Tyson Fury’s cousin reveals what Gypsy King said about fighting Anthony Joshua as he gives huge update on boxer’s future

The Gypsy King announced his fifth retirement from the sport in January after losing his unbeaten record in back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury, 36, is seemingly happy as Larry with his decision to call it quits, which will allow him to spend more time with his wife Paris and their seven children.

And, according to cousin Andy Lee, there’s no sign of Fury making yet another retirement U-turn.

The former WBO middleweight champ told iFL TV: “[It’s] just the odd message here and there and he seems vey happy.

“[He said], ‘Andy I’m not f****d.’ That’s what he said. ‘I couldn’t be f****d with it.’ He’s very happy.”

When asked if he wants to see his cousin lace them up again, Lee added: “As bad as it sounds, it depends what the figure is for Tyson.

“It has to motivate him to come out of retirement. He seems very happy.”

Boxing fans around he globe are keen for Fury and Joshua to finally settle their score, even though they’re well past their primes.

But not Lee, who said: “I don’t really care if they fight each other.

“I’d be happy to see them retire or go about their careers separately. If they do fight, I’d be backing Tyson, I think he’d win.”

AJ is refusing to give up on the Battle of Britain, telling IFL TV: “I feel like it’s the best fight [for me].

“People might say [Joseph] Parker, people might say – I don’t know.

“But I think Fury, commercially, is a great fight and it’s a great man’s fight as well. So I think it makes sense.

“You could say it’s been years in the making. But listen, the heavyweight division has been thriving.

“And the thing is, there is going to be one winner and one loser and there’s going to be bloodshed. And it ain’t gonna be mine.”

‘He’d probably get criticised’ – Eddie Hearn pours doubts on potential next fight for Anthony Joshua as five-man hit list drawn up

Eddie Hearn insists there are five names in the running to box Anthony Joshua next – but one is less likely than the others.

Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring this summer following his devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September.

The plan was for AJ to finally square off with Tyson Fury this summer.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh was even said to be preparing a lucrative offer for a two-fight deal.

However, the fight has been shelved as Fury announced his retirement from boxing in January following a second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

While Hearn is hoping Fury will reverse his retirement, he isn’t banking on it.

The Matchroom Boxing chief is planning to sit down with Joshua and his advisers imminently to discuss possible next opponents and there is no shortage of options.

Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT.com he said: “Daniel Dubois still [is the frontrunner].

“In an ideal world, he will fight Fury, if not Dubois.

“There is also Joseph Parker, who I think would be a great fight, there is Agit Kabayel and Deontay Wilder, obviously, His Excellency (Alalshikh) has stated he would love to see that fight.

“I guess the Bakole fight is still there, but he would probably get criticised if he fought Bakole, so less likely,” he added.

The 33-year-old was in Congo with family when he received the green light from Alalshikh and embarked on a 3,800-mile journey to Saudi Arabia the next day, made up of three separate flights.

The first plane ride took him from Congo to Ethiopia, then to Dubai, before landing in Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Saturday morning.

When he made his way to the ring, Bakole was clipped on the top of the head with a clubbing right hand in the second round that sent him hurtling to the canvas.

Prior to his last outing, Bakole’s promoter Ben Shalom declared that a fight with Joshua had been signed, although this proved to be untrue.

oleksandr usyk

“It’s done. I’m hearing he’s signed and we’re off to the Congo,” Shalom told talkSPORT last month.

“The social media rumour mill is always probably 10 per cent true,” he told the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel.

“The latest one, someone sent it to me on Saturday.

I don’t Doubt Johnny Nelson says he Has No Doubt Who Would Win A Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua Fight

Anthony Joshua is looking for his comeback opponent and Johnny Nelson has a view on what would happen if it were to be Deontay Wilder.

Both of these former heavyweight world champions are in the autumn of their careers. Wilder was a long-ruling WBC belt holder who, until he faced Tyson Fury, had knocked out every man put in front of him in the ring

Fury drew with the American in their first fight, then knocked him out in two further contests. Since then Wilder has also been beaten twice more, once on points by Joseph Parker, and once by KO by Zhilei Zhang. Although a return has been rumoured for almost a year, nothing has yet materialised.

Joshua is in a similar position. He was beaten twice in back-to-back fights by Oleksandr Usyk, the first in 2021 which left him without any of his belts, and the second was a rematch a year later that went the same way and ended with another points loss for ‘AJ’.

