Not Oleksandr Usyk or him : Tyson Fury names ‘most talented heavyweight in the world by far’ – and it’s not Oleksandr Usyk or him

Tyson Fury believes Jared Anderson is still the most talented heavyweight in the world despite falling to defeat in his last outing.

‘The Gypsy King’ previously branded Anderson the ‘heir to his throne’ after sharing some rounds with him in the gym

But Anderson looked a long way off the finished article as he was battered from pillar to post by Martin Bakole in August en route to a crushing fifth-round knockout loss.

The devastating defeat has seen his stock fall considerably, however, Fury still has faith in the young American.

“I would also like to see Jared Anderson back in the mix,” Fury told the Pound for Pound Podcast.

“The young big baby. Now, for me, he’s the most talented heavyweight in the world by far.

“But coming off his last fight, he had a knockout loss, so talent sometimes doesn’t cut it if you are rushed into fights you are not ready for.

“He fought this guy called Martin Bakole, who is an absolute seasoned man, 30 years old, in the prime of his life, as strong as a rhinoceros.

“And he goes in there with a 24-year-old kid, who has had 17 tomato cans and has come through them with flying colours.

“But he wasn’t ready for that fight, maybe five or six more fights, a year or so away from that.

“It’s put him back a long way now and that does a lot for a fighter’s confidence but I’d like to see him back in the ring as well.”

Fury is set to run it back with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 after suffering the first setback of his professional career in May at the hands of the Ukrainian.

Both men will only be fighting for three of the major sanctioning body belts after Usyk was stripped of the IBF strap due to his contractual obligation to give Fury a second fight.

This meant he wasn’t able to box IBF mandatory Daniel Dubois, who was subsequently upgraded from interim to full world champion as a result.

While Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas insists a fight with Dubois for the final piece of the undisputed puzzle is the only challenge left for his client if he beats Fury again, the Mancunian is angling for a trilogy.

“When I win this fight with Usyk, then there has to be a third fight,” he added.

“And then after, next year maybe February or March, then I’ll look for the winner of the rematch between AJ (Anthony Joshua) and Dubois.”

Memory: After Bland Performance Terence Crawford Sends ‘Boots’ Ennis A Message

Terence Crawford could have hopped on the bandwagon blasting Jaron “Boots” Ennis following his unimpressive unanimous decision win over Karen Chukhadzhian on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, but he didn’t go that route.

Instead, Crawford took to social media to offer his would-be rival some advice and a smidgeon of encouragement.

Crawford admitted he didn’t see the fight but heard about Chukhadzhian giving Boots more than he bargained for in their rematch. The four-division champion told Boots, “every nights not going to be the same,” and urged him to “never get too comfortable in this game.”

Crawford’s post was sage advice and pretty admirable–especially by boxers’ standards. Ennis has repeatedly called Crawford out for a fight.

I spoke to both men about the callout earlier this year, and while there is mutual respect, there appeared to be some frustration on Ennis’ part because Crawford wouldn’t accept his challenge. After Saturday’s win that saw Ennis take far too many punches and again struggle to get the finish against an opponent that even Boots called a “lower-tier guy.”

Ennis maintains his desire to fight better competition despite the less-than-impressive showing on Saturday. He spoke to the media after Saturday’s fight and shared his belief that if he were fighting better fighters, it would bring the best out of him. That remains to be seen, and it is a tough sell to fans and others in the boxing community.

Fighters like Ryan Garcia didn’t waste time offering harsh criticism following Ennis’ victory. Garcia predicted he’d knock Boots out if they fought, and based on the frequency in which Chukhadzhian was landing his left hook, it doesn’t sound like a crazy prediction when you consider how deadly Garcia is with the same punch.

Ennis did have an answer for Garcia, whom he said only “talks and tweets.”

Golden Boy Promotion’s Oscar De La Hoya immediately posted about a potential fight between Boots and Vergil Ortiz Jr. That fight could potentially headline the suddenly more practical Matchroom-vs-Golden-Boy fight card.

