“No Doubt”: Frank Bruno Makes Emphatic Prediction For Oleksandr Usyk vs Prime Lennox Lewis
British heavyweight legend Frank Bruno has had his say on a fantasy showdown between Oleksandr Usyk and Lennox Lewis.
Oleksandr Usyk and Lewis remain two of the few fighters in the history of boxing to have held the undisputed heavyweight championship during their respective careers
The Lion’ captured the undisputed championship when he defeated Evander Holyfield in their highly anticipated rematch back in 1999, after they fought to a split draw in March of the same year. Lewis outpointed ‘The Real Deal’ over 12-rounds, winning via unanimous decision to add the WBA and IBF titles to his WBC crown.
Usyk become the first fighter in boxing history to claim the first undisputed heavyweight championship of the ‘four belt era’ when he defeated Tyson Fury in May 2024, becoming the first man to beat ‘The Gypsy King’. The Ukrainian icon repeated this feat in their rematch 7-months later, cementing himself as arguably the greatest heavyweight of his generation.
In an interview with iFL TV, Bruno talked down Usyk’s chances against ‘The Lion’, who he lost to by KO back in 1993, claiming he would not have been as successful during that great heavyweight era of the 1990’s.

“I don’t think in my era he would have got this far. In his era, he’s done very well. I’m not being b****y when I say that, I’m only talking from the heart. He wouldn’t have stood [a chance with the likes of Lennox Lewis]. They’re too big heavyweights for him, naturally big guys, you know.”
Usyk is now said to be considering his future in the sport, although the 38-year-old looks set to fight on as he targets a potential rematch against IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who he defeated 2-years ago in a controversial showdown.