After rebuilding with four wins over the likes of Otto Wallin and Francis Ngganou, Joshua had another shot at a world title against Daniel Dubois last September. However, he was stopped inside five rounds and hasn’t fought since.

Speaking to Daily Mail Sport in a round of winner stays on, Nelson was asked to pick between Joshua and Wilder and didn’t hesitate to name his winner.

“Anthony Joshua.”

Many hoped that Joshua and Fury would finally get it on this year but Fury’s retirement back in January put an end to that, at least for now.

“I’m Better Than Them All” ‘Most Feared Heavyweight’ Vows To ‘Beat Up’ Usyk When They Fight

Oleksandr Usyk remains unbeaten inside the professional boxing ring.

Not only is he unbeaten, but he has never been legitimately put down in the ring and has rarely ever even looked hurt. As such, he is regarded as a generational great and is in a very small class of fighters alongside Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue who have been four-belt undisputed in two weight divisions

Usyk has cleared out both cruiserweight and heavyweight, and in the last couple of years has beaten Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice each in epic back to back 12-rounders.

He has said his only remaining motivation is to become two-time undisputed champion, which he could do by facing current IBF belt holder Daniel Dubois. ‘DDD’ is a man Usyk has already beaten, by stoppage, back in the summer of 2023.

Speaking to ESNEWS, however, American Jarrell Miller has suggested he is the man to beat Usyk and gave the reasons why.

“Because I’m bigger, I’m stronger, I throw more punches, I’m more aggressive, I’ve got a better chin, I’m more durable than these guys.

“The thing is I was the most feared heavyweight for many years. My punch output, my stamina, how I come forward. Frank Warren and these guys always tried to give me last minute fights. Now I’m a free agent, I’m going to prepare myself.”

‘Big Baby’ then sent a warning directly to the unified champion:

“On a full training camp, I’ll f***ing beat Usyk’s ass. 100% percent.”

Miller has fallen short at the top level before, most notably when he was stopped inside 10 rounds when he took on Dubois in December 2023. Before that, he was best known for being pulled from a fight with Anthony Joshua after failing a drugs test late in the day before their contest in June 2019.

However, a controversial draw with Andy Ruiz Jr in August last year which most felt Miller had won stood him in good stead for future match-ups. The durable 36-year-old was recently considered as an opponent for Derek Chisora’s 49th fight, however a promotional dispute got in the way and Otto Wallin instead was given the opportunity.

“He Won’t Go Near Him” Dave Allen Names The Only Heavyweight Who Can Beat Oleksandr Usyk

Popular British heavyweight Dave Allen has revealed the one fighter that he believes can defeat Oleksandr Usyk.

The 38-year-old from Ukraine beat Tyson Fury for the second time on December 21 to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles via unanimous decision and cement his status as the greatest heavyweight of his generation.

Usyk had already secured victories over Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora and Daniel Dubois before he locked horns with ‘The Gypsy King’ for the first time last May.

Their highly anticipated showdown was contested to determine the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the ‘four belt era’. After a cagey 12-rounds, Usyk was declared the winner via split decision, which handed Fury the first defeat of his professional career.

With many fans and pundits left wondering what the Ukrainian’s next steps will be, Allen believes there is one heavyweight in particular that can become the first to defeat Usyk in what has been a glittering tenure.

Speaking on his own YouTube channel, ‘The White Rhino’ admitted he believes Agit Kabayel can defy the odds and become the first fighter to beat Usyk should the fight ever happen.

“If you asked me now to pick a heavyweight to beat Oleksandr Usyk, I would pick Kabayel. He can do a little bit of everything really. He can box, he can fight, he’d a body puncher, he’s tough, he literally has everything

“If you asked me now to pick a heavyweight to beat Oleksandr Usyk, I would pick Kabayel. He can do a little bit of everything really. He can box, he can fight, he’d a body puncher, he’s tough, he literally has everything.”

Kabayel was crowned WBC ‘Interim’ heavyweight champion with an impressive victory over Zhilei ‘Big Bang’ Zhang in Riyadh on February 22.

The 32-year-old from Leverkusen, Germany became the first fighter to stop Zhang inside the distance, surviving a knockdown himself and dropping the 41-year-old with a powerful body shot in the sixth round before the referee waved it off.

