“I want to finish him off.” Dubois expressed his desire for a rematch with Usyk

IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has expressed his desire for a rematch against WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Quote: “We’ve got unfinished business. I want to get it right. I want to do it properly and finish him off. It would be a great unification fight. It would be massive,” Dubois told Box Nation.

Reminder: In August 2023, Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Dubois in the 9th round.

Dubois is eligible for a voluntary title defense until April 22. He can choose any opponent from the top 15 of the federation’s rankings for his next bout.

Among the most likely contenders is his former opponent, Anthony Joshua, who currently ranks eighth in the standings.

Incidentally, Turki Alalshikh recently announced the date for the Dubois-Joshua rematch.

“This Is How You Get Hurt” Deontay Wilder Didn’t Hesitate To Name Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul Winner.

Mike Tyson is set to return to professional boxing for the first time in nearly twenty years when he takes on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The former heavyweight champion, who is now 58-years-old, had to postpone the original fight date due to an ulcer flare-up, but says he is now in great shape and vows to end Paul’s boxing career.

Many fighters have raised concerns about ‘Iron’ Mike taking on a man over thirty years his junior. One of those doubters is former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder. When asked about the contest, Wilder shared his worries for Tyson and gave him little chance of getting the victory

“I think it’s bad the commission has licensed Mike Tyson because he hasn’t been active in 20 years, so they should not just licence him because of who he is, that’s how people get hurt, god forbid he gets hurt. People can get hit in the wrong place and at the wrong time, there’s lots of examples where guys have been hit into a coma. It’s easy to do. He’s too old for this.

At the end of the day, no one gives a f*** about Mike. We can talk about the pros and cons, but at the end of the day, they don’t give a f***. I don’t think anyone cares about Mike because if they did they wouldn’t sanction the fight.

They may say they’ve done tests and all that, ok, but as long as you’re willing to suffer the consequences if something bad goes wrong. His power may not have left completely but you still need to set it up, your stamina needs to be a certain way, or it’s going to look like a clown show.”

Paul vs Tyson takes place on November 15 at the AT&T stadium in Texas and will be streamed live on Netflix as part of a standard subscription.

‘No. 1 priority’ – Eddie Hearn : Anthony Joshua v Deontay Wilder a ‘fascinating fight now’, but Daniel Dubois rematch ‘No. 1 priority’ – Eddie Hearn

Promoter Eddie Hearn has dismissed any potential fight between Anthony Joshua and either of Joseph Parker or Dillian Whyte. ‘AJ’ is on the lookout for his next challenge after being stopped by Daniel Dubois at the weekend. The London 2012 gold medal winner has talked up a potential rematch with his fellow Brit, and Hearn says that taking on Dubois again is his “No. 1 priority.”

Eddie Hearn insists Anthony Joshua’s “No. 1 priority” is a rematch with Daniel Dubois, despite the possibility of a high-profile clash with Deontay Wilder or Joe Joyce.
The 2012 Olympic gold medal winner suffered a fifth-round knockout when he faced Dubois in front of a record crowd at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.
It was the fourth defeat of Joshua’s career, and has some questioning how long he has left in the sport.
The two-time heavyweight champion of the world has been linked with a number of potential opponents.
Promoter Hearn, who heads up Matchroom, has ruled out contests with Joseph Parker and Moses Itauma, while stating bouts with Joe Joyce and Dillian Whyte are “unlikely.”
And Hearn says that is because Joshua only has one thing on his mind.
“I said to him yesterday, who knows, you’ve got between maybe one and three fights left,” he told Boxing News.
“The phone went a bit quiet when I said that to him, but that’s the realisation of where we’re at in his career. It will just be the biggest fights possible.
“I don’t rule out [Deontay] Wilder or [Joe] Joyce, but I think AJ’s going to want the biggest. He’s a fighter. His No. 1 priority is to rematch Daniel Dubois.”
The American, now 38-years-old, has lost four of his 48 career fights. Each of those defeats have come in his last five bouts, though, including twice to Tyson Fury.
Wilder also suffered a fifth round stoppage against Zhilei Zhang in June, but a clash with Joshua interests Hearn.
“That’s a fight that, prior to Saturday, I thought would never happen,” he added. “But I certainly think it’s a fascinating fight now, and one that people would definitely tune in to.”

