‘Keep them up’ – Anthony Joshua posts new training footage and fans all notice same thing

Anthony Joshua has begun training again for the first time since losing to Daniel Dubois.

The British heavyweight has yet to pencil in his next showdown in the squared circle, having been brutally dropped three times and stopped by Daniel Dubois in September.

He is eyeing a ring return in 2025, and has been linked with a number of fights including against Martin Bakole.

Joshua is expected to wait for the winner of this weekend’s clash between Dubois and Joseph Parker before making his next move.

But in the meantime, AJ has decided to begin working out again.

He posted two videos of training footage, one on the beach shirtless where he still looked in impressive shape.

And his workout continued by night, as he then posted another video of himself boxing against a gazebo, not afraid to use any objects he can.

Fans were trying to spot any clues as to his current condition and potential next fight.

And they all noticed he was working on his defence while throwing punches, keeping his hands firmly up.

One wrote: “He’s keeping his hands up, needs to make sure he does that in his next fight.”

Another added: “Yeah now he needs to keep them up, especially so he doesn’t visit hook city.”

A viewer agreed: “He needs to keep working on his defence to protect his chin.”

Other fans gave a more optimistic take, with one writing: “3x heavyweight champion coming soon.”

But others were less so, with one writing: “Bakole beats him.”

A viewer even joked: “He needs to train his chin instead.”

Despite his defeat, Joshua is still viewed as a leading heavyweight and will be hoping to return into the world title mix this year.

He was first keen to face Tyson Fury in a two-fight deal which was expected to be his main pursuit in 2025.

But the ‘Gypsy King’ retired and appeared to put a damaging blow to Joshua’s chances of settling his rivalry.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has now suggested the winner of Dubois vs Parker will now be the primary target.

“Right now because Tyson Fury is retired, so put him to the side, the number one choice for AJ is to fight for the world heavyweight title,” Hearn told Betfred.

“That’s 99 per cent of what he wants to do and if that’s Daniel Dubois, no problem. If that’s Joseph Parker, no problem.

“It’s not me saying he can’t fight Daniel Dubois. Some people say he shouldn’t have fought Oleksandr Usyk. What are you talking about?

Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker

“It’s your job, he’s the mandatory, what do you want to do?

“Give your belt up and have all that criticism that you ducked Usyk and you vacated your belt to do it?”

I want to avenge my losses: Joseph Parker to rematch Anthony Joshua if he beats Daniel Dubois?

Joseph Parker still has goals. He wants “to be champion of the world, to be unified champion of the world and to avenge the losses that I’ve had. And then retire”.

That effort all starts for him when he challenges Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight world title, live on Sky Sports Box Office, when the New Zealander bids to become a two-time heavyweight world champion on Saturday’s Riyadh Season event.

Seeking to avenge losses would lead him to a rematch with Anthony Joshua, who beat Parker in 2018 to pick up the WBO title the New Zealander then held.

But, if Parker does beat Dubois – a tough assignment in itself – AJ though might not get an immediate shot at that IBF belt.

Parker could take on Usyk for the undisputed crown, or rematch Dubois immediately.

“It’s not locked in as a rematch but it’s a possibility that it could happen,” Parker said.

“Fight Daniel, win, not sure if there’s a rematch or if I can fight Usyk or whatever else they have planned for me. It’s just to fight Daniel and see what’s next.

Parker is convinced he will beat Dubois because “I feel like we know what he’s going to do”.

He explained: “It’s not like a surprise, you know what he’s going to do – he’s going to come forward and throw shots.

“I do have to be on point. I have to be a lot better than I was with [Zhilei] Zhang and [Deontay] Wilder. I feel like I have to because of the pressure he comes with and also the combinations that he throws. He’s a powerhouse. So I have to be a lot better and a lot more on my game.

“We’ve come with a good plan to be able to get out of the position of what he’s going to bring and to counter back with what we’re going to bring.”

‘He knows’ – Terence Crawford names the only two boxers who can beat Gervonta Davis

Terence Crawford believes Gervonta Davis is beatable.

‘Tank’ has been an impossible puzzle for his opponents to crack so far and boasts an unblemished 30-0 record

Davis holds the WBA belt in a stacked lightweight division that is crying out for unification bouts.

Vasyl Lomachenko owns the IBF title, Shakur Stevenson is in possession of the WBC belt while Keyshawn Davis recently snatched the WBO strap away from Denys Berinchyk on Valentine’s Day with a sickening body shot KO.

Terence Crawford was in attendance to watch his training partner dispatch Berinchyk and told FightHype in the immediate aftermath that Gervonta wouldn’t fare well against Keyshawn or Shakur.

“Tank knows what it is up,” he said. “He knows what he is up against if he is going to fight Shakur or Keyshawn.