The victory followed previous wins over Arslanbek Makhmudov and Frank Sanchez, all of which confirm Kabayel as a serious threat in the division.

Though is now in prime position with the WBC, Usyk is much more likely to pursue a rematch with Dubois for a chance at becoming two-time undisputed at heavyweight.

Tyson Fury could be part of something ‘really specia, Anthony Joshua wants Tyson Fury fight and Daniel Dubois rematch, says Eddie Hearn

Could Anthony Joshua lure Tyson Fury out of retirement for an all-British mega fight? Or could he meet Daniel Dubois in a rematch next? Dubois was forced to withdraw from his world title defence against Joseph Parker due to illness, but could yet go on to face Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury could be part of something ‘really special’ should he come out of retirement to face Anthony Joshua in a long-awaited British heavyweight clash, says Eddie Hearn.

Fury is currently ‘retired’ from boxing after taking to social media in January to announce he was stepping away from the ring in the aftermath of his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December’s rematch.

The Gypsy King had also previously ‘retired’ following his knockout victory over Dillian Whyte in April 2022, only to return against Derek Chisora six months later. His history of hanging up his gloves has fuelled expectations around the boxing world of an eventual return.

Joshua was ringside in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night to watch on as the heavyweight landscape changed again, Agit Kabayel stopping Zhilei Zhang to continue his march towards the biggest names in the division and Joseph Parker knocking out last-minute replacement Martin Bakole to keep his world-title hopes alive.

“The whole night got him (Joshua) very excited about coming back,” Matchroom CEO Hearn told Sky Sports.

“I think the right thing to do would be to rematch Daniel Dubois, I think that’s what he would like to do, to have another shot at the world heavyweight championship.

“We want to fight Tyson Fury but know he’s retired at the moment

“I hope he (Fury) watched tonight and the hairs on his arms stood up a little bit.

“We could do something really special. Respect to him, if he doesn’t come back then good luck but if he could, there would be a lot of happy people.”

Top Rank COO Brad Jacobs told Sky Sports last week he believed Fury could be lured out of retirement by a showdown with Joshua as both come off defeats.

Fury just suffered back-to-back losses to Usyk to miss out on the undisputed heavyweight championship, while Joshua was knocked out by IBF champion Dubois at Wembley.

“Nobody is in Tyson’s head, only himself, of course. I think an Anthony Joshua fight gets him out of retirement, if it’s the right situation and he feels right about it,” said Jacobs.

“I believe there is the potential for it. What happens nobody knows. Tyson has done shocking things before, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he did it again.”

Dubois had been scheduled to defend his IBF title against Parker on Saturday before falling ill on Thursday and being replaced by Bakole, who had meanwhile been eyeing a final eliminator against Efe Ajagba in May.

Parker went on to clinch his sixth straight win to remain on track for another deserved title opportunity. Sky Sports Boxing‘s Johnny Nelson, though, pondered a potential rematch against Joshua, who beat the Kiwi via unanimous decision in 2018.

Nelson said before Parker’s win: “You know what I think is going to happen. I think Daniel Dubois goes on to box Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua sat ringside, he’s not got an opponent yet and either way I thought, if Parker wins tonight, all of sudden AJ will find an opponent and he won’t be getting in with Daniel Dubois again.

“Don’t be surprised if that happens again, Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.”

Also calling for rematch as Anthony Joshua Sums Up Joseph Parker’s Chances Of Beating Daniel Dubois In 3 Words After Bakole KO

Anthony Joshua has fought both Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker.

He beat Parker for the WBO belt back in 2018 in what was his first fight to go the full 12 rounds. That made the Brit a unified champion, but since then he has been dethroned first by Oleksandr Usyk who beat him in 2021 and 2022, then by Dubois in September who stopped him inside five rounds as Just AJ attempted to become a three-time world champion

Parker and Dubois were due to fight this past weekend but a late illness to ‘DDD’ meant Parker instead faced late stand-in Martin Bakole and knocked him out inside two rounds.

Speaking to BoxNation, Joshua was asked what chance Parker stands against Dubois if the two meet and believes the New Zealander has ‘a great chance’

“A great chance. He’s a phenomenal fighter, so is Dubois. Great Chance. I feel like Dubois had to show a little bit more with his fight with Hrgovic, he had to dig deep. His fight with Miller, he had to dig deep, his fight with me he kind of like, it’s like he announced himself as the heavyweight slayer as he called himself. Dubois, he’s just edging it.”

