Martin Bakole has long been rather in the shadows of the heavyweight scene.
The Congolese boxer is a big problem for anyone in the banner division but has often struggled to get the fights he wants because of that, with promoter Ben Shalom once calling him ‘the most avoided man in boxing’. He hits hard and has a good engine but has not yet managed to get a shot at a world title.

His only loss was a shock one against the much smaller Michael Hunter back in October 2018 when he lost by stoppage in the last round at York Hall in London.
Since then he has put together a solid string of wins over the likes of Mariusz Wach, former Olympian Tony Yoka and best of all Carlos Takam – whom he stopped in his most recent contest in October of last year.
Speaking to iFLTV, Bakole assessed his upcoming fight with Jared Anderson in the United States and vowed to ‘100%’ get the knockout.
“I’m a fighter and a boxer so I’m looking forward to seeing what ‘The Real Big Baby’ will bring.

He’s never fought someone on my level so this is his first test. He could come and surprise everyone but I don’t think so. This is my time. I’m looking forward to it. I’m working very hard, he’s a pro boxer, he’s number 1 in the rankings in America. He’s 7 in BoxRec, I’m 11, he’s a good boxer so I’m taking a tough fight.
Be ready Anderson. 100% I’m coming to fight and to get the knockout, this is my time.”
24-year-old Anderson will present plenty of problems for Bakole. He’s a feared puncher with an incredible 90% knockout ratio from his 17 fights and has been labelled as the future of the division by former world champion and one time sparring partner, Tyson Fury.
UPDATE:Is Terence Crawford vulnerable against Israil Madrimov?
Bakole is hoping that an eye-catching performance will put him next in line for a title shot.
The pair fight on the undercard of Terence Crawford’s super-welterweight world title fight against Israel Madrimov at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on August 3rd.
