Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua cannot believe the brutal knockout they just witnessed via Joseph Parker

There’s few things in professional sports that can match the excitement and power displayed on a knockout during a boxing fight.

The power, speed and brutality of seeing a person fall down after getting hit by another human being is undescribable. That’s probably one of the reasons why people pay big bucks to see that kind of action live.

And that’s probably one of the reasons why boxing fans will much rather see a great knockout than a display of technique in the boxing ring. Mike Tyson, Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Vitali Klitschko are just some of the names that come to mind when we think about knockouts.

Usyk and Joshua get impressed by a brutal knockout

Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol took the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring titles from Artur Beterbiev – also from Russia -, the man who became the undisputed champ in October 2024 when he defeated Bivol by majority decision.

The fight was the main event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout right before the Bivol vs. Beterbiev rematch saw New Zealand Joseph Parker take on Martin Bakole, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The battle gave fans all around the world one of the best knockouts of the year.

During the second round, Parker‘s right hand clipped Bakole on the head, causing his legs to buckle and eventually, the boxer fell to the canvas, struggling to regain his balance. Even though he attempted to use the ropes to recover, the ref stopped the match, declaring Park the winner.

The hit delivered by the boxer from New Zealand was so impressive that it left fans in attendance screaming in awe of the perfect execution. Among those in attendance were Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the undisputed heavyweight championship belt.

Seated next to Usyk was former heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua. Both men couldn’t hide their shock when they got to witness the brutal knockout via Parker.

Joshua is under pressure as Tyson Fury’s possible return looms

One of the most disappointing missed opportunities in boxing was the much-desired fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, which English fans waited years for. Despite multiple negotiations, the British heavyweight clash never materialized, and talks repeatedly broke down. Finally, it was Fury who dealt the final blow.

In January 2025, the former WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, announced his retirement from the sport, thus closing any possibility of a fight against Joshua. This came after he suffered his second career defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last December in Riyadh. Everyone expected that with Fury’s defeat, he would be on equal terms with Joshua.

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua was also succumbed three times: once against Usyk, once against Mexican Andy Ruiz and finally by Daniel Dubois last year at Wembley. So a fight between Fury and Joshua seemed possible, but Fury’s retirement announcement, which he had announced well in advance, dashed all hopes.

Parker vs Bakole – R1 Joseph Parker Brutally going harder on Martin Bakole LIVE RESULTS

An almost comically static start from Bakole who isn’t on his toes and is just standing waiting for Parker to come forward.

The Kiwi isn’t quite prepared to do that in this first round and is content to fire out a couple of jabs.

Not much action or landing so far as the two massive fighters size each other up.

Parker definitely looks better, though, as he fires off a decent one-two in the final minute of the round.

Bakole finally makes his move inside the final 20 seconds and lands a massive shot to end the round!

Well, that certainly will have woken Parker up!

Here they come

Martin Bakole is first to the ring as he arrives draped in the Congolese flag and a plain black t-shirt.

Then comes Joseph Parker – at the heaviest weight of his career – in a red gown with a glittery hoodie.

This is an absolutely top quality heavyweight fight and, remember, an eliminator for the WBO title, currently held by Oleksandr Usyk.

Joseph Parker spoke in the ring and pleaded his case for a world title next.

He was meant to fight Daniel Dubois for the IBF title tonight and he is still the WBO mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk.

As one of the most in-form heavyweights in boxing, he thoroughly deserves a title shot next.

Parker said: “Martin Bakole thanks for accepting the challenge and flying all the way here.

“I listened, stayed calm, structured composed and got the victory.

“I want to fight for the world title next.

“We’ve got Frank [Warren] here… I want a world title next.

“When I came back to the corner, Andy [Lee] gave me instructions to be patient, when he comes in throw the overhand right.”

Asked if he would prefer to fight Usyk or Dubois, Parker said: “I will fight anyone and everyone.”

CURRENT LIVE RESULTS: Joseph Parker vs Martin Bakole Huge fight ON NOW as Parker faces tricky Dubois replacement – updates

JOSEPH PARKER is facing Martin Bakole RIGHT NOW in a huge heavyweight bout in Saudi Arabia!

Joseph Parker was due to face Daniel Dubois for DDD’s IBF world title, but the British champion withdrew from the fight on Thursday due to illness.

In stepped Bakole in his place, who will be looking to seize his opportunity on tonight’s blockbuster Artur Beterbiv vs Dmitry Bivol card in Riyadh.