Terence Crawford Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If He Is Now Interested In A Jaron Ennis Fight

Terence Crawford has a long line of contenders looking for a fight, not least Jaron Ennis.

The 27-year-old from Philadelphia became welterweight world champion after Crawford vacated the belts and moved up a division. Still intent on the challenge, ‘Boots’ Ennis has said he is willing to join him at super-welterweight

In a feature with The Ring Magazine, Crawford didn’t blame the younger man for calling him out, but said he gained nothing from answering.

“They’re doing the right thing calling me out. I definitely get it. But I had to work so hard to get the [big] fights I got. They ain’t done half of what I did to get to me. You want me to backtrack and forget the biggest fight in boxing – me and Canelo – to fight Boots or Vergil? What am I gaining from that?”

The four-weight world champion then compared the current Ennis situation to when he wanted to face Manny Pacquiao.

“This is like when I wanted to fight Pacquiao. I had everything to gain. I’d won multiple world titles by then and been Fighter of the Year. My record was night and day different when compared with Boots and Vergil and me and Pacquiao.

“Pacquiao was at the age where he couldn’t afford to take another loss, so fighting a guy like Terence Crawford at that point of his career wasn’t smart. I couldn’t get a Pacquiao fight even though I had multiple accomplishments, but everybody else could. I was bitter at the time, but it was a business decision. I understand now.”

Terence Crawford seems to be waiting it out for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to respond to an offer before deciding what his next move will be. As for ‘Boots’, he defends his IBF belt against Karen Chukhadzhian – the man he beat for the interim belt last year – on November 9.

Derek Chisora Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Anthony Joshua Should Go Straight Into Dubois Rematch

Daniel Dubois shocked the world when he stopped Anthony Joshua to retain his IBF heavyweight title.

Although the champion going into the contest, ‘DDD’ was a heavy underdog before the first bell rang. But the 27-year-old dominated the action from the get-go and landed an thunderous right hand with seconds remaining of the first round to send AJ to the canvas.

Anthony Joshua got back to his feet but never fully recovered and was knocked down a further two times before Dubois landed the final right hand in the fifth to close the show.

Attention now turns to what Joshua will do next with fans and pundits debating whether the former two-time champion should go straight into a rematch with his fellow Brit.

One man who is sure what AJ should do is veteran heavyweight Derek Chisora.

Chisora told ‘The Stomping Ground‘ that Joshua should jump straight into the rematch,

“Mate he should jump on the rematch straight away, why not?

Listen, shout out to Daniel Dubois the new champion and the new crowned king of the United Kingdom but he [AJ] should jump on it bro, what else is he going to do, who else is he going to fight? Deontay Wilder? And then another person, and then go back and face Daniel Dubois, no, he should go back to the rematch.

Although there doesn’t appear to be a contractual rematch clause, Joshua has one more fight on his Riyadh Season deal and both Turki Alalshikh and Dubois himself are keen to make it happen again.

The Rematch between IBF world heavyweight, Joshua vs. Dubois’s rematch date confirmed

The rematch between IBF world heavyweight boxing champion Daniel Dubois and former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua appears closer, with Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, revealing February as a tentative date, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Alalshikh confirmed this while speaking after the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol press conference on Saturday night.

The chairman of the General Entertainment Authority that stages the Riyadh Season events revealed that a major fight card was being put together that will pit rival promoters Queensberry and Matchroom against each other.

“See in February again Queensberry against Matchroom, 5 vs. 5, we will finish it maybe this week with a big surprise, and then let’s see the result about this fight, the result of the big fight December 21, [Oleksandr] Usyk-Tyson [Fury],” Alalshikh told Sky Sports.

“Joshua, Dubois, Tyson, Usyk, everyone, everyone on the line.

“This is what we want. We want the big fights and to see who’s really the best fighter in each division.”

