#Anthony Joshua#: Tyson Fury Delivers 3 Word Message In Response To Calls For Him To Retire After Usyk Defeats

Tyson Fury suffered back-to-back defeats in 2024.

The big Brit lost his WBC Heavyweight World Title to Oleksandr Usyk in their historic undisputed contest in May and couldn’t reverse the result in their December rematch

Despite Tyson Fury remaining fiercely competitive across the 24 rounds, and in his mind doing enough to win both bouts, some in the sport have suggested that it is time for him to hang up the gloves at 36-years-old having been a two-time world champion.

The Sun reports that, in response to the retirement question, Fury said:

“It’s not over.”

What’s next could and should be a long-awaited clash with countryman Anthony Joshua. The battle of Britain has been over marinated and was once a much higher stakes affair, but still carries significant intrigue and status.

Joshua has also lost twice to Usyk and recently suffered a knockout blow at the hands of IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois after building up a run of four victories.

His team remain adamant that there are just two important fights out there – the Dubois rematch or the Fury clash. With the rematch off the table for the foreseeable given Dubois’ defence against Joseph Parker on February 22 and then, should he win, either a mandatory or a potential undisputed clash with Usyk, ‘AJ’s team are expected to aggressively pursue the Fury fight.

With the backing of Riyadh Season, finances won’t be an issue in making the fight. Where it lands is another question, with Saudi Arabia no doubt keen to stage such a monumental showdown but the natural home being Wembley Stadium.
