Anthony Joshua’s Next Opponent: Dubois or Wilder?“I don’t think he should have taken that rematch.

Daniel Dubois Still Leading Contender for Anthony Joshua’s Next Fight, Says Eddie Hearn

Daniel Dubois remains the top contender to face Anthony Joshua in his next bout, despite a shortlist of five potential opponents being considered for the British-Nigerian heavyweight. This update comes from Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn.

Dubois Still the Frontrunner for Joshua’s Return

“Daniel Dubois still (is the frontrunner). In an ideal world, he will fight Fury, if not Dubois,” Hearn told reporters while discussing Joshua’s return to the ring.

The 35-year-old Joshua has been inactive since his November loss to Dubois, a defeat that put his quest to become a three-time world heavyweight champion on hold. Initially, he was expected to take on Tyson Fury in a highly anticipated matchup, but Fury’s sudden retirement announcement in January disrupted those plans.

Joshua’s Team Weighing Multiple Options

With Fury yet to make a definitive return to the sport, Joshua’s camp is considering other possibilities, including a rematch with Dubois. The 27-year-old was originally scheduled to fight Joseph Parker in February but withdrew due to illness.

“There is also Joseph Parker, who I think would be a great fight, there is Agit Kabayel and Deontay Wilder, obviously (Turki Alalshikh) has stated he would love to see that fight,” Hearn added.

Hearn also mentioned Martin Bakole as an option but admitted that Joshua would likely face criticism for choosing that matchup.

Joshua’s Decision to Skip Immediate Dubois Rematch

Joshua previously opted against an immediate rematch with Dubois, citing injuries and inadequate preparation time. This choice sparked mixed reactions within boxing circles.

Former British boxing star Amir Khan supported Joshua’s decision, saying it was the right call.

“I don’t think he should have taken that rematch. It’s the best choice he’s made,” Khan told Prime Casino.

Khan described Dubois as a challenging opponent for Joshua, noting, “You always have that one opponent who is always going to be the bogeyman, who is always going to beat the style that AJ has, and I think that is Dubois. He was punch perfect when I saw that fight.”

However, Khan acknowledged that Joshua might need to face Dubois again down the line.

“I think he made the right choice by not taking it now, but in the future, it’s still a fight. And even if he never fights him again, he tried, it happened, we’re all prize fighters, and at this time, he can make money elsewhere with an easier opponent,” Khan added.

Other Possible Opponents in the Mix

Among the alternative opponents, Joseph Parker, 33, recently knocked out late replacement Bakole in the first round after Dubois withdrew. Meanwhile, Kabayel, 32, secured the WBC interim title with a win over Zhilei Zhang.

Former WBC champion Deontay Wilder, 39, remains a potential challenger despite consecutive losses to Parker and Zhang. The American is reportedly plotting a comeback, with rumors linking him to a fight against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou.

Anthony-Joshua, Tyson-Fury

As Joshua’s return plans take shape, all eyes remain on whether Dubois will secure another shot or if another contender will step into the ring with the former champion.

Who Is Ready “All Day Long” ? Amir Khan Makes New Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Prediction: “All Day Long”

Like the majority of Brits, Amir Khan wants to see Tyson Fury come out of retirement to face Anthony Joshua.

The two rivals have never made it through the ropes together despite walking similar paths to heavyweight glory, often simultaneously.

Although both men have been relieved of their championship belts by elite Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, the long-awaited clash looked more likely than ever this year with no mandatory commitments, rematch clauses or world title shots on the horizon.

That was until Fury – who was beaten twice in 2024 by Usyk – announced his retirement in January. It left Joshua, coming off a bruising knockout loss to Daniel Dubois, without a big fight on the horizon and now searching for an alternative opponent.

Speaking to the Lancashire Post, former world champion Khan – who had his own all-British showdown with Kell Brook in 2022 – said that fans would see a full twelve should the pair manage to sign the fight, revealing that he backs Fury if his confidence is intact.

