Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) is returning to the ring after a yearlong hiatus to face WBA super welterweight titleholder Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) on August 3, 2023. ‘Bud’ who was last seen dishing out a sensational TKO victory against Errol Spence Jr . (28-1, 22 KOs) in 2023, has long been eyeing a fight against pound-for-pound fighter, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs). With fans expecting a potentially gargantuan clash between the titans, trainer Robert Garcia believes that Crawford will prove to be a tough opponent for Alvarez.

Garcia was talking to K.O. Artist Sports. In conversation, he opened up about the possibility of Crawford jumping weight classes to fight Alvarez at Super Middleweight. “I think it is a big fight because Crawford is huge pound-for-pound number 1 or number 2 or 3 for a lot of people, and he does have skills,” he said.

Garcia further mentioned that if Crawford emerges victorious in his upcoming fight against Madrimov, it will undoubtedly bring in big numbers for a potential Alvarez fight. “It’ll be a fight that does really good numbers. I think it’s a fight that will sell. Crawford will put up some good rounds. I think that Canelo is the bigger guy and more experienced, and I think in the later rounds, he’ll catch him and maybe stop him. But Crawford will put up a good fight. I know that for a fact,” he added.

Madrimov, on the other hand, seems to be laser-focused only on his upcoming fight against Crawford. Talking to BoxingScene, he revealed why Crawford will have a hard time dominating him in his division. “He’s a great fighter. All around, he has every tool, but I feel like this is my division,” he said.

He further mentioned that he fought at a higher weight class as an amateur and added that every fight he had after turning pro at 154 has been a major one. “What everyone’s saying about experience, my 11 fights in the pros is not the same as everyone else. This is my division. He’s moving up. I know he has all the skills, but it’s my division, and it’s my time,” he said.

Boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. is known for his love for cars. His garage is full of opulent automobiles, and now he has added one more to that. However, it is not for himself, he has gifted it to his mother. Interestingly, many fans might not know that the Mayweather family has a tradition for the 4th of July. The family has been carrying out a practice of giving gifts on American Independence Day.

Billed as ‘The Money Fight’, it was one of the most lucrative fights in the history of the sport.

Although ‘Money’ has retired from professional boxing, he is often seen inside the ring for exhibition fights. Mayweather might not be an active name in the current boxing scene, but he makes sure to make headlines with his life outside the ring. Apart from the car he gifted his mother, there are a few more cars that he recently added to his garage.

Breakups are hard. Especially after a 27-year-long partnership like the one Nike and Tiger Woods shared. While Tiger Woods has been suffering with an increasing level of criticism on his newly-launched brand Sun Day Red, the journey has not been easy for Nike either.

The multi-billion athleisure enterprise recorded the steepest one-day percentage decrease in its share prices since 1980, shortly after its quarterly earnings and future outlook were announced. A major fall of 20% was seen in its share price costing the sports market giant a hefty sum of almost $28 billion of shareholder value.

This major setback was not exclusive to the already intense spot that Nike had found itself in, a while back. Nike has been focusing on a $2 billion cost-cutting campaign in light of consumers’ complaints of an increase in prices and a shocking update of an expected 4–6% decline in sales in the forthcoming fiscal year.

Addressing the brand’s current tricky situation, UBS analyst Jay Sole wrote, “Our key conclusion is there will be no quick rebound for Nike’s earnings. We believe Nike is embarking on what will be a multiyear reset of its business.”

The recent consumer behavior adds to the concerns of a multiyear reset of its business following share price downfall and internal struggles. With Nike’s underperformance and expensive lines, consumers are moving towards other brands like Hoka, On, and New Balance. This has forced Nike to take drastic measures to attack “opportunities across price points” and launch a less-expensive shoe line, likely under $100.

But what is the situation on the other side of this breakup story? Why is Tiger Woods’s SDR facing rampant criticism?

The problem with Tiger Woods’s post-breakup brainchild Sun Day Red

Not all is merry on Woods’s SDR’s end either. Having faced multiple rounds of criticism due to its expensive prices, disappointing quality, and seemingly complex logo, the newly launched brand seems to have failed in delivering its promise of providing more than a shift, infusing its consumer with a winner mindset, so far.

Tiger Woods 'better' in latest Masters prep as rave reviews continue

The brand claims that “Every seam, every stitch, every fold of SUN DAY RED, is sewn with the meticulousness, care, and unwavering focus that has defined Tiger Woods’ legendary career. When you wear these clothes, you wear the confidence to compete, both on and off the course. You carry the legacy of a champion. You become part of the SUN DAY RED story.”

Despite its promises, fans continuously criticize every move the newly born brand takes. Its recent launch of the Camo Collection was no exception. Against the brand’s tagline for this innovative take on activewear that works on and off the course and serves as “a symbol of excellence, commitment, and determination,” the all-new Sun Day Red Camo Collection has been deemed by fans as “overpriced and cheap material.”

