After Aj KO down, Francis Ngannou’s next boxing opponent identified following brutal Anthony Joshua KO

Francis Ngannou is yet to decide on his combat sports future after suffering a brutal knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua earlier this year, with Deontay Wilder a possible opponent

Francis Ngannou could face Deontay Wilder in a clash of the KO artists as the MMA star ponders a return to the ring. After his departure from the UFC after beating Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in 2022, ‘The Predator’ decided to roll the dice in professional boxing

Although he faced a narrow split-decision loss against Tyson Fury and was later knocked out by Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia, Ngannou has not given up on either boxing or MMA. “I never left MMA. Also, I haven’t left boxing. I’m not returning to MMA, I never left MMA. That’s the confusion,” he told BBC Sport.

“The fact that those fights even happened, it was something exceptional. I had that dream for over 20 years, and I finally put it into fruition. That was dream chasing, a life-long dream I completed.” After his bout with Joshua, Francis stepped back into the octagon in October for the first time in two years to face Renan Ferreira for the PFL Super Fights Heavyweight Championship, where he emerged victorious with a compelling first-round knockout win in Riyadh.
‘The Predator’ Francis Ngannou is keen to forge on with his MMA career, though fans may have to hold their breath for a bit as prospects in the heavyweight division seem sparse. The only notable contender appears to be Denis Goltsov following his momentous win against Oleg Popov, clinching the $1million heavyweight tournament prize.

One person who is particularly eager to see Ngannou step back into the boxing scene is none other than Turki Alalshikh, His Excellency, who has announced his ambition to verify Deontay Wilder’s readiness for a return to the ring after consecutive losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, before possibly matching him up with ‘The Predator’. “I need to sit with Wilder [for] two minutes to see his condition,” Alalshikh said to DAZN. “I can catch it from two minutes [and check] if he’s ready or not. I don’t want to waste time and money anymore. I need to check first if he’s still got it.”

He further mentioned that Ngannou will meet with him this month to watch the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury rematch, hinting at numerous business discussions they plan to have. “Francis will come to me in December to watch the [Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury] rematch. We have a lot of business together. Yes, I have on the table two options for Francis. One in MMA and one in boxing I want to discuss with him,” he added.

I’ m the best’ Heavyweight Who Has Sparred Fury, Usyk, Dubois And Joshua Says One Man Is Better Than Them All

Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are the two current heavyweight champions and thus the top dogs in the division on paper.

A more detailed look shows Tyson Fury up there following a close points loss to Usyk back in May and the chance to avenge that next month. Anthony Joshua has long hovered around the top as well, but Dubois’ statement knockout of the former two-time champion dropped him down a rank or two

British fan-favourite Dave Allen has sparred all four men. In fact, he retired from the sport for a period after a concussive session with formerly undisputed Usyk.

Despite being complimentary of each man when discussing the work in the gym, ‘The Doncaster De La Hoya’ believes bogeyman Martin Bakole is the best in the world. He explained why to Boxing Social.

“I think Martin Bakole is the best heavyweight in the world. I think he probably beats everybody. I’ve said this for a while. He’s so big, but he’s so fast. When he puts his shots together so well, there’s an aura about him as well. Jared Anderson is huge, 6ft4, 18 stone. Bakole made him look like a baby, look like a child.

Bakole would beat Usyk. I’ve no doubt in my mind, way too big. He’s all wrong for Usyk. The only people I can see giving him trouble is Zhang ’cause he’s as big as him, Fury and Joshua.”

Bakole’s brutal win over hot US prospect Jared Anderson was the best of his career in terms of reach and significance. He now finds himself high ranked with the sanctioning bodies and banging the door for a title shot. He and his trainer Billy Nelson believe that the only way any of the above agree to fight him is if they are backed into a corner and ordered to do so.

With George Foreman-esque thudding shots and a seemingly fearless approach to the sweet science, fans, pundits and fellow fighters are coming round to the idea that Bakole could be ruling the roost in the near future.

Daniel Dubois confirms his Jake Paul call-out is REAL – as the heavyweight champion searches for his next opponent after dominant win over Anthony Joshua

Heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has confirmed he is serious about fighting Jake Paul after calling out the YouTuber-turned-boxer earlier this week.

Dubois is looking for his next opponent after stopping Anthony Joshua inside five rounds at Wembley Stadium in September.

And after watching Paul beat former heavyweight king Mike Tyson on Netflix last Friday, Dubois sent him a direct message on Instagram.

The message read: ‘Hi Jake, good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world? This is Daniel Dubois calling you out, let’s get it on.’

The 27-year-old Londoner has now revealed why he messaged Paul and refused to rule out facing him in the future.