At this point, if Ennis leaves 147 and potential unification fights against fighters like Brian Norman Jr. and Mario Barrios behind, a scrap with Ortiz does seem like a good matchup. Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn has said Premier Boxing Champion’s WBA welterweight champion Eimantas Staniosis is interested in fighting Ennis in a unification bout.

Hearn mentioning this potential fight sounds like a move to push his fighter into a more winnable matchup rather than throwing him to the sharks at 154 pounds. Based on what we saw on Saturday night, Ennis should probably follow Hearn’s nudging and Crawford’s advice.

Terence Crawford

Continue to work on his craft and hone those skills against fighters like Staniosis, Barrios, and Norman before moving up to take on bigger and better competition.

The time Jaron Ennis is tired and frustrated Also Tired of Terence Crawford Fight Questions

If there is one fight that every single fan wants to see at 147, it must be between IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis and former undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford. Everyone got excited when the 32-0 boxer expressed his desire to fight Bud, as this might be one of the best fights one could have asked for.

But the hope died down instantly when the 37-year-old Omaha native moved up to Light Middleweight and even flat out refused to entertain the potential fight. According to the 41-0 boxer, he had nothing to gain from this fight and it is understandable considering he is at the latter stages of his career now. While every fan slowly lost all hope, Ennis was still holding on to it. But it looks like even Boots has given up now, and he doesn’t expect anything from Terence Crawford.

Jaron Ennis is tired and frustrated

‘The Stomping Ground’ asked Ennis about the idea of the Terence Crawford fight and the Philadelphia native was visibly furious at the question. He stated, “I’m tired of answering your questions about it,” with a huge sigh. He continued, stating how Crawford has completely shut down the idea of the fight again and again. “He(Crawford) already said millions of times that he’s not fighting me or looking my way,” stated Ennis, trying to explain the situation.

The 27-year-old then explained that he had lost all hope of the fight happening. Even though he wants the fight and wants to prove himself against one of the greatest welterweights ever, he has accepted the situation. He stated, “If the fight happens, it happens. I want it to happen, but if not…”

While Boots has made peace with the fight not happening, he does not agree with what Crawford’s camp had to say about him. Earlier this year, Bud’s longtime trainer Brian “Bomac” McIntyre shut down the questions of a potential fight stating Ennis “don’t bring nothing to the table.”

According to Bomac, the fight with Jaron Ennis does not make sense for Bud at this stage of his career. Bomac further stated, “He(Ennis) got our leftovers” in reference to the IBF welterweight title that was handed over to Boots. Naturally, the comments did not sit well with the Philadelphia native as he hit back at the boxer-trainer duo.

Boots hit back at Terence Crawford

While addressing the comments, Ennis talked about how Crawford has fought many boxers who had nothing on him. “He has fought other fighters that didn’t have nothing. He fought David Avanesyan too.” This is not the first time when Boots has cited his frustration with Crawford’s choice of opponents. So, according to the 32-0 boxer, “none of that stuff makes sense.” While he understood the point that Terence Crawford is at a point “where he could fight whoever he wants and pick whoever he wants,” he is not fine with being sidelined completely.

With Terence Crawford being in the twilight years of his career, it is understandable that he wants to leave a legacy at 154. He already holds the WBA super welterweight title and the WBO interim super welterweight title and might want to become an undisputed champion at 154 as well.

Terence crawford

With Ennis still having unfinished business at 147, we might never see this fight unless something major happens. While this fight would most probably headline any event, the chances of it happening are very slim right now.

What do you think about Jaron Ennis’s comments? Do you think that Terence Crawford has nothing to gain from a fight against Boots? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Could not believed I was KOd by Anthony Joshua in 86 seconds but nobody hit me as hard as ‘The Sniper’

Michael Sprott was blasted out by Anthony Joshua inside the opening round but it wasn’t the hardest he was ever hit.

During a punishing 71-fight (42-29) professional boxing career stretching from 1996 to 2018, Sprott took on all comers.

In 2007, Sprott – a former British and Commonwealth champion – handed Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison the first knockout loss of his career.

However, he wasn’t able to produce the same heroics against Harrison’s successor, Joshua, eight years later.