Despite Parker coming through adversity after being knocked down in his victory over Zhilei Zhang, ‘AJ’ still sounded caution about his ability to fight through tough moments.

“Look at Parker, he’s gone in there and knocked out Bakole. If it gets tough, I’ve seen it from Dubois, he’s managed to come through, with Parker, he’s gone in there and blasted out Bakole. It would have been nice to see a bit more, see what his engine’s like in the later rounds, see what grit he’s got, but he’s gone in there and done what we all want to do as heavyweights and knock him out.”

Parker will be hoping the Dubois honours their fight and he gets his world title shot, though some believe Dubois may instead push to go straight in with Usyk for an undisputed clash.

“If He Gets Knocked Out” – Francis Ngannou Gets a Bitter Reminder on Eyeing Deontay Wilder Boxing Fight

Francis Ngannou with Renan Ferreira’s consciousness still clinging to his knuckles, is already hunting new prey. The PFL Super Fight heavyweight champion has locked his predatory gaze on boxing’s knockout artist, Deontay Wilder. “I will do boxing next,” Ngannou whispered to Sportsbook Review with the casual menace of a man who traffics in unconsciousness. “[I’m passionate about fighting Deontay Wilder] because there’s an 80 percent chance that somebody will go to sleep.”

This isn’t just another fight—it’s a collision of nuclear arsenals. Two men whose right hands should require permits from the Department of Energy, both seeking to erase recent setbacks from combat sports’ collective memory. The Cameroonian’s boxing expedition—born from the still-smoldering ashes of his UFC exodus—has yielded a highlight reel as volatile as his fists. Fans will remember the night when the former UFC heavyweight king registered his name in boxing’s aristocracy list by sending Tyson Fury to the canvas. However, the Anthony Joshua fight ended was his own violent introduction to the canvas. So, what are Ngannou’s chances against a concussive juggernaut like Wilder? UFC veteran Brendan Schaub believes Ngannou “has a better opportunity to win.”

However, Schaub still considers Ngannou the underdog. “Deontay’s been in there, he’s just a pure boxer. His heavyweight run, which is over, but his heavyweight run is one of the greatest of all time. One of my favorite fighters of all time. Absolutely adore Deontay Wilder, worked with him many times, love the dude. Francis would still be an underdog in that fight, not as much as with Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua, but he has a way better shot of winning this fight than Tyson or Anthony Joshua.”

RELATED : Anthony Joshua is under pressure as Tyson Fury’s possible return looms….

Schaub’s take holds merit. Since turning pro in 2008, the Alabama native has established himself as one of boxing’s most dangerous heavyweights. From 2015 to 2020, he reigned as the WBC heavyweight champion, becoming the first American to claim the title since 2007. Over 48 career bouts, he has secured 43 victories—42 by knockout—earning him the chilling nickname “Dr. Sleep.” His raw power is undeniable, with 20 of those knockouts coming in the very first round. With a staggering 97.67% knockout rate, the highest in heavyweight history, Deontay Wilder poses a serious threat to the Cameroonian.

But behind these moments lies the tale of a man who dared challenge Rome itself. When Dana White presented golden handcuffs disguised as a UFC contract, Ngannou did the unthinkable—he walked away from the heavyweight throne, demanding revolutionary concessions: fair pay, healthcare, and the freedom to box. The emperor refused. The champion left. Now, as Ngannou stalks the ‘Bronze Bomber’ from across combat sports’ divided kingdom, one truth becomes clear: some predators refuse to be caged, even in an Octagon. However, a UFC veteran recently voiced concerns about Francis Ngannou’s chances.

Daniel Cormier voices his concerns about the “lost” Francis Ngannou

“I get to have a good four-fight plan in boxing,” Francis Ngannou stated during his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience last year. “I think that could be good. You know, you get like a good four fights, and then you build, like, know who and who should be next. That could be my potential retirement plan.”

For MMA fighters, transitioning to boxing has proven to be a financial jackpot, offering significantly larger paydays than mixed martial arts. This shift gained traction in 2017 when Conor McGregor stepped into the ring against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what became the most lucrative crossover fight in combat sports history—a “red pa–y night” every fighter dreams of. Now 38, Ngannou understands the financial potential boxing presents. With only a few years left before retirement, he focuses on capitalizing on every opportunity. His return to the boxing ring aligns with that goal, as he now prepares to face Deontay Wilder, famously known as “Dr. Sleep.”