Last month, Joshua’s bid to become a three-time world champion and return to the division’s top table ended dramatically and unexpectedly, with Dubois dropping him several times at Wembley Stadium in front of 98,000 fans before he landed the final blow, a crunching right-hand, in Round 5 that left Joshua sprawling on the canvas for a fourth career loss.

The defeat sent shockwaves through the boxing world, with some pundits questioning Joshua’s future in the sport.

Reacting to talks about his future, Joshua vowed to continue boxing, with his promoter confirming that the Middle Eastern kingdom will stage the rematch as part of the Riyadh Season, a festival of entertainment and sports events that runs from October to early March.

Queen’s Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, welcomed the prospect of a rematch.

“It’s all about styles, but also with AJ, you’ve got to put him on the back foot, and that’s what he did,” Warren told Sky Sports.

“He put him on the back foot. That first jab he threw snapped his head back, and that set the pattern of the fight. I think it was the fourth round; he caught Daniel with an uppercut; that was his most significant punch.

“But  you want AJ to trade with you, because if he trades, he’s vulnerable. Once he throws that punch, you can catch him on the counter, and that’s what he did.”

Daniel Dubois

Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, when previously discussing the rematch between the two heavyweights said, “I think it would be part of Riyadh Season in Riyadh. Riyadh Season runs from October to the end of February and early March.

“So anything within that period takes place in Riyadh. So yeah, it would be part of the Riyadh Season if it were to happen.”

Tyson Fury Trainer Andy Lee Has Now Revealed His Honest Usyk Scorecard After Rewatching Fight

Tyson Fury suffered his first career defeat back in May when he was outpointed by Oleksandr Usyk.

The two battled it out for the undisputed heavyweight crown and it was the Ukrainian who left the ring with the belts via a split decision on the scorecards.

Tyson Fury believes he won the fight and should have had his hand raised, claiming he only gave Usyk three rounds, one of which was a 10-8.

Andy Lee, who is a part of Fury’s training team and was in the corner that night has told IFLTV that the fight was close having rewatched it for the first time

And when told by Gareth A Davies for talkSPORT boxing that he had scored it 115-113 to Usyk, Lee agreed with that assessment, but said he thought it could have been a draw.

“[I saw it] somewhere along those lines, similar, Tyson cruising up to round nine, then he takes that punch, shows unbelievable courage and bravery to get through it and then sees out the next few rounds then almost wins the last round or two, so it was close.

I thought it could have been a draw but no arguments with Usyk getting the decision.”

Lee went on reveal the impact on Fury’s conditioning having not sparred during camp due to fears that the cut that delayed the original fight date would reopen.

Fights are won and lost in the ring but they are also won and lost in the training and preparation and because of the rearrangement due to the cut then Tyson couldn’t spar, it takes that conditioning and sharpness away and that ability to concentrate and stay ready and sustain attacks. When Tyson had success he had to ease off and back away and look to rest and rebuild his energy, and it encouraged Usyk to come forward.

How does he win it? He’ll be better conditioned, he’ll be fitter and he’ll be sharper and he’ll be able to sustain his attacks. Tyson can improve a lot from the first fight.”

‘No, No, No!” Tyson Fury Has Now Completely Ruled Out Ever Facing One Heavyweight

Tyson Fury has admitted there is one man he will never face in the heavyweight ring

There have been heavyweights before who have refused to face one another, most recently the Klitschko brothers Vitali and Wladimir.

Both were world champions who ruled over the division but they always said that out of their respect for their mother, they would not do battle in the squared circle.

Former world champion Fury, who is currently in camp for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in December, has also said in the past that he would never face his gym mate Joseph Parker because they are too close outside of the ring.

Now, speaking to TNT Sports, he has ruled out ever competing with one other fellow banner division talent, and that is young Moses Itauma.

“No, definitely not! Do you think I’m stupid? No, no no…”

Fury used southpaw Itauma for sparring for his first fight with Usyk back in May and at the time he lavished him with praise, even going so far as to say on an Instagram post at the time that he ‘is the future of the heavyweight division.’