The pair will battle for Parker’s WBO interim world title, with the winner of the bout becoming the WBO mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the full title.

Quick night’s work

Well that didn’t last long at all – 5mins and 17 seconds in total.

Should various reports on the internet be believed then Bakole earned around $600,000 for his short trip to Saudi Arabia.

He took a massive shot but it was a no-lose situation for the Congolese star.

Nice work if you can get it.

Big shot rocks Bakole

It was a massive overhand right that sent Bakole tumbling.

It landed on the top of his big thick head and while Bakole didn’t tumble straight to the floor, his legs went like jelly and he went stumbling backwards.

“He Knows Now”: Canelo Gives His Honest Rating Of Terence Crawford’s Last Performance At 154

Canelo Alvarez has based Terence Crawford’s chances of defeating him on the American’s last showing against Israil Madrimov.

The 34-year-old from Mexico is gearing up to face ‘Bud’ Crawford in a mega-fight later this year after the superstars finally agreed on a clash after months of negotiations.

Crawford made the move up to 154lbs last August to face WBA light middleweight champion Madrimov in Los Angeles. After a competitive contest that went the scheduled distance, the 37-year-old American was declared the winner via unanimous decision to become a four-division world champion.

Despite his spectacular career success, many prominent figures within the sport, including Canelo, were left far from impressed with Crawford’s performance against Madrimov and began to question if ‘Bud’ is taking it a step too far when he moves up to 168lbs this year.

Speaking to Sway’s Universe, Canelo gave an honest assessment of Crawford’s performance against Madrimov, where he believes Crawford looked slower at the higher weight and it will be an ‘easy fight’ for him at 168.

“Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great fighter but for me, in my weight class, it’s an easy fight. Easy money…

I don’t like to fight guys like Crawford because he moves a lot and the fight is not that great, I saw in his last fight and he doesn’t move that much now… there are weight classes for a reason.”

In a separate interview with Fight Hype, Canelo said he thought Crawford should have lost his undefeated record.

“He lost. I think he knows why there’s weight classes there, right? He make a good fight, but for me I think he lost the fight. Or draw. It could have been the other side.”

Crawford’s quest to becoming a five-weight world champion will not come easy, as he is faced with undeniably the toughest test of his glittering professional career against a man who has dominated the super middleweight division for almost five years.

Canelo will have the opportunity to re-capture the undisputed championship on May 3 when he faces IBF champion William Scull in Riyadh, leaving ‘Bud’ faced with the prospect of becoming a three-division undisputed champion if he can defy the odds against the Mexican superstar in September.

Dubois vs Parker Riyadh 2025: Daniel Dubois’ IBF title defence against Parker in jeopardy

Heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois’ IBF world title defence against Joseph Parker on Saturday is likely not to hold after Dubois reportedly fell sick in Riyadh.

Dubois is currently under medical evaluation and did not attend Thursday’s press conference in Saudi Arabia, raising concerns about his availability for the fight.

“Unfortunately, at this moment in time, Daniel is being evaluated by the doctor,” his promoter Frank Warren said. “When we have more news, we will share it with you and update you.”

A replacement opponent is reportedly being considered should the 27-year-old Dubois be deemed unfit to fight, but Parker, 33, remains on the card regardless of the final decision.

“If he is ill, I hope he gets better soon,” Parker said. “I am looking forward to Saturday and having a great show. I’ve put in all the hard work with my team in Ireland and here in Riyadh. I am ready to go.”

Parker attended the press conference alongside his manager, Spencer Brown, who confirmed that discussions are ongoing about the fight’s status.

“Joe will be there on Saturday, whatever happens, and he’s ready to win. Joe doesn’t care who he fights,” Brown added.

Dubois won the interim IBF heavyweight title by defeating Filip Hrgovic and was later elevated to world champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt. He successfully defended his title with a fifth-round stoppage victory over Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in September.

Parker previously held the WBO heavyweight title between 2015 and 2017.

Their bout was set to serve as the co-main event to the undisputed light-heavyweight showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

Also on the card, Briton Hamzah Sheeraz will challenge Carlos Adames for the WBC middleweight title.

“That’s The Plan” Anthony Joshua Has Now Set His Sights On Just One Fight For Comeback

Anthony Joshua is expected to return to the ring this summer.

‘Anthony Joshua’ last fought in September when he was stopped by Daniel Dubois inside five rounds at Wembley Stadium, denying Joshua the chance of becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion

It was then expected that he would turn his attention to an all-British showdown with Tyson Fury after ‘The Gypsy King’ lost his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in December, but those plans were dashed when Fury announced his retirement in January.