Daniel dubois

However, former UFC champion Daniel Cormier has raised concerns over ‘The Predator’s decision to return to boxing against Deontay Wilder, pointing to his previous performances against Fury and Anthony Joshua“Sure, he’s going to make a boatload of money—he always does—but at what point do you stop and say, ‘I don’t know?’ Because to me, it seems like he’s up against it again. Maybe he truly is the biggest, baddest man on the planet, and he doesn’t care about the odds. Maybe he just wants to prove everyone wrong, like he did the first time when he fought Tyson Fury and took him to a very close fight,” Cormier remarked.

What do you think of Brendan Schaub’s comments? Do you believe Deontay Wilder might present a smaller challenge to Francis Ngannou compared to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua? Share your thoughts below.

Anthony Joshua is under pressure as Tyson Fury’s possible return looms. Will he refuse to fight the Gypsy King again?

One of the most disappointing missed opportunities in boxing was the much-desired fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, which English fans waited years for. Despite multiple negotiationsthe British heavyweight clash never materialized, and talks repeatedly broke down. Finally, it was Fury who dealt the final blow.

In January 2025, the former WBC heavyweight championTyson Fury, announced his retirement from the sport, thus closing any possibility of a fight against Joshua. This came after he suffered his second career defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last December in Riyadh. Everyone expected that with Fury’s defeat, he would be on equal terms with Joshua.

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua was also succumbed three times: once against Usyk, once against Mexican Andy Ruiz and finally by Daniel Dubois last year at Wembley. So a fight between Fury and Joshua seemed possible, but Fury’s retirement announcement, which he had announced well in advance, dashed all hopes.

It is worth noting that in April 2022, Tyson Fury hung up his gloves after defeating Dillian Whyte, but the Briton returned to action last year.

Therefore, the obligatory question reached the ears of Anthony Joshua“Tyson Fury is in the rings again, would you dare to fight him?” His answers dodged any concrete answer. The media wants to hear something definitive: Yes or No. So he closed with the following statement: “I think it’s probably best to ask Eddie Hearn (Joshua’s promoter).”

However, he hinted at a hope to see the fight between JOSHUA vs FURY“I feel like it’s the best fight. A fight against Fury will be commercially favourable and against a great man. So I think it makes sense”.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has revived hopes. Despite Tyson Fury’s retirement and two consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, Alalshikh believes that “The Gypsy King” could return if the right numbers are put on the cheques.

Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren insists his fighter is “happily retired”, but Alalshikh’s influence in boxing has fueled speculation for English and boxing fans in general to expect the arrival of the “Battle of British Heavyweights”.

Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua cannot believe the brutal knockout they just witnessed via Joseph Parker

There’s few things in professional sports that can match the excitement and power displayed on a knockout during a boxing fight.

The power, speed and brutality of seeing a person fall down after getting hit by another human being is undescribable. That’s probably one of the reasons why people pay big bucks to see that kind of action live.

And that’s probably one of the reasons why boxing fans will much rather see a great knockout than a display of technique in the boxing ring. Mike Tyson, Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Vitali Klitschko are just some of the names that come to mind when we think about knockouts.

Usyk and Joshua get impressed by a brutal knockout

Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol took the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring titles from Artur Beterbiev – also from Russia -, the man who became the undisputed champ in October 2024 when he defeated Bivol by majority decision.

The fight was the main event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout right before the Bivol vs. Beterbiev rematch saw New Zealand Joseph Parker take on Martin Bakole, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The battle gave fans all around the world one of the best knockouts of the year.

During the second round, Parker‘s right hand clipped Bakole on the head, causing his legs to buckle and eventually, the boxer fell to the canvas, struggling to regain his balance. Even though he attempted to use the ropes to recover, the ref stopped the match, declaring Park the winner.

The hit delivered by the boxer from New Zealand was so impressive that it left fans in attendance screaming in awe of the perfect execution. Among those in attendance were Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the undisputed heavyweight championship belt.

Seated next to Usyk was former heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua. Both men couldn’t hide their shock when they got to witness the brutal knockout via Parker.
