Manny Pacquiao Sends 5 Word Warning To Terence Crawford On Facing Canelo At Super Middleweight

Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has sent a stern message to Terence Crawford ahead of his mega-fight against Canelo Alvarez.

It was confirmed earlier this month that ‘Bud’ Crawford would be stepping up to challenge Canelo for the unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles in September, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska is tasked with stepping up two whole weight divisions to face the Mexican star, who has remained undefeated at 168lbs since he made the move up from middleweight in 2018, defeating the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Caleb Plant and Jermell Charlo.

‘Pac-Man’ is the latest ex-fighter to have his say on Crawford’s monumental challenge which will undoubtedly be the toughest of his impressive tenure.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Pacquiao delivered a strong message to the 37-year-old American ahead of the September showdown which is expected to take place in Las Vegas – ‘It’s not easy moving up’.

“Man, it’s not easy. It’s not easy moving up to bigger weight divisions.”

If there’s one man who knows all about moving up through the weight divisions, it’s Manny Pacquiao. The 46-year-old from the Philippines captured world titles across eight divisions throughout his glittering professional career which spanned just over 25-years. ‘Pac-Man’ began his career at flyweight, before going on to become a world champion in the 154lb division when he defeated Antonio Margarito to claim the WBC crown.

‘Bud’ Crawford’s most recent triumph came last August when he stepped up to light middleweight, dethroning WBA champion Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles. After already winning the undisputed championship at super lightweight and welterweight, the 37-year-old could end up challenging Canelo for the undisputed super middleweight championship when they clash in September, as long as the 34-year-old Mexican icon can overcome IBF champion William Scull when they face eachother on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“He’s Crazy” Oleksandr Usyk Has Changed His Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Prediction: “He’s Crazy”

Oleksandr Usyk has had a change of heart when it comes to Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford.

Two of the current pound-for-pound greats are set to go head-to-head when Canelo and Crawford collide in Las Vegas in September

‘Bud’ will be stepping up two weight divisions for the fight and will have the opportunity to become undisputed in a third division, provided that Canelo can first defeat IBF champion William Scull in May.

Another man that knows full well what it is like to be a pound-for-pound great and an undisputed champion is Usyk, having been the sole ruler of both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions at various points in his career.

The Ukrainian became undisputed cruiserweight champion with wins over the likes of Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev, before repeating the feat at heavyweight after defeating Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Usyk first discussed the Canelo vs Crawford match-up back in June, telling The 3 Knockdown Rule podcast that he would back the American to come out on top.

“I like Terence. He’s a crazy man.

“Terence win. Listen, Terence is different man. Terence works on two sides. Right and left, he’s very smart man. He feels distance and space.”

“Canelo big, yeah, good boxer, but I say, Terence. Terence can box him like a big guy.”

Now that the fight has been officially agreed, Usyk has changed his stance and no longer seems as confident, after he was asked by TNT Sports who he thinks wins the fight and called it a pick ’em

Usyk isn’t the only big name to change their mind when it comes to Canelo vs. Crawford, with boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya also making a new prediction on the bout.

I was KO’d by Terence Crawford but identified his lethal weapon which will see him beat Canelo Alvarez

Shawn Porter has felt the wrath of Terence Crawford but is backing his former foe to dethrone Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford is one of boxing’s most talented pound-for-pound fighters now, and his record at world level speaks for itself having won world titles in four weight classes.

Despite his achievements already, ‘Bud’ is set to step beyond the ropes for the biggest examination of his boxing credentials yet.

The American will face fellow modern-era great and boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez in a mega-fight in Las Vegas in September, with huge commercial interest in the event.

It could be a fitting end to a stellar career if he is able to beat the Mexican, but it will be an uphill battle.

Terence Crawford will be giving away size advantages as he prepares to step up to Alvarez’s weight class of 168lbs, a 14lbs increase.

Given the disparity, many boxing experts and pundits make Alvarez the favourite going into their intriguing clash of styles.

But Porter, a former rival of Crawford in 2021 who was brutally stopped in the tenth round of their clash, thinks differently.

The talented American is now a friend of Crawford and knows exactly first hand what it is like to be taken apart by the gifted champion.

In his defeat to Bivol, Alvarez struggled to jump up in weight and ultimately struggled against the natural weighted fighter in the Russian.

Crawford will hope not to face the same issues, but is already walking around well above the targeted 168lbs weight.

Terence Crawford

His fast hands and elite boxing IQ will be matched by Alvarez, with a chess-match like battle in the exchanges expected.

But Crawford himself believes his advantages lay in his patient ability to wear down opponents.

He said: “I’m the type of guy who likes to feel my fighters out and adjust to what they’re doing.

“I think that’s my greatest attribute, to be able to figure out every opponent I’ve faced thus far.