“He wants to fight these guys that everybody in the world know aren’t going to give him a fight.

“They aren’t mentally there, they might have a little skill here and there but mentality-wise they are not going to be able to keep it up the whole fight.

“And those two guys [Shakur and Keyshawn] are going to be the ones to give him his first Ls.”

Both Shakur and Keyshawn are of the same thinking and expressed their opinions on a possible showdown with Gervonta during exclusive interviews with talkSPORT.com over the last few weeks.

Keyshawn beamed with confidence as he compared a match-up with Gervonta to the beating Crawford dished out on Errol Spence Jr in July 2023 for the undisputed welterweight crown.

“I see myself putting the same beating on Gervonta as Terence did [on Spence],” Keyshawn told talkSPORT.com

“I feel like his style is perfect for my style. I’m young, I don’t think it will go the full 12 but I can fight 12 rounds if it comes down to it.

“The only thing we are always going to mention is that one punch.

Terence Crawford

“I have power and I’ve knocked fighters out with one punch but he has done it consecutive times.

“We know he has got that one punch but we don’t know yet what I truly have because I only have 12 fights and I’ve only been fighting on a truly elite level for three fights, this fight will be my fourth [against Berinchyk].

“So there is a lot of factors that you don’t know yet. I am better than I am showing you guys already.”

Stevenson has been chasing the Gervonta fight for several years to no avail and still doesn’t know why it hasn’t gotten across the line, although he knows the man who can make it happen.

He’s the big superstar, he’s the big name, the biggest pay-per-view superstar in the sport of boxing so with him being the biggest name and attraction it’s on him [to make it happen],” Stevenson told talkSPORT.com

“Turki has got the money, I don’t have the money to send Gervonta Davis a big enough offer.

“I don’t know why it hasn’t happened, he is a weird human being.

“I don’t have much respect for him to be honest.”

Providing he comes through the fight unscathed he is expected to fight one of the three champions next.

Former Tyson Fury And Anthony Joshua Opponent Now Wants To Fight Wladimir Klitschko

Wladimir Klitschko has long teased a return to the ring and continues to refuse to rule it out.

Alongside his brother Vitali, Klitschko dominated the heavyweight division between 2004 and 2015 before suffering a loss to Tyson Fury and losing his unified belts. He returned two years later for a fire-fight with Anthony Joshua but ultimately came up short again, this time inside the distance

Wladimir Klitschko would hang up the gloves then with a record of 64 victories from 69 fights, holding the record for most wins and title defences of the unified championship.

Should he indeed decide to come back, there are plenty who would take the fight, not least MMA superstar Francis Ngannou, who has also lost to Fury and ‘AJ’ in his two boxing bouts.

When speaking to Sportsbook Review about his ring return, Ngannou named Klitschko as a potential.

“Wladimir Klitschko could be an option.”

While a bout with Ngannou represents an easier return for the Ukrainian compared to some of the current top contenders, he has made it clear that his comeback would be focused on breaking George Foreman’s record as the oldest heavyweight world champion in history. Ngannou, as box office as he is, cannot provide that.

Klitschko will instead have eyes on the winner of the Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker fight at the end of this month. Should Dubois keep a hold of his belt, he has already said he would be happy to welcome the former long-reigning champion back into the game.

Wladimir Klitschko

However, another Ukrainian in Oleksandr Usyk – who would never step through the ropes with his countryman Klitschko – may halt that, as he himself is targeting the winner of Dubois-Parker for a chance to become two-time undisputed in the division.

Ngannou has also mentioned Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora as options for his return to the ring.

“He’s Crazy” Oleksandr Usyk Has Changed His Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Prediction: “He’s Crazy”

Oleksandr Usyk has had a change of heart when it comes to Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford.

Two of the current pound-for-pound greats are set to go head-to-head when Canelo and Crawford collide in Las Vegas in September

‘Bud’ will be stepping up two weight divisions for the fight and will have the opportunity to become undisputed in a third division, provided that Canelo can first defeat IBF champion William Scull in May.

Another man that knows full well what it is like to be a pound-for-pound great and an undisputed champion is Usyk, having been the sole ruler of both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions at various points in his career.

The Ukrainian became undisputed cruiserweight champion with wins over the likes of Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev, before repeating the feat at heavyweight after defeating Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Usyk first discussed the Canelo vs Crawford match-up back in June, telling The 3 Knockdown Rule podcast that he would back the American to come out on top.

“I like Terence. He’s a crazy man.

“Terence win. Listen, Terence is different man. Terence works on two sides. Right and left, he’s very smart man. He feels distance and space.”

“Canelo big, yeah, good boxer, but I say, Terence. Terence can box him like a big guy.”