With several other options seemingly out there for Joshua, including the likes of Deontay Wilder and Martin Bakole, promoter Eddie Hearn has now explained to TalkSport what he expects to happen next, stating that there is only one fight that ‘AJ’ has on his mind.

“The plan and the goal for Anthony Joshua, always from now until he retires is to try and win the world heavyweight champion. To try and become a three-time world heavyweight champion.

“The other fight that we know at the moment is not available is Tyson Fury, he wanted that fight, but if you said to AJ ‘what do you want to do most next’ – He would say ‘I want to fight the winner of Dubois-Parker. I want another shot at the world heavyweight title.’ That’s a natural thing.

“You’ve got Bakole, you’ve got Wilder, you’ve got the winner of Kabayel vs Zhang, they’re all possible fights but you keep hearing about ‘AJ won’t fight this guy and won’t fight that guy.’ Come on, look at his resume.

“There is no doubt in AJ’s mind about who he’s fighting. He will step back in the ring with Dubois at any moment because he wants the gold. We’ve probably only got another year left, two fights, three fights max.

Joshua’s next fight could become clearer after the Dubois vs Parker fight this weekend, and he has already made his prediction for who he expects to win, though a big obstacle in the way is Usyk, who has made it clear he also wants the winner.

“I should be considered one of the best in history”: Terence Crawford already sees himself beating Canelo in his next fight

There are still seven months to go until the possible fight between Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, but the American is already creating scenarios and hypothetical cases in this fight that is not yet official, but everything would indicate that it is only a matter of time before it is formally announced.

Taking advantage of his time to prepare physically, Crawford was in an interview with Cigar Talk on Youtube, explaining every detail about the crazy idea of fighting against the pride of Mexico.

“I was in the gym, Bill Haney came up to me and said ‘forget about Spence, go fight Canelo instead. That’s your fight. That should be the one you’re looking for’. So whenever I ran into him, he would say to me: ‘Is the fight with Canelo ready?’ I just laughed,” confessed Bud with the interviewer

All of that started to make noise toTerence Crawford, that’s when he started to believe that it was a very good idea, especially because Bill Haney began to insist that Canelo was heavy, but he was not big, that he could beat him. These ideas began to convince Bud to ask for this fight to Turki Alalshikh.

A fight that would mark a legacy for his career

In the same talk, Bud confessed that while they were putting this idea of a fight with Canelo in his head, he began to believe that he could certainly fight him and that would put him on another level of greatness:

“Winning this fight will cement me as an all-time great, because there are too many fighters who did what I did, going from 135 pounds to 168,” confessed Terence

And he explained in more detail about his skills in the ring: “My arms are long, I am strong, I even dare to say that they underestimate my strength. He is not big, it is true, it is his category and he knows it very well, but we will see if it is true what he says that it will be easy,” concluded the 37-year-old boxer.

On the other hand, Canelo has a fight scheduled in Riyadh against William Scull, with every intention of taking the Cuban’s belt and having all the titles on the line in September.

Top Rank CEO Brad Jacobs: Tyson Fury would come out of retirement for Anthony Joshua fight, believes Top Rank CEO Brad Jacobs

Daniel Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker while Artur Beterbiev faces Dmitry Bivol in an undisputed light-heavyweight rematch as part of Riyadh Season; watch live on Sky Sports Box Office from 4pm on Saturday February 22

Tyson Fury could be tempted out of retirement by a British heavyweight showdown against Anthony Joshua, believes Top Rank COO Brad Jacobs.

Fury made headlines in January when he took to social media to claim he had ‘retired’ again following his rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December.

The announcement was taken with a pinch of salt by the boxing world after Fury had also ‘retired’ following his knockout victory over Dillian Whyte in April 2022, before returning to the ring six months later.

Had Fury won or lost against Usyk, a collision with Joshua felt as close to fruition as it had ever been. And there are still hopes the pair could meet at some stage in the not-so-distant future with both in the latter stages of their glittering careers.

“He looks like he’s happy retired and doing it, but he’s done that before,” Jacobs told Sky Sports.

“Nobody is in Tyson’s head, only himself, of course. I think an Anthony Joshua fight gets him out of retirement, if it’s the right situation and he feels right about it.

“But if not God bless him, he’s earned what he’s got

“I believe there is the potential for it. What happens nobody knows. Tyson has done shocking things before, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he did it again.”

