Usyk Delivers Ruthless Response When Asked If Daniel Dubois Has Improved Since Their Fight

Oleksandr Usyk is on the hunt for his next opponent after defeating Tyson Fury for the second time.

The 38-year-old Ukrainian cemented himself as arguably the greatest heavyweight of his generation when he defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ via unanimous decision on December 21 to retain his unified WBC, WBA and WBO titles at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Their rematch came just seven months after Usyk outpointed the 36-year-old Brit to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the ‘four belt era’. After 12 cagey rounds, the Ukrainian superstar was declared the winner via split decision to capture Fury’s coveted WBC crown.

With Usyk now gearing up for his return to the ring, one potential opponent for the 38-year-old is reigning IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who has targeted a rematch with the unified heavyweight king. Dubois floored Usyk with a body shot in the fifth round when they met in August 2023, only for it to be ruled a low blow. The Ukrainian went on to stop the Brit in the 9th-round to retain his titles.

In an interview with Sky Sports Boxing, Usyk was asked if he believes ‘Dynamite’ has improved since their clash 2-years ago, especially after the 26-year-old’s great win over Anthony Joshua last year.

“No.

I think Daniel win [against Joshua], it’s a fact, but I think maybe Joshua have problems with [preparation].”

Dubois is set to make the second defence of his IBF title against New Zealander Joseph Parker on February 22 in Riyadh. The 26-year-old from London has expressed his interest in a rematch against Usyk, storming the ring just minutes after the 38-year-old was declared the winner in his rematch against Fury a few months ago.