“It’ll be a good, close fight. I think it will go the distance, but it will be good to see because both fighters are at a good level. Anthony Joshua has had some good wins (before Daniel Dubois) and looked really good and revived.

“Then you look at Tyson Fury. He has to be in that type of position to make it a close fight with Anthony Joshua. If Fury is still at the top and has all of the confidence, then I think Fury wins that fight all day long. But with the last two fights, it’s even and is a 50/50 fight now.”

Though ‘AJ’s most recent defeat was much less competitive than that of ‘The Gypsy King’s, Khan advised the Morecambe man to have a tune-up fight before the blockbuster clash.

“Mentally, Fury may have been really impacted and that’s normal. I’m not talking bad about him but it’s normal and happened to me.

“When I had that fight loss against Lamont Peterson, mentally I was done. Even though I knew I was a better fighter than Danny Garcia, he beat me and knocked me out. I was outboxing him and destroying him but it’s life.

“I feel Fury needs to come back and have one or two fights and then take the AJ fight. But knowing Fury with the b**** he has got, he will want to jump straight into that fight which would be very hard.”

Joshua is expected to make a decision on his next opponent soon, with promoter Eddie Hearn eyeing a Dubois rematch should Fury stay retired. However, ‘DDD’ has sights set on an undisputed clash with Usyk, perhaps leaving Joshua out in the cold.

British Boxing Legend Adviced Anthony Joshua To Retire Before Serious Health Damage Is Done

Carl Froch hasn’t had the best relationship with Anthony Joshua in recent years.

The former super middleweight world champion has often criticised the British heavyweight publicly and shared plenty of heated messages privately, particularly since ‘AJ’ left Froch’s former coach Rob McCracken

Right now Joshua is without a belt and coming off a damaging knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois.

He is a former two-time world champion in his mid-thirties with only a few fights left at the top level. He has also lost to Andy Ruiz J, although he avenged that one, and was twice on the wrong end of a points decision when he took on Oleksandr Usyk.

Speaking to Fightlens, Froch assessed where Joshua is at right now.

“I’m just honest and I tell the truth and Anthony Joshua has had a good career, a fantastic career, based on the level of his ability.

“He’s been ironed out a few times and that last whopping he took against Daniel Dubois looked hurtful, particularly damaging to his health. You can have as much money as you want in the bank, but your health is more important, you can’t put a price on your health.”

He then suggested he is finished and should hang up his gloves.

“The way he got knocked out looked like he’d been tasered. Hurt in round one, ironed out in round five. Why is he fighting? Since losing to Ruiz, back-to-back defeats to Usyk, then he fought Wallin, Ngannou, Helenius, he’s not had any competition.

“The minute somebody turns up with some ambition, which is Dubois, he didn’t want to know. Now the best thing he can do is retire.”

Anthony Joshua himself has a different view and has vowed to fight on, with the latest suggestions being that he could well return this summer for a blockbuster rematch with Dubois.

I’ Still Myself, Anthony Joshua’s fastest ever KO left rival crumpled at his feet after trademark shot on Carl Froch vs George Groves undercard

Anthony Joshua is one of British boxing’s most iconic figures in the modern era, having achieved it all as an Olympic gold medallist and a two-time heavyweight world champion.

Joshua went on a superb winning streak after turning over as a professional following his success at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

He won his first five fights in short stoppages, and was developing a fearsome reputation as a ferocious puncher.

The biggest opportunity of his career came on the undercard of Carl Froch and George Groves’ famous 2014 rematch.

It broke records as 80,000 packed into Wembley Stadium for the event, with Joshua getting a unique chance to impress on the undercard.

And he did more than impress against journeyman Matt Legg who leapt at the opportunity to take on the sport’s latest rising star.

But it was a devastating barrage of blows that saw his name on the tip of the watching fans tongues.

He first teed off with two shots that were largely blocked by Legg’s covered card.

Although a crunching uppercut found the mark crashing into the skull of the helpless Legg.

It sent him crumpling to the former Olympian’s feet as he fell flat on his back, the latest victim of the crazy power.