While Fury is coming off back-to-back defeats to Usyk, Joshua himself is just months removed from his fifth-round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium last September.

It was a shock result that blunted what appeared as Joshua’s return to his explosive best after statement finishes against Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

Joshua has made no secret of his desire to face Fury before the end of his career, but that prospect remains theoretical for the time being.

“We’ll ask the question,” Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports. “Frank Warren was [saying]: ‘Well, he’s retired’. I know but it’s still my job to say we’re going to make our decision, just double-checking there’s no chance he’s going to fight.

READ MORE : ‘Let’s get them belts!’ Daniel Dubois wants to surpass Tyson Fury and Anthony…

“It’s not ‘we will make Fury an offer to get him out of retirement’. We’ll double-check.

“We’ll have our eyes fixed on Dubois-Parker in many ways. But that’s what AJ wants. He wants to fight for the world heavyweight title. So that’s the number one priority.

“Kabayel-Zhang [winner], he’s pretty relaxed about who he fights. At this stage he’s about trying to become a three-time world heavyweight champion. He missed out on that opportunity last time and he’d love another crack.”

Saturday night could see the heavyweight landscape alter again when Dubois defends his IBF belt against Joseph Parker, while Agit Kabayel faces Zhilei Zhang with aspirations of thrusting himself into world title contention.

Anthony Joshua Gives Fortunes Predictions about Zhilei Zhang vs Agit Kabayel Fight After Sharing The Ring With Both

Anthony Joshua has cast his mind over Zhilei Zhang’s fight with Agit Kabayel knowing that facing the winner is a real possibility.

Joshua remains a big deal in the heavyweight division and he has often been called out by Zhang. The stars have never aligned for them to fight in the pro ranks, although the Brit beat the Chinese southpaw at the London 2012 Olympics

‘AJ’ is currently on the sidelines after being knocked out by Daniel Dubois in September last year, thereby failing so far in his mission to become a three-time world champion.

Zhang’s fortunes have been different in the last couple of years. He has twice stopped Brit Joe Joyce and also knocked out American puncher Deontay Wilder to bounce back from a points loss to Joseph Parker. He now goes into this fight with Kabayel for the WBC Interim Heavyweight title.

Kabayel – who has sparred many rounds with Joshua – is an impressive unbeaten heavyweight, who stopped Frank Sanchez and Arslanbek Makhmudov in his two most recent bouts.

Speaking to Turki Alalshikh, Joshua revealed who he thought would win and went with ‘Big Bang’ Zhang.

The winner of this fight on February 22 in Saudi Arabia will have a fine array of options including challenging Oleksandr Usyk, the holder of the full WBC title, but also that big money fight with Joshua, who is still rated number 6 with the WBC despite never having held its belt.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has listed either Zhang or Kabayel, depending on their fortunes this weekend, as potential opponents for his charge, that is if he can’t land a title shot against the winner of Dubois vs Parker further up the card

Danny Jacobs Lost To Canelo At 160 And Sums Up Crawford’s Chances Of Beating Him At 168 In 4 Words

If there’s one man that knows a thing or two about going head-to-head with Canelo Alvarez, it’s two-time world middleweight champion Danny Jacobs.

The 38-year-old from New York faced Canelo in a world middleweight championship unification bout back in May 2019, putting his IBF crown on the line against the Mexican superstar who held the WBC and WBA titles at 160lbs.

Danny Jacobs put on a good performance to take Canelo all the way, but ultimately could not piece together enough of a game plan to stop the Mexican star in his tracks. After 12-rounds, Canelo claimed a unanimous decision victory to dethrone ‘The Miracle Man’ of his IBF strap, unifying three of the four middleweight titles.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Jacobs was asked to share his thoughts on what he believes will happen when Canelo clashes with Terence Crawford at super-middleweight later this year, saying that sometimes ‘skills pay the bills’.

READ MORE : Manny Pacquiao Sends 5 Word Warning To Terence Crawford On Facing Canelo….

“Sometime skills pay the bills and we know for sure that Crawford has the skills over Canelo. It’s just sometimes power, weight and experience may have a factor in that. So it will be a good test for Crawford. I’m a fan, the fans are the winner with that fight.”

‘Bud’ is faced with a monumental challenge when he steps up two weight divisions to fight Canelo in September, although the opportunity to become a five weight world champion and a three-weight undisputed champion will give the American all of the motivation he needs to pursue the victory.