‘If Jake wants it with me, he can get it,’ Dubois told the Bricks To Riches podcast.

Paul has been called out by several high-profile names in recent days including the undisputed light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and Carl Froch.

The American appeared to rule out fighting Beterbiev due to his lack of fans, but indicated that he would be open to Dubois’ proposal.

‘Man been boxing for 12 years, has over 100 fights between amateur and pro and fought on my undercard…hahaha,’ Paul wrote on X alongside a screenshot of Dubois’ message.

‘But f*** it… I’m going to have Nakisa talk to Frankie Warren and get you in line for the throne. Unlike Artur, at least you have a few thousand fans.’

Dubois is being lined up to defend his IBF title in February in Saudi Arabia, and it is almost guaranteed that it will not be Paul in the opposite corner.

A rematch with Joshua had appeared Dubois’ most likely option in the wake of their September bout, but the Olympic gold medallist is now expected to wait to see the outcome of Tyson Fury’s second fight with Oleksandr Usyk next month before deciding on his future.

That leaves Dubois without an opponent for now. His promoter Frank Warren has revealed talks with multiple potential opponents are ongoing, with former champion Joseph Parker emerging as a frontrunner to face Dubois.

For several years, Anthony Joshua was regarded as one of the most powerful men in the heavyweight division.

Anthony Joshua stopped all 20 of his first opponents on his way to becoming the unified IBF, WBA and WBO world champion, and it was Joseph Parker who was the first man to take him the distance in 2018

His first loss was an upset to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019. After winning the rematch he has beaten Kubrat Pulev, lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk, racked up stoppage wins over Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou then lost by stoppage in the fifth round to Daniel Dubois last time out in September.

He must now decide whether to go into a rematch with IBF champion Dubois or wait for a fight with long-time British rival Tyson Fury – who first takes on Usyk again in December as he attempts to avenge the first loss of his career.

Speaking to Queensberry Promotions, Joshua was asked to name the boxer with the most power of all time and he went with an American legend.

“George Foreman.”

‘Big George’ is regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers to ever lace up the gloves. He also famously holds the record for being the oldest man ever to life a heavyweight title which he did at the age of 45 with a knockout win over Michael Moorer.

Before that, he had legendary fights with the likes of Muhammad Ali in the iconic ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ and retired in 1997 with a record of 81 fights, 76 wins with an incredible 68 by way of knockout.

Former unified light welterweight world champion Amir Khan has advised ‘Joshua to wait for Fury fight’

Former unified light welterweight world champion Amir Khan has advised Anthony Joshua to hold off on other fights and wait for a mega-bout with Tyson Fury before retiring from boxing, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The British-Pakistani fighter believes Joshua, who has amassed over $200m in career earnings, should conclude his illustrious career with the long-awaited all-British showdown against the Gypsy King.

“He should wait for the big fight against Tyson Fury,” Khan told New Zealand Daily. “They’re both such big names and I think he should call it a day after that.

“Anthony joshua has done phenomenal in boxing and has made a lot of money, won a lot of titles, fought around the world, and is a big name but for him, why not finish on a big high by taking the Fury fight and then call it a day?”

The Olympic gold medallist is currently nursing injuries following his fifth-round knockout loss to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in September, with his promoter Eddie Hearn confirming he won’t return to action until at least May 2024.

Meanwhile, Fury is preparing for his rematch with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk next month, having lost his WBC heavyweight title to the Ukrainian via split decision in May.

Khan, who enjoyed a stellar career himself, believes Joshua has taken relatively little damage throughout his career and could preserve his legacy by retiring after the potential Fury clash.

“He can then enjoy the rest of his life knowing people have respect for him as a great champion. At the same time, he has not taken that much punishment,” the former champion added.

The proposed bout could materialise under the Riyadh Season banner, with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh expected to make a lucrative offer should Fury fail to reclaim his title from Usyk in December.

“It’s The Only Big Name” Tyson Fury Didn’t Hesitate To Tell Daniel Dubois Who To Fight Next:

Tyson Fury has some advice for Daniel Dubois on where to head next in his career.

Right now Dubois is on top of the world. He is the current IBF belt holder having defended the strap against former two-time champion Anthony Joshua back in September

That career-best performance saw him knock down the Olympic gold medalist twice on his way to a fifth-round stoppage that left Joshua face-down on the canvas.

In the last year he has also beaten Jarrell Miller and Fillip Hrgovic in impressive fashion and now has a new found confidence to go with his natural size advantages and renowned punching power

Speaking to Pound 4 Pound ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in December, Fury revealed his strategy when planning his fights

“Here’s the thing. Me and Usyk do this fight in December, Dubois has to fight soon anyway. He has to stay active. He’s only going to get a certain amount of money for low-level opposition.