With fans’ opinions increasingly going against its goals, Tiger Woods and Nike both find themselves on a sinking boat, in dire need of redemption. While Nike’s struggles remain majorly financial, Woods’s battle remains hidden in a more qualitative assessment.

All of the highlights Terence Crawford has provided while building his 40-0 record and standing as one of the sport’s top pound-for-pound fighters are fresh in the memory bank.

His sudden reaction to learning he was down on the ESPN scorecard and then knocking out Shawn Porter. His battering of Errol Spence Jr. to become undisputed welterweight champion one year ago. And so many more to come…

But Crawford is 36 now, coming off a year-long layoff, moving up in weight and now meeting an unbeaten World Boxing Association junior-middleweight champion in Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov who’s saying, “This is my division.”

Tim Bradley Names The Only Current Fighter That's Achieved More In Boxing Than Terence Crawford - Seconds Out

“Crawford just constantly looks unbeatable. There’s so many layers to his style and in each (southpaw and orthodox) stance,” ProBox TV’s Paulie Malignaggi said as the cast broke down the Aug. 3 matchup between Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) and 29-year-old Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) on Wednesday’s episode of “Deep Waters.” “He’s amazing in all aspects. That’s why he’s the best fighter in the world right now.

“But at the age he’s fighting, you’ve got to go one fight to the next. It happens at this age, and you wonder. Crawford could step in the ring and maybe it’s not the same Crawford.”

While Malignaggi clarified that until any slippage is seen, the expectation is that it will be the same ol’ Crawford.

“But the reason I bring that up is because Madrimov is no slouch. He’s a guy who can make you look bad.”

Madrimov-Crawford tops the Riyadh Season-promoted stacked card coming to the LAFC soccer stadium in Los Angeles. Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz defends his 140-pound belt in the co-main, former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. meets veteran Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, and gifted contenders Jared Anderson, David Morrell and Andy Cruz are also on the card.

Crawford’s main event “is a big threat … (Madrimov) is physically strong, super athletic, very confident saying, ‘This is my weight class.’ He’s a guy who wants to defend what he’s got.”

Madrimov appeared on the show, telling BoxingScene of the story in his Indio, Calif., gym of how he helped train light-heavyweight Dmitrii Bivol for his 2022 upset of Canelo Alvarez.

With Crawford seeking an Alvarez fight in victory, Madrimov said he’s taken heart that he can change boxing’s storyline, as well.

“Gym culture is really important. It seems Madrimov is in over his head, but it seems he has the right answers and the right culture to be prepared for the moment, to be prepared and bring the best version of himself,” former 140-pound champion Chris Algieri said on “Deep Waters.”

“He’s very much a threat to even the great Terence Crawford.”

Hall of Fame former two-division champion Timothy Bradley Jr. formerly trained with Madrimov trainer Joel Diaz down the road in Indio, where Crawford first entered and mightily impressed before becoming a lightweight champion.

Knowing Crawford well, Bradley said Madrimov’s best chance is to “land on Crawford early,” at a time when the three-division champion usually reserves to download information from his opponent.

“I wonder with Crawford if he gets touched, how he’s going to react,” Bradley said. “You have to be explosive and athletic to deal with Crawford. The thing with Madrimov is he gets reckless. You can’t get reckless against Terence Crawford.”

Will Crawford be looking past Madrimov to the Canelo showdown that Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh has suggested?

“Not at all,” Algieri said. “He understands what’s in front of him and he understands he’s at the tail end of his career. He’s a dead-focused guy who lives in the gym.

In November 2022, 44-year-old Ricky Hatton returned to the ring to face 48-year-old and former three-division champion, Marco Antonio Barrera, in an exhibition. At that time, Hatton possessed the desire to rematch Floyd Mayweather too. However, the British boxer has now completely changed his tune.

Mayweather and Hatton shared the ring in 2007 with the WBC Welterweight title on the line. Having outperformed Hatton, Floyd finally knocked the British boxer out in the 10th round. However, ahead of the exhibition against Barrera, when asked about a potential fight against Mayweather, Hatton declared, “To share the ring with Floyd again would be a dream.” But at present, Ricky feels otherwise.

Mayweather Knocks Out Hatton in the 10th Round - The New York Times

I don’t know if an exhibition would work between me and Floyd. I don’t know if there’s too much under the table and too much bad blood,” said Hatton. “I was p*ssed off at the referee in our fight, I thought he was s**t. I’m not saying I would have beaten Floyd anyway because it’s Floyd Mayweather,” he continued.

But there was an understanding between me and Marco that this was an exhibition. Marco is a respectful person and so am l. But I don’t think here would be that ‘wink, wink, nudge nudge’ between me and Floyd,” Hall of Famer Hatton concluded. In this connection, let us critically revisit the fight between Floyd and Hatton.