By this point, Sprott was fast approaching 40 and his punch resistance was all-but completely shot.

The first meaningful shot AJ landed buckled Sprott’s knees and as the veteran sunk back into the ropes, Joshua followed up with a ferocious flurry that left the referee with no choice but to step in.

To his credit, Sprott remained on his feet, which is more than can be said for his fight with Corrie Sanders in 2001.

The heavy-handed South African sent Sprott tumbling to the canvas in the first round with a monstrous left straight and despite regaining his footing, the fight was waved off.

Sprott protested the decision at the time but years later in an interview with Through The Ropes, he admitted to having never felt a shot quite like it.

“When it comes to the hardest puncher, it would have to be Corrie Sanders, the South African,” he said.

“I was like, ‘Wow’ and I asked [Vitali] Klitschko when I was at the Klitschko camp, ‘What do you think of Corrie Sanders’ power?’ and he just went, ‘Wow’ so he must have had the same experience.

“That’s what Vitali said and Wladimir said, ‘They put me in with this guy Corrie Sanders, I didn’t know much about him and he did me over’.”

Sanders is best known for knocking out the younger Klitschko brother in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history in 2003.

Klitschko had held the WBO heavyweight title for three years at the time while Sanders had been widely written off after suffering KO losses to Nate Tubbs and Hasim Rahman.

But Sanders’ power proved too much for the young Ukrainian as he dropped him four times en route to a stunning second-round KO win.

Vitali would avenge his brother’s loss a year later when he stopped Sanders against the ropes in the eighth round.

Yet Sanders would leaving a lasting impression on Wladimir, who later called him the hardest puncher he ever faced in a December 2014 interview with Ring Magazine.

“I’ve been in boxing for 25 years and I never fought anybody in this game that punched like Corrie Sanders,” he said

Rematch Will Happen: Frank Warren Reveals Why He No Longer Thinks Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois Rematch Will Happen

After his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua‘s promoter Eddie Hearn was certain that his charge would want an immediate rematch.

‘AJ’ entered the ring that night at Wembley Stadium a sizeable favourite to become three-time titleholder against newly elevated IBF World Heavyweight Champion Dubois.

The 27-year-old upset the odds with a knockdown in the first that Joshua never really recovered from. The more seasoned heavyweight admirably made it five rounds before Dubois put an end to things with a well-timed right hand.

Post-fight, Joshua was humble in defeat and took it well. Though he didn’t mention the rematch himself, Hearn was adamant that it would be the path he wanted to take.

Dubois welcomed it, alongside his own promoter Frank Warren, who said a second fight was a ‘no brainer’ on their part due to the emphatic victory and the money on the table

There was talk of it happening in February on a Riyadh Season card that would host the second battle of the promoters between Hearn’s Matchroom and Warren’s Queensberry.

Now, however, Warren has told the Daily Mail that he believes it is unlikely.

“I don’t believe that when it comes to it Joshua is going to risk taking that fight. Not after being knocked out like that.”

After confirming Dubois would still defend his belt in February, Warren added:

“Then I would like to see Daniel rematch that defeat by Usyk in a fight I still believe he won with a legal body shot, not a low blow.”

Anthony joshua

That all depends on how Oleksandr Usyk gets on in his own rematch against Tyson Fury, set for December 21. The Ukrainian won the unified titles from Joshua, defended them against Dubois and added the final belt – the WBC – by beating Fury earlier this year.

It’s believed that ‘AJ’ could instead wait to see how that fight plays out and go straight into a long-awaited clash with Fury should he lose for a second time.

I ‘need’ Anthony Joshua fight, Daniel Dubois will KO and retire AJ in heavyweight title rematch : Jarrell Miller

Jarrell Miller has predicted that an Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois rematch will go the same way as the first fight, and that another damaging loss could be the end for the former.