“I don’t know about anyone else but I only want to fight for the highest amounts of money every time. It doesn’t matter who it is. I want the biggest amount for what I’m doing.

“I don’t want to fight someone easy for a low amount, I want to fight someone tough for a large amount ’cause the risk outweighs the easy fight.”

He then revealed that he thinks Dubois should look to take the ‘AJ’ rematch.

“So if I was Dubois, me and Usyk at the top of the division, fighting for the belts, the only other big name for him to make big money out of in the UK so I would definitely say do the AJ fight.

“More for AJ’s side, ’cause he knows he can make big money out of it and he gets the chance to rectify the knockout loss.”

Dubois had said he is open to a rematch with Joshua, though ‘AJ’s team has now said he has some niggling injuries which means he will not be ready to go again in February, which is Dubois’ date. The champ is expected to announce an alternative opponent in the coming weeks

Anthony Joshua is once again on the sidelines of the heavyweight division having taken another loss in his most recent fight.

British former two time world champion Joshua sat at the top of the boxing world for several years during a period of great dominance in which he unified three of the four world titles

There were set backs along the way including an upset loss to Andy Ruiz Jr which he immediately avenged in a rematch six months later. Despite becoming world champion again, he was soon unable to solve the puzzle of Oleksandr Usyk.

The pair shared 24 rounds in back-to-back fights but Joshua ultimately came out without his belts. Usyk has since gone on to become undisputed king of the banner division with his win over Tyson Fury in May, and Joshua himself also rebuilt with four straight wins before being stopped inside five rounds by Daniel Dubois back in September.

Speaking to Boxing News, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said Joshua is keen to fight Dubois as soon as possible.

“AJ’s next fight may well be against Daniel Dubois, but it won’t be on February 22nd. We had a very awkward call with AJ’s medical team, 258, Ben Davison, and he wanted to fight on February 22nd but basically he was told there is no way he can start camp and be 100 % for February 22nd physically.”

He then spoke of the injuries which are keeping him out of camp and the new timeline.

“There is nothing major, two or three issues, a little bit in camp but also the fight. They said he needs to come back in May, June. He didn’t want to do it but we had to overrule him on this.

“We said we can’t afford not to get this right, you get beaten by Daniel Dubois and you have to seriously consider your career. We’ve got one chapter than we need to get 100% spot on. Whenever he comes back he has to be physically and mentally perfect. He wants to rematch Daniel Dubois so bad.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn : Daniel Dubois and Tyson Fury ‘fighting’ to fight Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua has not announced his next opponent, but the two most likely candidates are Daniel Dubois or Tyson Fury, at least that is the dream of promoter Eddie Hearn, who chatted about Joshua’s return to the ring.

Hearn spoke to Ariel Helwani and said that Joshua, who is recovering from the injuries suffered in his big fight in September at Wembley against Dubois, would not be ready to fight when Dubois makes his first title defense on February 22.

“He going to fight Daniel Dubois or Tyson Fury,” Hearn told Helwani“They’re the only two fights I see. He wanted to go on February 22 and fight Daniel Dubois and he just wouldn’t have been 100 percent. He’s still got a couple of minor niggles from that fight. He still can’t start camp and he needs to do that now, if he’s going to fight on February 22.”

Possible opponents for Anthony Joshua’s return

“You’ll see him (Joshua) around May or June, and I think he’s desperate to do the rematch with Daniel Dubois, but obviously, win or lose Tyson Fury on December 21, it will be a fight that will be very difficult to walk away from,” Hearn admitted. “Those two have to face each other before it’s all over. And that could be next.“Win or lose. If he (Fury) wins, it would be absolutely fantastic. He could defend his unified world championship against Anthony Joshua. If he loses, it’s the last dance for both of them. Either way, it’s compelling. I want Fury to win. I want Fury to be heavyweight champion of the world because that’s what AJ wants, to try and become three-time heavyweight champion of the world. That’s why he wants to do the rematch with Dubois, because there’s a world title opportunity there. Yes, Fury can win and we can do the fight with AJ, definitely that would be my preferred route, but we’ll see what happens on December 21.”

Eddie Hearn could leave ATT Stadium before Paul vs Tyson fight

Matchroom director Eddie Hearn will be at the AT&T in Dallas on Friday for the big event between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. But he won’t necessarily stick around for the main event, as he admitted that he plans to leave early.

“Sometimes it gets me in trouble, but obviously it can irritate the MVP guys [Paul’s promotional company],” Eddie Hearn admitted on The Ariel Helwani Show of Uncrowned.