The referee waved off the contest with Legg clearly out of his depth, making it the fastest KO of the champion’s career to this date.

Legg described how the fight came about, being paid £8,000 for the clash with the future king.

He said: “My manager called up and said ‘Anthony Joshua’s team have offered the AJ fight, at Wembley Stadium on the Carl Froch-George Groves rematch. I went ‘100 per cent I’ll take it.’

“I would have done it for free. If they’d have said ‘the thing is you’ve got to do it for nothing’, I’d have went ‘alright’.

“I think I had about six or seven weeks to train for it. Eight grand, but the bloke before me got four.

“Eight grand but I got some sponsorship money so altogether about 11.”

Joshua continued on his KO streak becoming one of the sport’s biggest stars in the process.

He first won his world title in his 15th consecutive KO, before unifying the division in a famous clash with Wladimir Klitschko.

It was the famous uppercut that sent Klitschko into oblivion in that famous night at the same venue three years later.

Joshua’s KO rampage was eventually halted after 20 fights by Joseph Parker, and he has since faced adversity.

He has lost to Andy Ruiz Jr, Oleksandr Usyk and most recently was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois.

But he remains one of the most notorious profiles in the sport, and has a few years left to embark on his heavyweight journey before retirement.

The 35-year-old is still eyeing famous nights and a shot at becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.

Athletes Deserve Boundaries, Simone Biles blasts fans for violating her personal space: “Hands off!”

Simone Biles has spoken, and she’s not mincing words-she’s sick of people invading her personal space. The gymnastics icon, fresh off her honeymoon in South Africa, made it crystal clear that being touched or grabbed in public is a major no-go.

“The easiest way to irritate me is to touch or grab me when I’m in public,” Biles wrote on Threads on March 7, setting off a wave of support from fans who agreed that athletes deserve boundaries.

This isn’t just about minor inconveniences-Biles has had to deal with unwanted physical contact throughout her career. During the Paris Olympics, a cameraman bumped into her mid-competition.

Biles, keeping her composure but visibly irritated, warned, “If one of these cameramen hit me one more time, we’re going to have an issue.” While she said it with a smile, the message was loud and clear: don’t cross the line.

Simone is not joking

One fan playfully asked how she managed to survive in South Africa, a country known for its affectionate culture. “We are very touchy-feely. We are forever greeting strangers with a hug or arm pat,” the fan wrote. But while Biles enjoyed her honeymoon, she’s made it clear-respecting personal space isn’t up for debate.

For many, Biles’ firm stance is completely understandable, especially given her history. She was one of the brave women who publicly testified against former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who sexually abused countless athletes under the guise of medical treatment. The trauma left deep scars, making her even more adamant about setting boundaries.

She’s not alone. Sprinter Gabby Thomas recently revealed she was physically grabbed at an airport by a man who accused her of not earning her Harvard degree. “Imagine just trying to go for a run and someone feels entitled to put their hands on you,” Thomas posted.

The message is clear: just because someone is in the public eye doesn’t mean they’re public property. And if you dare invade Simone Biles’ space, don’t expect her to stay silent.

Knockout Artist Who Lost To Oleksandr Usyk Admits He’s “Too Good” And Ends Hopes Of Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk is expected to announce his next opponent soon.

The Ukrainian last fought in December when he defeated Tyson Fury in their rematch, coming out on top by unanimous decision to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles.

It was the second straight victory for Usyk over Fury, having also beaten ‘The Gypsy King’ by split decision last May to become undisputed heavyweight champion.

Oleksandr Usyk vacated the IBF belt after that meeting, which is now in the possession of big-punching Daniel Dubois, who has picked up stoppage wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and most recently Anthony Joshua in his last three fights.

A rematch between Usyk and Dubois has now been touted, after the pair originally met in August 2023. It was a controversial bout, with Dubois believing he had dropped the Ukrainian with a body shot, only for it to be ruled as a low blow.

