Former welterweight champion Tim Bradley has weighed in on the upcoming bout between Ryan Garcia and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.
‘King Ryan’ will lock horns with ‘Rolly’ at the iconic Times Square in New York City on May 2, with the vacant WBA Regular world welterweight title at stake for both fighters
It will be Garcia’s first outing since his 1-year suspension from the sport came to an end, after he tested positive for a banned substance directly before his showdown with Devin Haney in April 2024.
The pair are likely to meet in a rematch later this year, but both fighters are required to come through their respective bouts to make it happen, with Haney also pencilled in to return to the ring on May 2 when he faces former unified super lightweight champion Jose Benavidez.
Speaking to Fight Hub, Bradley predicted a comprehensive knockout victory for Garcia, backing the 26-year-old from California to put an end to the proceedings in dramatic fashion

“I think Ryan’s gonna catch him with that left hook and it’s gonna be ‘night night’. I think Ryan has changed definitely, I think his character has definitely changed with the way he’s displaying it now, a lot more calmer and respectful, he looks like a real businessman now.

“He’s not all loud and crazy like he was, he’s toned it down a bit. I respect that with Ryan and I think he’s gonna be a lot more focused now.”
Garcia had put on a career best performance against Haney when they met at the Barclays Center last year, before it came to light that the 26-year-old had returned a positive test for Ostarine, which led to result changed to a no contest, his suspension and a fine of over $1 million.
Romero is a former WBA World Champion, though he won the belt in controversial fashion against Ismael Barroso and lost it in his first defence against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz He will enter the ring a significant underdog.
