Gervonta Davis versus Shakur Stevenson is one of the most mouth-watering fights that can be made in world boxing right now.
Both men are venerated talents and both currently hold a lightweight world title having also held belts in lower divisions.
Davis has been rather plagued by inactivity in recent times and has fought just twice since April 2023 when he stopped Ryan Garcia with a brutal body shot. He returned earlier this summer to KO Frank Martin and, ever since, there has been much talk of him facing Stevenson.
Stevenson has been criticised in his last couple of fights against Edwin De Los Santos and Artem Harutyunyan. He won both unanimously on points but did so with a safety-first approach that meant there was little drama.
He has blamed that on a hand injury and his opponents failing to engage, promising fans that he will shine against the best competition. That, for now, doesn’t look like it will be ‘Tank’ Davis with both set for different directions.

Instead, Shakur has been linked with a fight against William Zepeda on a Riyadh Season card.
Ahead of that potential bout, MillCity Boxing asked how it might go down and ‘Tank’s coach Kenny Ellis claimed it would be another easy night for Stevenson.
“I got Shakur boxing the s**t out of Zepeda. Fuck around and get a unanimous decision. He can’t match Shakur.”
In the most recent development, Shakur took to social media to claim Zepeda didn’t want the fight and is now ‘close’ to agreeing a deal to face former super-featherweight world champion Joe Cordina next.