Dubois decisively knocked out Joshua in five rounds in their IBF heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium in September.
Following the fight, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed the 35-year-old has a rematch clause, and a second fight is reportedly being slated for a February card in Saudi Arabia.
Miller, who was slated to fight Joshua in 2019 before a failed drug test saw Andy Ruiz step in as a late-notice replacement, warned that a rematch would be a huge risk for Joshua.
“Same outcome,” Miller told Boxing Scene when asked his thoughts on a rematch. “AJ’s’ still getting knocked the f*** out.
“I think it definitely does [end his career], but he’s big money – they’re gonna keep milking the cow until there’s no more milk left. Hopefully me and him can get it on before he gets retired.
“Dubois blitzed him. He didn’t think Dubois was that fast, and we all know that AJ don’t got a chin.
“Instead of waiting for him to run out of gas and get out of rhythm, ‘let me jump on your a** now’, and that’s what Dubois did.“
After replacing Miller to fight Joshua, Ruiz unexpectedly beat the Brit and handed him the first loss of his career.
Ruiz and Miller fought to a majority draw in August, and the ever-brash American is still itching to get his fight with Joshua.
“I need that fight first,” Miller said. “One more loss and he call it quits. One more bad loss – he’s made enough money already.

“I give everybody the recipe to beating AJ already – he ain’t got no chin; he ain’t got no heart. Put balls in his face, he gonna quit. The same thing’s gonna happen again.
“AJ, you gotta fight me before you retire, you punk b****.”
Dubois is no doubt eager to fight heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk, who he lost to in Poland in 2023, but a rematch with Joshua stands in the way and potentially a clash with WBO interim champion Joseph Parker.
If Miller had his way, however, he would be next up for Dubois after being stopped by the 27-year-old in late 2023.
Anthony joshua
“I want my rematch with Dubois. I had a month [to prepare] for that fight; almost had him out of there. I told everybody AJ was going to crack, and that’s what happened.
“He impressed me very well. He hanged in there. His dad [Dave], definitely, was a motivating factor in that fight. But like I said, he fought an out-of-shape, last-minute, ‘Big Baby’.
“He definitely impressed me [against Joshua]. He’s improving every fight, so the one after – Dubois ain’t going to be the same Dubois when I fight him again. Trust me. He ain’t gonna beat the Big Baby.”

Tyson Fury Makes Huge U-Turn On Result Of First Oleksandr Usyk Fight

Tyson Fury has seemingly changed his mind when it comes to his first encounter with Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson Fury will do battle with his heavyweight rival Usyk again in a highly-anticipated rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday 21 December

‘The Gypsy King’ came up short in their first meeting, suffering a razor-thin split decision loss, as Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years.

In the immediate aftermath, Fury disagreed with the verdict, claiming that he only gave Usyk four rounds of the fight.

“I’ve watched the fight back lots of times and still got the same answer, I thought I won the fight, I thought I did enough. One of the judges had me winning by a round, one had him winning by a round and that was the final decision, so it was what it was. There is no good in crying over spilt milk, it’s done now. I believe everything happens for a reason.

I thought I boxed the head right off him for most of the rounds. He landed a good punch in round 8 and busted my noise and in round 9 he had a 10-8 round so that’s two and I give him round 10, but other than that I didn’t give him any other rounds. I give him 4 rounds in the fight.”

Fury appears to have had a change of heart though, as during the launch press conference to officially announce the rematch with Usyk, he conceded that Usyk won ‘fair and square’.

“Last time in May it was a fantastic fight, Oleksandr won the fight fair and square.

Anthony joshua

“It wasn’t my time to win or else the all mighty would have given me the victory. I’m very happy that Usyk got the decision because God’s timing is not late, it’s not imperfect, it’s perfection.

“So that was meant to be, and we’ll find out what’s meant to be on December 21.”

Fury has also shared his thoughts on both Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, and has made a bold prediction for the potential rematch.

“He Won’t Take It” Tyson Fury Has No Doubt Who Wins Anthony Joshua vs

Rematch: “He Won’t Take It”

Anthony Joshua was stunned by Daniel Dubois in his attempt to become a three-time world heavyweight champion at Wembley Stadium.

