Anthony Joshua was largely out-gunned by Daniel Dubois last September at Wembley Stadium, but managed to almost turn the tide towards the end.

A good run of form for the 35-year-old Brit was ended dramatically by new IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois back in September last year.

Following Tyson Fury’s second loss to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua’s team made it clear that they were targetting a long-awaited grudge match with ‘The Gypsy King.’ Fury’s retirement last month put paid to that, and promoter Eddie Hearn recently told Ariel Helwani that a rematch with ‘DDD’ is the target.

“The mojo’s back. He’s back in camp. He will be watching the Riyadh fight, the world heavyweight championship. Look, in his mind he wants to fight Daniel Dubois. Don’t forget, he’s a fighter. Tyson Fury may have announced his retirement, but there is still plenty of hope he will fight Anthony Joshua.

The first of those in May was for all four belts and undisputed honours. Fury lost narrowly on points. The second was for three of the four belts and saw the Ukrainian take the win again, handing Fury his second professional loss.

Anthony Joshua delivered his verdict, ‘I Have Fought Daniel Dubois & Joseph Parker – Here’s Who Wins Fight’

Anthony Joshua has delivered his verdict on what he thinks the outcome of Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker will be later this month. Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion, has shared the ring with both men who are due to meet in a title bout on the 22nd of February

AJ beat Parker in 2018, delivering the New Zealander the first loss of his professional career, losing his WBO title in the process. Dubois and Joshua then squared off last September, with Dynamite knocking AJ down four times before he eventually knocked him out for good in the fifth round.

However, it’s not Dubois that Joshua is tipping for victory.

In a post on Turki Alalshikh’s X account, Joshua backed Parker to prevail later this month, as the 33-year-old bids to become a two-time world heavyweight champion.

Parker has seen a resurgence under new trainer Andy Lee in the past 18 months with wins over Simon Kean, Deontay Wilder, and Zhilei Zhang. Much like Parker, however, Dubois himself has been on a great run of late. Dynamite has won all three of his fights since a controversial loss to Oleksandr Usyk in August 2023, with wins against Joshua, Filip Hrgovic, and Jarrell Miller.

As well as Joshua, former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury also believes Parker will stand victorious against Dubois, but that should come as no surprise given that they are close friends.

The Juggernaut has beaten both fighters

Joe Joyce is the only boxer to have beaten both Parker and Dubois, and while speaking about the upcoming fight himself, he told Fight Hub TV: “Parker is very tricky, he’s hungry, he’s still young, and he’s getting stronger as well. He looks strong, he’s had a great camp, he’s tricky. Dubois hits hard and they both have good momentum. It’s a tough fight for both and may the best man win.”

When pressed for a prediction, he said: “Thinking about it, I was going to say methods of victory. Parker is more likely to go points. Dubois is more likely to finish by knockout.”

The winner of the bout will put themselves in a good position for a unification match-up against Usyk. Dubois has already confronted the Ukrainian in the ring after his victory over Tyson Fury in December 2024. The 27-year-old Brit grabbed a microphone and said: “I want my revenge, Usyk.”

Tyson Fury will be Anthony Joshua’s next opponent, not me, says British rival Derek Chisora

Derek Chisora has suggested three possible opponents for his next and likely final career fight.

After Saturday’s victory over Otto Wallin, Chisora canvased the crowd as to whether they wanted to see him fight Daniel Dubois, the IBF heavyweight titlist, Oleksandr Usyk, the unified WBC, WBA and WBO champion, or Anthony Joshua.

Joshua remains a major star in British boxing but he has not managed to reclaim a world title since his first loss to Usyk.

He lost a 2022 rematch to Usyk and Dubois, now the IBF champion, knocked him out last September inside five rounds.

Chisora has always been on good terms with Joshua. They both boxed for the same amateur club, Finchley ABC, and now Chisora’s career is handled by Joshua’s management company.

After his win over Wallin as he looks at imminent retirement, Chisora said: “I need something big. I think I’ve earned something big.”

“Who knows? Right now AJ is healing himself after the defeat from Daniel Dubois. He’s not ready yet. When he’s ready he’ll come back and I think he’ll come back – not to fight me but to fight the ‘Gypsy King’,” Chisora said post-fight.

“I’ll let the public decide [who next]. I’ll let you guys decide.”

Boxing Francis Ngannou, an MMA heavyweight champion in both UFC and PFL, in a crossover event has no great appeal for Chisora.

“I don’t think Francis Ngannou will come back to boxing after the AJ loss,” he said. “I want to fight a fighter.”

Then he joked: “I might fight Jake Paul, who knows?”

Chisora has now had 49 professional contests, including fights with Oleksandr Usyk, Vitali Klitschko and a trilogy with Tyson Fury.

Anthony Joshua versus Deontay Wilder is a huge heavyweight contest that could be made with both men edging towards the end of their careers, and it’s one that Roy Jones Jr is keen to see.

These two stars of the banner division ruled as champions at the same time with separate organisations for many years. Despite that, they never managed to arrange to fight one another and eventually, both got dethroned.

It was Tyson Fury who beat Wilder in two epic fights as part of a three-fight trilogy, and since then Wilder has fought three more times.

He got an easy win over Robert Helenius but then lost on points to Joseph Parker without ever really throwing a shot in anger, and was dismantled and stopped inside five rounds by Zhilei Zhang last time out in June 2024.

Former two-time champion Joshua meanwhile lost back-to-back contests with Oleksandr Usyk, rebuilt with wins over the likes of Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou, then lost again in September at the fists of IBF champion Daniel Dubois.

Who he fights next is up in the air after Fury retired, but Wilder remains one option.

Speaking to iFL TV, multi-weight great Jones was asked about the potential showdown and is backing AJ to get the win.

“I think Joshua has a better chance of winning that fight. I don’t think Joshua is as damaged as Wilder. Wilder showed with Parker he really didn’t want it any more. I don’t know, we’ll have to see what Wilder shows up.”

It recently emerged that Joshua was rumoured to be in talks with Martin Bakole about a huge fight in Africa. However, in a new post on X, Bakole’s trainer Billy Nelson accuses Hearn – who has guided the ‘AJ’s career since he turned over from the Olympics – of making up excuses so it doesn’t happen.

Derek Chisora wants ‘blockbuster’ fight for No. 50 as he lines up Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk or Daniel Dubois

Derek Chisora was an emphatic winner on Saturday night as he clinched a dominant win over Otto Wallin at ‘The Last Dance’ in Manchester. That unanimous victory earned him the chance to challenge for the IBF heavyweight championship against Daniel Dubois, but he also put forward both Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua as potential opponents. Promoter Frank Warren would not rule out any opponent.

Derek Chisora said he was “crying like a baby” ahead of his 49th fight but is aiming for a “blockbuster” against Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk or Daniel Dubois.

Saturday night in Manchester saw Chisora win the IBF heavyweight eliminator against Otto Wallin, which could potentially put him on course for an encounter with Dubois in the summer, assuming the champion defeats Joseph Parker on February 22.

Speaking to TNT Sports after his victory, Chisora reflected on his victory on points.

He said: “Otto Wallin was a good fighter. I thought he was going to gas out, but he didn’t, and he proved me wrong. When I arrived, I said to myself, I won’t cry. I started crying like a baby. I was in tears because I love the sport and I love the fans… the ups and downs. It was a very emotional day.

“It was a hard fight. It was very hard when I got the cut and something happened in the third round that I didn’t tell my trainers.”

Discussing his achievements so far, he added: “Legacy, it’s made by the fans. I think I’ll be in the Hall of Fame when I’m dead, not now. I love it.”