Usyk recovered and claimed a ninth round stoppage victory, and now nearly two years later it looks as if the two men could be set to meet again.

There is another fighter that is no longer interested in a rematch with Usyk though, and that is former undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev.

Beterbiev previously lost to Usyk in the amateurs, and once revealed he was keen on a rematch in the professional ranks at cruiserweight.

“I repeat, from a pure sporting perspective I would be interested in this fight, of course, because we boxed in the Olympics and the World Championships as amateurs.

It would be interesting to try as professionals, not for money, although money would be nice, but my interest in this fight would be purely sporting, much more than monetary. Much more.”

However, Beterbiev has since admitted to Fight Hub TV that he isn’t keen on the bout anymore, even if Usyk were to move back down to 200lbs.

oleksandr usyk

“No, he’s too strong for me you know. He’s like heavyweight you know it’s too strong even if he came back down. He’s too strong [even at cruiserweight], too good.”

Beterbiev was last in action in February when he lost his undisputed titles in his rematch with Dmitry Bivol, and he’s explained what he expects to do next.

“He Knows How Good I Am” Oleksandr Usyk Called Out By Unbeaten KO Artist For His Last Ever Fight

Oleksandr Usyk has been issued a challenge to fight by a young and hopeful heavyweight who many believe will be a future world champion.

Usyk became undisputed champion in May last year by defeating the previously unbeaten Tyson Fury on points. He repeated the result in December with a second win over ‘The Gypsy King’, who has since gone into retirement. In between the two bouts, the Ukrainian was forced to vacate the IBF belt, which was picked up by Daniel Dubois, leaving him with three of the four major titles.

Now 38 years old and heading towards the end of his career, the elite talent has made it clear he has two fights left. He has stated that his goal is to be a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, so a fight with Dubois is likely up next.

Now, 20-year-old puncher Moses Itauma says he would like to fight the great Ukrainian after. He has had high praise from the likes of David Haye, and Fury and Usyk himself with many deeming him to be a future world champion.

Itauma’s best wins so far were stoppages over Mariusz Wach and Demsey McKean in his last two outings, which means his record sits at 11 fights, 11 wins, 9 knockouts.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he outlined his ideal fight plans.

“[Usyk] knows the talent. It takes talent to see talent and I think he knows it. I’m not doing it for Usyk’s praise. I’m doing it for myself and my family. I want it to be Dubois and then me.”

The hard-hitting southpaw is on a run of seven stoppages and, despite the Usyk fight being unlikely, there is little doubt he will get his opportunity at the top soon, perhaps when Usyk retires and the belts may fragment, or an all-British clash against promotional stablemate Dubois at one stage.

Anthony Joshua Set For Return Soon ,Eddie Hearn Listed five Opponents Interested in His Return.

Although Tyson Fury is no longer the front-runner, Joshua has a list of five possible opponents for his next bout.

Since his knockout loss against IBF champion Daniel Dubois in September, Joshua has been out of action.

Before the Gypsy King declared his retirement in January, Joshua appeared to be headed for a big comeback against Tyson Fury.

Joshua might want a rematch with Dubois next because Fury hasn’t changed his mind about his boxing career yet.

Instead of immediately rematching with the 27-year-old Dubois, Joshua, 35, agreed to take on Parker next.

However, he withdrew from the bout with Parker in February just a few days before due to an ailment he contracted in Saudi Arabia.

In one round, however, Parker, defeated Bakole, a late replacement who filled in with little over 24 hours’ notice.

On the same evening, Kabayel defeated Zhilei Zhang to claim the WBC interim title.

The 39-year-old former champion Wilder just lost to Parker on points and to Zhang via knockout.

Although the American has not yet announced a return to the ring, there are rumors that he is planning a comeback.

The most recent fight that Wilder has been associated with was against Francis Ngannou, a 38-year-old former UFC champion who was defeated by AJ and Fury in the ring.

Anthony Joshua, a former two-time world heavyweight champion, has risen two spots in the most recent Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings.

