“It was the first relationship that I had ever had but I was in my 20s, so you know, whatever. That was that. And then I go home, and he ghosts me. I got ghosted,” Williams said. “And it wasn’t even that serious, but it was like, I used that and I made it way more serious than what it was.”

Williams, who won 23 Grand Slam titles during her illustrious tennis career, took that as a reason to take her tennis game to an even higher level.

“So when he ghosted me, I used that as an opportunity to say, ‘He’s gonna regret this for the rest of his life,’” Williams said. “That was just the motivation I needed, just the excuse I used to go the extra mile. I’m gonna make sure that this person never forgets me. I’m gonna make sure that this person sees me everywhere for the rest of their life.”

She married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in 2017, a year and a half after the couple met in Rome.

Novak Djokovic has been left out of Team Europe’s line-up for the Laver Cup.

Novak Djokovic will be one of several big names absent from this year’s Laver Cup after he was left out of the Team Europe squad. The veteran Serb is enduring a tricky spell at the moment, having failed to win a title of any kind since his triumph at the ATP Finals in November.

Djokovic reached his first Grand Slam final of 2024 at Wimbledon but was outplayed by Carlos Alcaraz, who breezed to victory in straight sets. He is also no longer the world’s top-ranked player, with Jannik Sinner at the summit ahead of Djokovic and Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic To Play For Record 25th Major Title In Wimbledon Rematch Against Carlos Alcaraz

It has now been confirmed that Djokovic will play no part at the Laver Cup after being left out of Bjorn Borg’s six-man squad, although it is not clear why. At 37 years of age, the competition may not be a priority for him at this late stage of his career.

On Wednesday, it was announced by Team Europe that Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas would be the final two players to complete their line-up.

They will join Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal to form one of the strongest Laver Cup teams in history. Team World, meanwhile, will be represented by Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton with the final two places yet to be announced.

Djokovic will not be the only high-profile absentee from the Laver Cup, with Andy Murray and Andrey Rublev also being left out by Team Europe. Sinner is another player who will not feature despite pulling away from Djokovic at the top of the world rankings.

His run to the Wimbledon final came just weeks after he underwent knee surgery after suffering a meniscus tear at the French Open. Speaking after his defeat to Alcaraz, Djokovic admitted that he does not yet feel ready to mix it with the sport’s brightest talents.

“Being able to reach the final at Wimbledon is a great confidence boost, but I feel that I am not at the level needed to beat the best in the world,” he said.

“To have a chance to beat Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who are the best this year by far, in the final stages of a Slam or at the Olympics I will have to play much better. I will work. We are not talking about something I have never faced before. In adversity, I usually learn lessons and become stronger.”

Djokovic will return to action at the Olympics later this month, where he will represent Serbia in the singles event alongside Dusan Lajovic.

“I hope to have the opportunity to fight for a medal for my country,” he added. “It will be on a completely different surface, returning to the place where I got injured a few weeks ago. We will see how I feel physically and mentally.

“I hope I can find my best tennis, because I will need everything I have and more to reach the final of the Olympic Games. As for returning to Wimbledon, I would definitely like that. I don’t think this is my last Wimbledon for a moment. I really want to play again, I have no limits in my mind.”

“Israil Madrimov is a tremendous and entertaining fighter, but on August 3, he will be my next victim. This is the Terence Crawford era.”

Madrimov’s promoter Eddie Hearn thinks that Crawford is underestimating his opponent. Hearn said: “I think they’re underestimating him. He’s extremely tough and he hits very hard.”And it’s all like, ‘Canelo after this.’ Don’t get me wrong. Crawford is the favourite in the fight, but Madrimov is a very, very tough fight.

“He’s got great movement, he’s a fit, strong guy in his prime, and as I said, he punches very hard, and that’s not an easy fight.”

Martin Bakole has long been rather in the shadows of the heavyweight scene.

The Congolese boxer is a big problem for anyone in the banner division but has often struggled to get the fights he wants because of that, with promoter Ben Shalom once calling him ‘the most avoided man in boxing’. He hits hard and has a good engine but has not yet managed to get a shot at a world title.