Though ‘AJ’ stepped through the ropes a sizeable favourite, it was newly-elevated IBF Champion Dubois who immediately grabbed control. Backed by his stellar and stiff jab, the younger man worked his way in and dropped Joshua in the first

He would touch the canvas twice more before having some success in the fifth round, but Dubois put an end to that and the contest entirely with a right hand that Joshua couldn’t get up from.

The defeat has thrown many things into doubt for Joshua: his future in the sport, chances of becoming world champion again and a long-awaited bout with Tyson Fury.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Fury said that he was ‘deflated’ at ringside due to the prospect of their bout no longer being as big.

“I was the only sad person there. I was completely deflated. It will still be big but it won’t be as big.”

He then said that there was little respect shown to Dubois pre-fight.

“People thought it was the Anthony Joshua show. He’s going to fight this world champion and knock him over and nobody was respecting Dubois. It shouldn’t be like this. I said why don’t you put some respect on that world champion’s name. Karma is a b***h it really is.”

On an immediate rematch, of which ‘AJ’s team are currently considering, ‘The Gypsy King’ says it won’t happen. If it does, he believes Joshua loses again.

“No I don’t think he can [win a rematch]. I don’t think he’ll take a rematch.”

Fury is currently preparing for a return fight of his own against Oleksandr Usyk in which he will have the chance to avenge his only career defeat and win the WBA, WBC and WBO titles.

Errol Spence Jr. or Jermell Charlo, Who Should Vergil Ortiz Jr. Fight Next?

The light middleweight division has been experiencing a churn. Excitement surged with the arrival of Terence Crawford. Reasons were aplenty—from talks of bridging the gap toward Canelo Alvarez to a more practical achieving glory in yet another division. Now, Bakhram Murtazaliev has shocked the world. At Florida’s Caribe Royal Resort, he knocked out the heavy favorite Tim Tszyu and retained his IBF light middleweight title. Though a title defense, the upset might have set in a chain reaction.

But it appears in this shake-up that one low-key entry seems to have slipped out of the collective memory. After a prolonged break, Vergil Ortiz Jr. returned early this year. After two non-title bouts, on August 10, he squared off against Serhii Bohachuk for an interim title. For the first time in his career, Vergil Ortiz Jr. had to walk the distance. Nevertheless, the explosive KO artist delivered a solid ‘Fight of the Year’ contender. However, it’s over two months now. There’s still no clarity as to who the Grand Prairie-born boxer will fight next. There are a few potentials, though.

The Fight That Almost Was: Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu

Interestingly, one of the earliest names that cropped up for a matchup was that of Tim Tszyu. In fact, the Sydney-born fighter and Ortiz Jr. were slated for a face-off on the August 3 Crawford-Madrimov card. But Tszyu’s injuries that he suffered during the Sebastian Fundora bout led to a cancellation. The prospect of an Ortiz Jr.-Tszyu fight was foremost in their thoughts when Oscar De La Hoya and HE Turki Alalshikh joined an interview.

But ‘The Soul Taker’s second career loss yesterday might have put a spanner in the works for any future matchup. Speaking about the divisional upheaval, following last year’s loss to Crawford, reports emerged that Errol Spence Jr. too joined the 154-pound weight class.

Could Vergil Ortiz Jr. face Errol Spence Jr.?

Vergil Ortiz Jr. had already expressed a keen interest in pursuing a face-off against the former welterweight champion. The idea of a showdown at the Cowboys Stadium held particular appeal to him. “I think the fight that makes that happen is the Spence fight. If he gets through Fundora and he’s healthy… we can run it at Cowboy Stadium,” he said during an interview. The fight makes for an intriguing contest. Though passingly, Spence Jr. has hinted at retiring from the sport. Hence, there’s a good chance he might want to go out on a high note—perhaps as a world champion.

For both Spence Jr. and Ortiz Jr., it would be a legacy-defining clash. Stylistically, it would be two heavy-hitting Texans going at each other. Spence Jr. would be testing his strong fundamentals against a fighter known for his devastating power. But a few caveats could be in play. Many feel the loss to Crawford has taken a heavy toll on the Long Island-born southpaw. Then, injuries apart, he underwent eye surgery early this year. It’s already been over 12 months since he entered the ring. So will the odds weigh him down?