Now that the fight has been officially agreed, Usyk has changed his stance and no longer seems as confident, after he was asked by TNT Sports who he thinks wins the fight and called it a pick ’em

Usyk isn’t the only big name to change their mind when it comes to Canelo vs. Crawford, with boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya also making a new prediction on the bout.

“Being Honest”Daniel Dubois Finally Delivers His Verdict On Anthony Joshua’s Power

Anthony Joshua was largely out-gunned by Daniel Dubois last September at Wembley Stadium, but managed to almost turn the tide towards the end.

Dubois, who had been elevated to IBF Champion, entered the ring an underdog. Despite that, he hurt ‘AJ’ significantly in the first round with a shot that would shape the entire contest

Joshua showed incredible heart to stick around, being dropped a total of four times before the eventual fifth round ending. Before the final shot put him down and rendered him unable to make the referee’s count, he had his best success of the fight.

A right hand put Dubois on the back-foot and got the crowd on their feet. ‘AJ’ would land two more before ‘rolling the dice’ by throwing an uppercut only to be caught on the way in

Speaking to the Ring Magazine, Dubois said the shot in question was like ‘a bomb going off

“Honestly, it was a quick thing. It was in the moment. I just composed myself. It was a hell of a shot. I’ve watched it back and I’ve heard the sound. It’s like a bomb going off. But yeah [I’ve got a good chin], I just composed myself, studied what I was doing and took the chance, took victory.”

There may be a rematch down the line, it is certainly a fight Joshua wants, however Dubois first defends his belt against Joseph Parker on February 22. Should he retain it, he will look to face unified champion Oleksandr Usyk to become undisputed.

Meanwhile, Joshua is in the market for an opponent after Tyson Fury announced his retirement and put paid to talks of a long-awaited clash.

I was KO’d by Terence Crawford but identified his lethal weapon which will see him beat Canelo Alvarez

Shawn Porter has felt the wrath of Terence Crawford but is backing his former foe to dethrone Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford is one of boxing’s most talented pound-for-pound fighters now, and his record at world level speaks for itself having won world titles in four weight classes.

Despite his achievements already, ‘Bud’ is set to step beyond the ropes for the biggest examination of his boxing credentials yet.

The American will face fellow modern-era great and boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez in a mega-fight in Las Vegas in September, with huge commercial interest in the event.

It could be a fitting end to a stellar career if he is able to beat the Mexican, but it will be an uphill battle.

Terence Crawford will be giving away size advantages as he prepares to step up to Alvarez’s weight class of 168lbs, a 14lbs increase.

Given the disparity, many boxing experts and pundits make Alvarez the favourite going into their intriguing clash of styles.

But Porter, a former rival of Crawford in 2021 who was brutally stopped in the tenth round of their clash, thinks differently.

The talented American is now a friend of Crawford and knows exactly first hand what it is like to be taken apart by the gifted champion.

In his defeat to Bivol, Alvarez struggled to jump up in weight and ultimately struggled against the natural weighted fighter in the Russian.

Crawford will hope not to face the same issues, but is already walking around well above the targeted 168lbs weight.

Terence Crawford

His fast hands and elite boxing IQ will be matched by Alvarez, with a chess-match like battle in the exchanges expected.

But Crawford himself believes his advantages lay in his patient ability to wear down opponents.

He said: “I’m the type of guy who likes to feel my fighters out and adjust to what they’re doing.

“I think that’s my greatest attribute, to be able to figure out every opponent I’ve faced thus far.

“I’m looking to do the same come fight time when the Canelo fight happens…

“People say, ‘You’re too small’ or ‘You’re outmatched’ or ‘You don’t belong in the ring with these types of fighters.’

“That’s when great fighters perform their best…

“I’m going to feel great [at 168lbs]. I don’t need to worry about the weight. I know I’m going to feel great.

“I’ve got a lot of things to prepare on. That’s part of boxing – [meeting] milestones you’ve got to hit.”

Boxing fans can expect a war of attrition in Sin City, with the legacy-defining bout to be arguably 2025’s biggest.

“That’s A Bad Night For You” Carl Froch Warns Anthony Joshua To Avoid The One Fight He Wants Next: “That’s A Bad Night For You”

Anthony Joshua is currently plotting one final crack at the top of heavyweight division

A good run of form for the 35-year-old Brit was ended dramatically by new IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois back in September last year.

Following Tyson Fury’s second loss to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua’s team made it clear that they were targetting a long-awaited grudge match with ‘The Gypsy King.’ Fury’s retirement last month put paid to that, and promoter Eddie Hearn recently told Ariel Helwani that a rematch with ‘DDD’ is the target.

“The mojo’s back. He’s back in camp. He will be watching the Riyadh fight, the world heavyweight championship. Look, in his mind he wants to fight Daniel Dubois. Don’t forget, he’s a fighter. You’d never get a fighter look at the Dubois rematch and go ‘oh I won’t be taking that.’ They always want to avenge defeat. And it comes with the world heavyweight championship.”