Itauma has long stated his desire to beat Mike Tyson’s record and become the youngest-ever world champion. He has roughly a year left to achieve that and has made quick progress in the pro ranks beating 10 men so far, 8 of them by stoppage, including Mariusz Wach most recently in July.

He has also racked up plenty of quick knockouts, much like Tyson, including stopping Ramon Ibarra in his second professional fight inside the first 35 seconds.

“No Disrespect” Daniel Dubois Has Now Made His Mind Up On Rematching Anthony Joshua Next

Daniel Dubois put in the performance of his career against Anthony Joshua last month, legitimising his status as world heavyweight champion

‘DDD’ was far too much for Joshua on fight night, dropping him three times before an emphatic knockout in the fifth. The win marked his first defence of the IBF belt. Talk has now turned to his next move and whether or not he will indulge ‘AJ’ in an immediate rematch

Speaking to Seconds Out, Dubois – echoing recent words from his promoter Frank Warren that the second fight is ‘a no brainer’ – said that if Joshua wants it it will happen

“The future is now what’s next? We’re making plans for what we’re gonna do now. I’ve heard AJ wants the rematch. We’ll see. If he wants it, I want it too. We came out on top on the night. I was the better man on the night but there’s no disrespect. I’m not gonna badmouth him or anything, it was a great fight and if we can do it again it’ll be even bigger.

Asked what the ultimate goal was, the 27-year-old said he wants to collect all the heavyweight titles. As the other three major belts are tied up in the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, he feels another fight with Joshua is a good move

“I’d love to become undisputed champion, collect all the belts and do it that way. Really reach the top of my game. I feel like I need to keep fighting the best. I fought the last three guys, some of the best in the world, so I need to keep that run going. I feel like the AJ rematch is a positive step. Just the way the fight was. It was exciting, everything the fans wanted to see. I’d be even better, even more up for it if we did it again.”

As for what he might do differently, Dubois believes he will be even more sharp and focused – a tough task after that career-best performance.

“Without giving too much away, I think I’d be more up for it. More belief in myself. I was up for it, but more controlled, more speed. Everything. AJ as well, he’ll bring it and come to win like he did last time but I just feel like it’s my time. Being a world champion, having the IBF belt, it’s just the icing on the cake. I need to keep this run going.”

Daniel Dubois

Warren has confirmed Dubois will return to the ring in February of next year. A decision on the rematch, which now looks like it solely lies on Joshua’s team, could be made as early as this week.

Could the heavyweight championship rematch be February ‘surprise’? Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois

Some of boxing’s biggest names could feature in a “big surprise” early in 2025, with a potential rematch between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois being considered for February of next year.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, which stages the Riyadh Season events, revealed that a major fight card is being put together that will pit rival promoters Queensberry and Matchroom against each other.

In June Queensberry beat Matchroom in a ‘5 vs 5’ team match. A second version of that event is being worked on for February which could see Daniel Dubois rematch Anthony Joshua.

Speaking after the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol press conference, Alalshikh told Sky Sports: “See in February again Queensberry against Matchroom, 5 vs 5, we will finish it maybe this week with a big surprise and then let’s see the result about this fight, the result of the big fight December 21, [Oleksandr] Usyk-Tyson [Fury].

“Joshua, Dubois, Tyson, Usyk, everyone, everyone on the line.

“This is what we want. We want the big fights and to see who’s really the best fighters in each division.”

Last month Dubois, the holder of the IBF heavyweight world title, blasted Joshua, a former two-time unified world champion, down to a stoppage defeat inside five rounds at Wembley.

Queensberry’s Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, welcomed the prospect of a rematch.

“It’s all about styles but also with AJ, you’ve got to put him on the back foot and that’s what he did,” Warren told Sky Sports.

Anthony joshua

Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, previously told Sky Sports: “I know that he is leaning towards the rematch because he wants to win the world heavyweight title.

“Fighting [Deontay] Wilder, [or] waiting for Fury, and then you’ve got all next year bubbling around not really fighting for the world heavyweight title.

“If it’s solely down to AJ, which it will be at the end of the day, I think it’s going to be very hard to talk him out of taking the rematch.”