Then one might have to consider Errol Spence Jr.’s options as well. Ever since he moved, talks of a fight against Sebastian Fundora surfaced. After a few rounds, when it appeared the matchup could be mere speculation, it seemed that a fight could be in the making for a 2025 face-off. So would the ‘Big Fish’ be interested in facing a fearsome interim champion risking a second career loss or straightaway go after the unified title holder, where, at least on paper, he stands a better chance of winning?

Jermell Charlo: Another target for Ortiz Jr.?

Apart from Errol Spence Jr., Vergil Ortiz Jr. had Jermell Charlo as well in his sights. The former undisputed light middleweight champion has yet to make a comeback following the loss to Canelo Alvarez last September. Ortiz Jr. made his intentions clear even before he could mark his 154-pound debut against Frederick Lawson. Though he said, ‘anyone at the time,’ when a reporter specifically took Jermell Charlo’s name for a future fight, Ortiz Jr. made it explicitly clear, “I just, I just want to fight the best. I want to prove that I’m the best.

Incidentally, promoter Oscar De La Hoya too appeared interested in a Charlo fight. Reportedly, he went back on an old tweet from the ‘Iron Man’ and told him to reach out following the April 27 Thomas Dulorme match.

But like Spence Jr.’s case, Charlo’s case is a bit complicated. Following the Canelo fight, the Louisiana-born fighter faced a slew of personal problems. Then, early in January, reports emerged that WBC had conferred on him the status of ‘champion in recess’. The decision led to the title being declared vacant. A few months later, the WBA followed suit. As of now, Jermell Charlo has been keeping a low profile, and there’s no clarity about his next move.

Nevertheless, after a few months, even if he steps into the ring, will the fight with Ortiz Jr. resonate with fans?

Winding Up

Both Errol Spence Jr. . and Jermell Charlo turned 34 this year. They might be at the tail end of their careers. Hence, there’s a big question. Would either of them risk a fight against a younger, hungry contender like Ortiz Jr., especially with a loss potentially spelling the end of their time in the sport?

Of course, things have not been easy for the Grand Prairie-born fighter either. A move to a higher division seemingly exposed his vulnerabilities. It may only be a matter of time before a determined boxer of high caliber exploits it to his advantage. Could it be Terence Crawford? There are quite a few who support the matchup. Then there’s a high possibility of Jaron Ennis finally making a move to 154 pounds, presenting another enticing challenge for Ortiz Jr.

Let us know what your takes are on Vergil Ortiz Jr.’s options. Who do you feel he should fight next?

With Clause, Daniel Dubois has discussed the prospects of a rematch with Anthony Joshua as well as his desire for a second fight with world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Daniel Dubois has sent Anthony Joshua a stark message claiming his opponent would have “demons on his mind” in the build-up to any potential rematch.

Last month, the pair fought at Wembley Stadium, and despite Joshua entering as the heavy favourite, he found himself struggling from the first round. Dubois dropped him four times en route to a triumphant fifth-round knockout, successfully defending his IBF title.

Many boxing pundits have said Joshua should retire after the defeat. However, he believes there will be another chance to become a three-time world heavyweight champion, even after falling to a fourth career defeat

Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, wants ‘Dynamite’ to return to the ring early next year and has indicated an openness to a second showdown with Joshua, with the potential to headline the scheduled February 22 fight night in Riyadh.

Ahead of this, Dubois believes Joshua will be facing inner turmoil. The IBF champion told BoxNation: “He’ll have a lot of demons playing on his mind.

Some suggest that ‘Triple D’ should take on the victor of the Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury rematch later this year, but a rematch with AJ seems to be a more likely scenario. However, Dubois has openly stated that he has unfinished business with the Ukrainian champion.

Last year, ‘Dynamite’ and him met in the ring, with the British fighter knocking Usyk down with a body shot that the referee controversially deemed a low blow. Usyk ultimately secured a knockout victory in the ninth round.

“That’s unfinished business,” Dubois said. “I want to get that one right. I want to do it properly and finish him. It will be a good fight, a unification fight, that’s massive.