Dubois puts his belt on the line against Joseph Parker later this month.

Speaking on Froch on Fighting about Fury’s retirement and where it leaves Joshua, ‘The Cobra’ warned ‘AJ’ off taking a second fight with his hard-hitting countryman due to the beating he took first time out.

“What next for Anthony Joshua? Cause he’s been beating the drum for the fight with Tyson Fury for a couple of weeks now … Martin Bakole? Maybe. Forget about it, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

“[Eddie Hearn] is talking about the winner of Daniel Dubois versus Joseph Parker for AJ. AJ isn’t gonna want to fight Dubois again. AJ shouldn’t want to fight Dubois again. It’s a bad fight for him, it really is. The Parker fight’s interesting. If Parker beats Dubois, you’d probably fancy Parker in that one.”

Anthony joshua,Daniel dubois

The decision may be taken from Joshua’s hands due to the fact that Usyk, who holds almost all of the cards, has stated clearly that he himself wants to take on the winner of Dubois vs Parker for a chance to become two-time undisputed in the division.

“Sparring Is Different From Fighting” Dillian Whyte Predicts Anthony Joshua vs Martin Bakole

Anthony Joshua and Martin Bakole are frequently mentioned to co-star in a thrilling heavyweight clash.

Former two-time champion Joshua is currently looking for a comeback fight after suffering a big knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in his bid to get the belt for the third time. Whilst Bakole – who has been riding a wave since his KO over Jared Anderson last year – would be a dangerous choice, the Brit has made it clear that he will fight all comers

Speaking to IFL TV, former Joshua opponent Dillian Whyte disagreed with those saying the risk was all ‘AJ’s.

“I think that’s a great fight. Everyone says it’s dangerous fight for AJ but, me personally, I don’t think so. I think Bakole’s very confident. Confident from the sparring, confident from his last two, three performances. I think that works in AJ’s favour. I think he’s gonna walk to AJ with his hands down, try to fight AJ the same way he fought Jared Anderson. He’ll run into a big shot and get knocked out

“Anthony Joshua’s a big puncher. If you stand in front of AJ, he will knock you out. He won’t have to go and look for Bakole, Bakole’s gonna be right in front of him. AJ struggles with people with good boxing and movement.”

As for the infamous sparring sessions in which Bakole claims to have left Joshua on shaky legs, Whyte warned that those gym sessions play out very different than in the professional ring.

“You might be winning in sparring, but the fight’s different. In sparring you’ve got three or four sparring partners doing two rounds in, two rounds out. It’s you alone against three or four top heavyweights. A fight is me and you alone in there with 10 ounce gloves on for twelve rounds.

“AJ’s a big puncher. I’d actually pick AJ to win that fight … And AJ’s not my friend.”

Before the match-up can be discussed, Bakole has a final eliminator for the IBF mandatory slot in May against Efe Ajagba. Should he win, he will be in pole position to face champion Dubois

“He Has All The Advantages” Tim Bradley Performs Big U-Turn On Canelo vs Terence Crawford Verdict

Retired world champion Timothy Bradley has made a significant u-turn on his initial prediction for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’ upcoming mega-fight against Terence Crawford.

The 41-year-old two-weight world champion already had his say on the showdown between two of boxing’s biggest names, which is due to take place in Las Vegas this September following weeks of negotiations

Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Bradley didn’t hesitate to predict a clear victory for ‘Bud’ Crawford, who is bidding to become a five-weight world champion.

“I woke up 3am and something told me to study Canelo and study Crawford. Crawford is about to beat the sh*t out of Canelo Alvarez. I’m letting you know right now. He’s about to beat the breaks off of Canelo Alvarez.”

However, just a few weeks after predicting such a comprehensive win for the 37-year-old, Bradley has now spoken out and revealed he has had a change of heart.

READ MORE : He does’nt has Any Chance: Jaron Ennis Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Terence…

Speaking to FightHype.com, the 41-year-old admitted that it was a much closer contest than he first assessed, and that

“All the advantages favour Canelo. The weight advantage, he’s been at 168 for a while now, you know he was the undisputed champion but again, he’s the unified champion there and he’s beat some quality opponents. This is gonna be a hell of a challenge for Crawford. This won’t be easy. No. I know I like to clown. I think it’s definitely a winnable fight for him. I think anything is possible … If anybody’s gonna get the job done I think Crawford has that ability.”

Before he clashes with ‘Bud’ Crawford, the 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico is due to face IBF super middleweight champion William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, which gives him the opportunity to become a two-time undisputed champion at 168lbs, making the September showdown all the more interesting for both fighters.