While Tyson Fury is ranked No. 1 despite declaring his retirement in January, Oleksandr Usyk is still in a class above the top 10.

The last time Anthony Joshua fought, he lost to Dubois via knockout at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.

Following consecutive losses to Usyk in 2024—the first setbacks of his professional career—Fury made his decision. Many in the boxing community, however, question whether his retirement is permanent.

Bakole was knocked out by Joseph Parker after filling in for Dubois on short notice, while Zhang was halted by a stunning body blow from Agit Kabayel in the sixth round of their WBC interim heavyweight bout.

Joshua’s ascent in the rankings comes after the division underwent major changes.

Bakole, who was once ranked No. 6, is now No. 7, and Zhang plummeted from No. 4 to No. 6.

After his career-best victory, Kabayel climbed to No. 4, and Anthony Joshua is now No. 5 behind Zhilei Zhang, a German boxer.

“It will Be A Harder Fight” As Daniel Dubois Set for Summer Return With One Man Targeted

Daniel Dubois is likely to make his ring return this summer after withdrawing late in the day from his last fight.

That was supposed to be a voluntary defence of his IBF world title against tough challenger Joseph Parker in February

However, Dubois came down with a virus in the final hours before the fight so was pulled from the card. Martin Bakole stepped up and was stopped inside two by the in-form Parker.

Daniel Dubois became IBF champion after beating Filip Hrgovic in June last year, then backed it up with an imposing knockout win over former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua in September.

Right now he has several options including honouring the fight with Parker, a second bout with Joshua, or a rematch with Usyk who beat him in August 2023 after a controversial body shot that had Usyk down was ruled low.

Usyk recovered, rallied and went on to stop Dubois. This time, a fight with the unified Ukrainian champion would be for undisputed honours.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, promoter Frank Warren gave an update on the health of Dubois.

“He’s recovering and he’s eager to get back in the ring again, having basically worked very hard and spent a fortune on a training camp for a fight that didn’t happen. He’ll probably be back in summer.”

He was then asked whether that return will be against Parker or Usyk.

“Well, what’s a harder fight, Joe Parker or Usyk? What’s the bigger fight? It’s a no brainer. I don’t get where anybody’s brains can be on this.

“He ain’t ducking anyone. The objective of the fight that didn’t happen was that the winner would face Usyk. So if the Usyk fight can be made, it will be made. We’re talking.”

With the extra confidence and momentum Dubois has built up since his first fight with Usyk, and Usyk being two years older, the rematch could be a different proposition entirely.

The biggest World Champion Brands Terence Crawford Overrated And Vows To Finish Him Inside 9 Rounds

Terence Crawford is gearing up for a huge fight against Canelo Alvarez, despite being on the radar of another world champion.

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska has set his sights on making more history when he challenges the unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight champion in September, in what will be one of the biggest fights boxing has ever seen.

Canelo has dominated the super middleweight division for almost five years, but faces a new kind of challenge in ‘Bud’ Crawford, who has cemented himself as one of the greatest fighters of his generation, and in many people’s eyes one of the best of all time.

Another fighter that has been on the radar of Crawford in recent years is WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, who is targeting a showdown with the 37-year-old in the near future.

READ MORE : Former Super-Middleweight World Champion Has No Doubt Terence Crawford Will..

Speaking to TKO Boxing, Lopez spoke of a potential fight against Crawford, claiming he intends to prove to the world that ‘Bud’ is overrated.

“The only way I can show the world that I’m the best is by facing the best. My main goal depends on Canelo and Bud, as I would love to fight Crawford as well.

He is one of the top pound-for-pound fighters of this time, and I want to show the world why he’s not in my eyes.”

In a separate interview with ESNEWS, he vowed to finish Crawford by round 9.

“I’d say by 9. It’s my favourite number and a guy like him, you gotta break him down, you gotta break him down, you can’t just take him out.”

‘The Takeover’ is set to return to the ring on when he faces current WBO interim light welterweight champion Arnold Barboza Jr in Times Square in New York.