A critical analysis of Floyd Mayweather knocking out Ricky Hatton

Ricky Hatton was a little too desperate when he fought Floyd Mayweather in 2007. In his attempt to be the aggressor, he continued running into Mayweather’s punches, ultimately getting himself knocked out in the 10th round. Trying to close the distance impatiently, Hatton ended up in a square stance and exposed his chin to Mayweather. This allowed Mayweather to land his lead hook on Hatton’s head several times, angling out.

In the eighth round, the fight looked almost over as Mayweather, demonstrating vicious inside fighting, beat Hatton black and blue. However, Hatton, deficient in head movement and variety, kept returning for more with his head unprotected. In the 10th round, stepping back, Mayweather lured Hatton toward a corner. Of course, Mayweather expected Hatton, who was no equal to the former, to make a silly mistake.

And he did. As Hatton tried to push ‘Money’ against the ropes, the latter landed a check hook while moving to Ricky’s blind side. You could tell Mayweather had been setting up that check hook for some time. With that said, would you have liked an exhibition between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton? Being a boxer one requires a strong core to be able to land effective punches and react fast while in the ring. For the same reason, among other workouts, Floyd Mayweather would regularly condition his abs with the help of an ab-roller. Of late, a YouTuber popularly known as Barnation tried Mayweather’s workout with the ab roller to get unexpected results. However, it was not boxing that encouraged the YouTuber, it was rather a group of women!

As Barnation narrated the tale on YouTube, one day he went to the beach wearing a white vest. Of course, it was not a commendable choice as Barnation was not in his best shape. In his own words, Barnation looked like “Vin Diesel” in “Kevin Hart’s clothes.” However, to his surprise, a group of very attractive women approached him. But why?

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. | Biography & Facts | Britannica

The group of women who spotted Barnation seemed well-behaved and the YouTuber delighted in finding their company. However, little did he know, he was about to face disappointment. “So, long story short. This really pretty group of girls approached me and asked for directions to a restaurant. There’s nothing wrong with that,” said Barnation recalling the unfortunate incident. Soon the group of women left the YouTuber embarrassed out of the blue.

But, it’s the way they asked me for directions. They said, ‘Excuse me, Sir, you look like you know where there’s a good place to eat really really good food,” revealed Barnation hilariously! “I just looked down and that thing [the belly] was hanging,” he said with disappointment.

But, Barnation had to be sure. So he, despite feeling awkward, confronted those women and asked, “Why would you say that?” In their reply, they made matters worse by explicitly saying, “You know your stomach.” So, Barnation misguided the women and decided to work as hard as Floyd Mayweather did.

How Floyd Mayweather Became Boxing's First $1 Billion Fighter

Motivated to get back in shape, Barnation initially did “10 reps 10 times” i.e. he rolled his abs 100 times a day. However, after each rep, he would rest for a minute. But the journey was not easy! While it would be easy initially, after some time, his body would shake and he really had to push himself beyond his limits. “I felt like the food that I had the night before wanted to pop back out,” said Barnation, recalling the pain he survived. But, he did not give up.

From the 16th day onward, Barnation started to feel strong and he could feel that he was getting back in shape. Soon, he could roll his abs 200 times a day. At the end of four weeks, Barnation saw the result and was impressed. He was back in shape and wanted to return to the beach shirtless! So, he encouraged others who wish to get in shape too. “This is definitely beneficial, it really works,” he added. Let us know what you think of Barnation’s struggle in the comments below.

Gervonta Davis is known for posting and deleting messages to rivals on social media, but there’s always a record of what he has said.

The 29-year-old from Baltimore is undefeated in his professional campaign and has knocked out all but two men who stepped to him in the ring.

As one of the most watchable fighters in the sport, there’s a long queue to face him. He is happy to entertain these challengers, particularly in the ways of trash talk.

Baltimore boxer Gervonta Davis to go to trial Dec. 12 on hit-and-run charges after judge refuses to approve plea deal – Baltimore Sun

Davis is a part of a group of young US fighters thought to be most exciting of a generation – Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez.

Whilst he has beaten Garcia conclusively, it was Haney that was in the knockout artist’s sights late last year. He did not mince his words when warning the formerly undisputed lightweight champ.“I promise you. Your father gonna cry for what Imma do to you and that’s on my dead homie. Ya best bet is to enjoy it while you can.”

It’s a fight that has somewhat lost its steam, and likelihood, since ‘Tank’ sent the threat. Whilst he sticks around at lightweight and is coming off his first defence of the WBA title, Haney has won and relinquished a belt one division up at 140.

Still, Haney’s request to be WBC Champion in Recess at super-lightweight, which was granted, has freed him up from a mandatory challenger and will allow negotiations for big bouts, as he puts it, regardless of weight classes or belts.

