Shakur Stevenson Sums Up Infamous Sparring Session With Gervonta Davis In Just 4 Words
Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis are still yet to fight professionally. The two American stars are both undefeated world champions, but for one reason or another haven’t stepped in the ring to square off.
They have however sparred in the past, but as is the case when most big names spar, there has been differing accounts of what supposedly happened during the sparring session.
Stevenson has given his take and needed just four words to sum up his view on how it went whilst speaking to Say Cheese, and he acknowledged that it was competitive action.
“It was good work.”
He then explained further how and when the spar came about, and who he felt narrowly edged the session.
“First time sparring again after the Olympics, it was like 2 in the morning. It was on some 2 in the morning s**t. We went like 20 minutes straight I wanna say.
“If I’m being honest about that sparring session between me and him, it was good work. Two smart fighters. I feel like, if it was a fight, I won. But it was good work. He made me think, I made him think. That’s how I looked at it.

That was before I turned pro. I was an amateur at that time. That was before his world title fight with Jose Pedraza. The one that put him on.”
Stevenson returns to action in February when he defends his WBC lightweight title against Floyd Schofield, while Davis is back in the ring a week later when he puts his WBA lightweight belt on the line against Lamont Roach.
Fans hope that wins for both champions could see them finally face off next, but ‘Tank’ appears to have ruled out that happening.