With that victory Crawford wrote his name into the history books as the first man to ever be undisputed champion in two weight classes in the four belt era – a feat that has now been matched by the ‘Japanese Monster’ Naoya Inoue and the heavyweight king, Oleksandr Usyk.

The 36-year-old then made it clear that he only wants legacy building fights before he hang up the gloves and targeted a clash three weight classes up against super-middleweight ruler, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

With Canelo undecided about a Crawford bout claiming he won’t receive any credit for beating the naturally smaller man, ‘Bud’ has decided to move up one division to take on WBA super-welterweight champion Israil Madrimov in an attempt to become a four-weight world champion.

Ennis however believes he poses the toughest test to Crawford and wants his countryman to either move back down to 147 or stay at 154 to face him.

The 27-year-old has put in a string of eye-catching performances and boasts an undefeated record of 32 wins with 29 coming by way of knockout.

Roy Jones Jr is regarded by many as one of the best to ever lace up the gloves, so is well qualified to judge the top fighters in the game today.

A potential lightweight unification fight which intrigues fans and offers a fascinating clash of styles is ‘Tank’ Davis versus Stevenson.

Rising Star Who Has Sparred Gervonta Davis And Shakur Stevenson Has No Doubt Who Wins Fight - Seconds Out

Most pundits are split as to who would come out on top – the precision punching power of Tank or the defensive skills of Stevenson.

Speaking to All The Smoke Fight, Jones was full of praise for both men, starting with Shakur,

“Shakur Stevenson is a very good fighter, but he’s got to learn and I hope he pays attention to this, his feet are good but sometimes they take him too far out of range to be able to come back and counter. The last guy he fought, the guy was a good puncher, so when he was jumping back he was jumping too far back out of range to where he couldn’t get couldn’t get something right away and for the fans it starts to look boring.

Jake Paul‘s 2024 is either going to be a smashing success — or a colossal flop. In a few days, boxing fans might know for sure, one way or the other.

Paul was set to fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 — but that bout has been pushed back to November, owing to Tyson‘s ulcer flare-up in May. Instead, Paul is set to battle bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on Saturday. If that bout goes well, it is full speed ahead for the Tyson fight on Nov. 15. But if it doesn’t go well for Paul…all bets might just be off.

Jake Paul to face Mike Perry after Mike Tyson fight postponement

Paul: If I don’t beat Perry…

Paul seems to be keenly aware of the gamble he is making by fighting Perry — who has developed a reputation as one of the world’s fiercest bare-knuckle fighters through his UFC exploits. And although his focus is firmly on Perry, Paul understands that he is putting himself in some danger ahead of receiving the biggest paycheck in his life this November.

“A lot of people think I’m crazy for pivoting to this; why Mike Perry, why now, why take the risk, you could lose the biggest payday of your life against Mike Tyson if you lose to Mike Perry who is a violent killer, a bare-knuckle, undefeated legend over there,” Paul told DAZN in a new interview.

Paul has told DAZN and ESPN‘s “Pat McAfee Show” the same thing: if he loses to Perry, the Tyson fight isn’t going to happen.

This whole entire thing is a giant risk,” Paul said. “I’m focused on July 20, I’m focused on Mike Perry and just being in that mindset is what will lead me to victory.”

Who did Mike Tyson fight recently? Clues ahead of his Jake Paul fight

So why is Paul choosing to fight Perry, who boasts a perfect 5-0 record as a bare-knuckle fighter? One word: showmanship.

“I need the experience, I need to stay active. I fear no man, I’m ready anytime, any place, anyone, and I truly back that up with my action,” Paul explained to DAZN. “It’s not something I just say walking around. I’m just down to f***ing fight and I love performing.”

Paul understands the bet he’s making, and how easily it could backfire and set his boxing career back. The former YouTube star is going forward with it anyway, and it remains to be seen whether he can ward off Perry‘s challenge on Saturday night.