There’s perhaps no more of a money-fight than ‘Tank’ Davis, but he is now in negotiations to face a former Haney opponent in Vasiliy Lomachenko. The Ukrainian brings the IBF belt to the table and the pair could fight it out for the two titles later this year.

One of boxing’s hottest prospects, Curmel Moton, will feature on Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal’s undercard this weekend.

On Wednesday night, the 18-year-old prospect, who fights under Floyd Mayweather’s promotional banner, was added to Saturday’s card as a late addition.

He will face Russian journeyman Nikolai Buzolin (9-8-1) in his fourth professional outing (3-0).

Even though Moton is still in the fledgling stages of his promising career, there is plenty of hype surrounding the teenager.

Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. (1977- ) •

Several media outlets have dubbed him ‘the next Floyd Mayweather’ while his mentor insists Moton is ‘destined to be great’.

Mayweather has consistently slotted Moton onto big undercards in order to get as many eyes on his young prospect as possible.

His debut, a first-round blowout of the then-undefeated Ezequiel Flores, took place on the Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo bill last September.

Meanwhile, his most recent outing against Anthony Cuba (7-1-2) – the only fight of his career so far to go the distance – was booked for the Tim Tszyu vs Sebastian Fundora show in March.

It is, therefore, no surprise that he has been added to the Diaz vs Masvidal showpiece event, which has garnered a lot of interest from both the boxing and MMA worlds.

Floyd Mayweather: The Picture of Patience and Composure | by Achievement Consulting | Medium

The pair are set to rematch in boxing, five years removed from their inaugural encounter at UFC 244.

That night, Masvidal got his hand raised after the fight was waved off in the third round due to a deep cut above Diaz’s eye.

Now, they are set to settle their score at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California in the main event of an eleven-fight card.

The co-main event sees former IBF middleweight world champion, Daniel Jacobs (37-4), take on Shane Mosley Jr (21-4) – the son of boxing Hall of Famer Shane Mosley – while Ryan Garcia’s brother Sean (7-0-1) is also in action against the undefeated Amado Vargas (10-0).

Elsewhere on the bill, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis (1-0) is set to make his second appearance in the paid ranks against Team Diaz’s Chris Avila (4-1) following his win over Roy Jones Jr.

After leaving Mayweather Promotions, Gervonta Davis publicly blasted Floyd Mayweather on several occasions. Besides believing he had surpassed Mayweather as far as achievements were concerned, Davis publicly branded ‘Money’ as a “fraud.” Later he even debarred Mayweather’s protege Curmel Moton from fighting on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin. Now, Moton clarified whether or not he had “beef” with ‘Tank’ Davis.

Gervonta Davis’ return to the ring against Frank Martin was greatly anticipated as the fight disposed of between 325,000 and 350,000 PPVs only in the United States. Therefore, a fight on the undercard of Davis vs. Martin would have guaranteed commendable exposure for the rising star, Moton.

However, while Mayweather and ‘Tank’ bantered, Moton praised ‘TBE’ via a tweet, giving the impression he was taking Floyd’s side against Davis. As a result, furious Davis dispensed with Moton’s fight on his undercard on June 15th.

Now ahead of Moton’s fight on the undercard of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal II, FightHype enquired the 18-year-old about his “beef” with Davis. “Yeah, I wouldn’t call it a beef. Him and Floyd had some beef going on and I had posted a tweet of me and Floyd. I guess it was bad timing to post it,” began Moton.

Tank felt it was directed towards him. So, you know he took it the way he took it. Things happen [and] that’s in the past. I’m not really worried about it,” answered Curmel Moton. At the same, while questions were raised about Mayweather Promotions following Leonard Ellerbe’s exit, Moton boasted of his association with ‘TBE.’

I got my team. I know Floyd got my back. And I got a real strong team I trust them. I’m going to get on these cards and put out great performances,” Moton added. In this context, Curmel mentioned how Floyd assured him of the opportunities he would receive.

Gervonta Davis confirms he will stay with Floyd Mayweather after Rolando Romero knockout win

It must have been a little disheartening for Curmel Moton to not have been able to perform on Gervonta Davis’ undercard at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. However, Moton assured his fans that “something else” was on its way. Little did people know at the time he would manage a space on the undercard of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal II at Honda Center, Anaheim. So, ahead of his fight against Nikolai Buzolin who is a stepping stone, Moton recalled Mayweather’s words of assurance.

What did Mayweather tell Moton when Davis dispensed with Moton? “He just told me ‘Don’t worry about it.’ There’s a whole bunch of other cards. So, I’m right back on this one,” the 18-year-old said. “So, there’s more and more opportunities coming,” he concluded with aspiration. With that said, what do you think of Curmel Moton not being bothered by Gervonta Davis? Let us know in the comments below.