“I’ve always been honest with people, I’ve always been honest. I’m not going to flatter them, I’m not asking for this fight to be banned. All I’m saying is it’s not my thing.”

“Mike Tyson was probably one of my biggest heroes in the sport. I just don’t want to see him in the ring again at 58 years old, that’s all. Commercially, I get it all. It’s going to have big numbers, people are going to make a lot of money. They’re not going to see me with a [sign outside the stadium saying, ‘Stop the fight! Stop the fight!’ But it’s just the world we live in today. And a long time ago I made the decision – it probably cost me a lot of money – to stay true to my passion for the sport and walk away from that kind of stuff. And I just don’t feel right about it.”

Could not believed I was KOd by Anthony Joshua in 86 seconds but nobody hit me as hard as ‘The Sniper’

Michael Sprott was blasted out by Anthony Joshua inside the opening round but it wasn’t the hardest he was ever hit.

During a punishing 71-fight (42-29) professional boxing career stretching from 1996 to 2018, Sprott took on all comers.

In 2007, Sprott – a former British and Commonwealth champion – handed Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison the first knockout loss of his career.

However, he wasn’t able to produce the same heroics against Harrison’s successor, Joshua, eight years later.

By this point, Sprott was fast approaching 40 and his punch resistance was all-but completely shot.

The first meaningful shot AJ landed buckled Sprott’s knees and as the veteran sunk back into the ropes, Joshua followed up with a ferocious flurry that left the referee with no choice but to step in.

To his credit, Sprott remained on his feet, which is more than can be said for his fight with Corrie Sanders in 2001.

The heavy-handed South African sent Sprott tumbling to the canvas in the first round with a monstrous left straight and despite regaining his footing, the fight was waved off.

Sprott protested the decision at the time but years later in an interview with Through The Ropes, he admitted to having never felt a shot quite like it.

“When it comes to the hardest puncher, it would have to be Corrie Sanders, the South African,” he said.

“I was like, ‘Wow’ and I asked [Vitali] Klitschko when I was at the Klitschko camp, ‘What do you think of Corrie Sanders’ power?’ and he just went, ‘Wow’ so he must have had the same experience.

“That’s what Vitali said and Wladimir said, ‘They put me in with this guy Corrie Sanders, I didn’t know much about him and he did me over’.”

Sanders is best known for knocking out the younger Klitschko brother in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history in 2003.

Klitschko had held the WBO heavyweight title for three years at the time while Sanders had been widely written off after suffering KO losses to Nate Tubbs and Hasim Rahman.

But Sanders’ power proved too much for the young Ukrainian as he dropped him four times en route to a stunning second-round KO win.

Vitali would avenge his brother’s loss a year later when he stopped Sanders against the ropes in the eighth round.

Yet Sanders would leaving a lasting impression on Wladimir, who later called him the hardest puncher he ever faced in a December 2014 interview with Ring Magazine.

“I’ve been in boxing for 25 years and I never fought anybody in this game that punched like Corrie Sanders,” he said

Rematch Will Happen: Frank Warren Reveals Why He No Longer Thinks Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois Rematch Will Happen

After his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua‘s promoter Eddie Hearn was certain that his charge would want an immediate rematch.

‘AJ’ entered the ring that night at Wembley Stadium a sizeable favourite to become three-time titleholder against newly elevated IBF World Heavyweight Champion Dubois.

The 27-year-old upset the odds with a knockdown in the first that Joshua never really recovered from. The more seasoned heavyweight admirably made it five rounds before Dubois put an end to things with a well-timed right hand.

Post-fight, Joshua was humble in defeat and took it well. Though he didn’t mention the rematch himself, Hearn was adamant that it would be the path he wanted to take.

Dubois welcomed it, alongside his own promoter Frank Warren, who said a second fight was a ‘no brainer’ on their part due to the emphatic victory and the money on the table

There was talk of it happening in February on a Riyadh Season card that would host the second battle of the promoters between Hearn’s Matchroom and Warren’s Queensberry.

Now, however, Warren has told the Daily Mail that he believes it is unlikely.

“I don’t believe that when it comes to it Joshua is going to risk taking that fight. Not after being knocked out like that.”

After confirming Dubois would still defend his belt in February, Warren added:

“Then I would like to see Daniel rematch that defeat by Usyk in a fight I still believe he won with a legal body shot, not a low blow.”

Anthony joshua

That all depends on how Oleksandr Usyk gets on in his own rematch against Tyson Fury, set for December 21. The Ukrainian won the unified titles from Joshua, defended them against Dubois and added the final belt – the WBC – by beating Fury earlier this year.

It’s believed that ‘AJ’ could instead wait to see how that fight plays out and go straight into a long-awaited clash with Fury should he lose for a second time.