“I’m looking to do the same come fight time when the Canelo fight happens…

“People say, ‘You’re too small’ or ‘You’re outmatched’ or ‘You don’t belong in the ring with these types of fighters.’

“I’m going to feel great [at 168lbs]. I don’t need to worry about the weight. I know I’m going to feel great.

“I’ve got a lot of things to prepare on. That’s part of boxing – [meeting] milestones you’ve got to hit.”

Boxing fans can expect a war of attrition in Sin City, with the legacy-defining bout to be arguably 2025’s biggest.

“He Has All The Advantages” Tim Bradley Performs Big U-Turn On Canelo vs Terence Crawford Verdict

Retired world champion Timothy Bradley has made a significant u-turn on his initial prediction for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’ upcoming mega-fight against Terence Crawford.

The 41-year-old two-weight world champion already had his say on the showdown between two of boxing’s biggest names, which is due to take place in Las Vegas this September following weeks of negotiations

Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Bradley didn’t hesitate to predict a clear victory for ‘Bud’ Crawford, who is bidding to become a five-weight world champion.

“I woke up 3am and something told me to study Canelo and study Crawford. Crawford is about to beat the sh*t out of Canelo Alvarez. I’m letting you know right now. He’s about to beat the breaks off of Canelo Alvarez.”

However, just a few weeks after predicting such a comprehensive win for the 37-year-old, Bradley has now spoken out and revealed he has had a change of heart.

Speaking to FightHype.com, the 41-year-old admitted that it was a much closer contest than he first assessed, and that

“All the advantages favour Canelo. The weight advantage, he’s been at 168 for a while now, you know he was the undisputed champion but again, he’s the unified champion there and he’s beat some quality opponents. This is gonna be a hell of a challenge for Crawford. This won’t be easy. No. I know I like to clown. I think it’s definitely a winnable fight for him. I think anything is possible … If anybody’s gonna get the job done I think Crawford has that ability.”

Before he clashes with ‘Bud’ Crawford, the 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico is due to face IBF super middleweight champion William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, which gives him the opportunity to become a two-time undisputed champion at 168lbs, making the September showdown all the more interesting for both fighters.

“He Hasn’t Changed” GGG Trainer Abel Sanchez Makes Emphatic Prediction For Canelo vs Crawford: “He Hasn’t Changed”

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to lock horns in a mega-fight later this year.

After months of speculation between both fighters, it was revealed earlier this month that the pound-for-pound stars will finally meet in Las Vegas this September, with Canelo set to defend his unified super middleweight championship against the 37-year-old from Omaha

Canelo has recently signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, with the 1st of this huge deal set to take place on May 3 when he takes on IBF super middleweight champion William Scull in a bid to become the undisputed super middleweight champion once again.

One man who has had first hand experience in preparing a fighter to face the Mexican icon is Abel Sanchez, who coached Gennady Golovkin in two of his bouts against Canelo in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Speaking to KO Artist Sports, Sanchez gave ‘Bud’ Crawford little-to-no chance against Canelo, citing his considerable weight disadvantage as a major factor.

“It’s a ridiculous fight because, I said it a while ago, Crawford is a great fighter but he’s been the same fighter from 135 to 147, he’s still the same fighter, he hasn’t changed anything to make him viable at the bigger weights, but Canelo has.

Terence Crawford hasn’t been destroying his opponents, he destroyed one who was a shell of his former self, but Canelo is destroying everybody that he fights, destroying them, but Crawford’s not. Yes, it’s a good money fight but not a real fight.”

Of course, Crawford has moved up and won a world title at 154 pounds since the comments, however many felt the performance – a points win over Israil Madrimov – showed that the American may not carry his power up much further.

Victory over Scull in May would set up the highly-anticipated battle between two of boxing’s biggest names, with Crawford bidding to become a five-weight world champion one year on from his triumph over former WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov.

He does’nt has Any Chance: Jaron Ennis Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Terence Crawford Has Any Chance Of Beating Canelo At 168

Jaron Ennis long chased a fight with Terence Crawford but will now have to watch his rival take on Canelo Alvarez instead.

Ennis is a precocious talent and current IBF belt holder in the welterweight division. He came of age after Crawford became the undisputed champion at 147 by beating Errol Spence in July 2023. With ‘Bud’s last fight a world title victory at 154lbs over Israil Madrimov, it seems the 37-year-old has left the welterweight division behind for good

Crawford has long targeted a further to weight class jump to take on undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo and finally this past week that fight was locked in for September.

Speaking to YSM Sports Media, Ennis can’t pick a winner in the fight and gives Crawford as much chance as Canelo of getting his hand raised.

“It’s a good fight, a 50-50 fight, and I guess it’s a fight everybody wants to see.”

He was then asked about the challenge Crawford faces by jumping up in weight.

“It’s going to be a little difficult. He’s going to have to put on an extra 14lbs, so he could be slower. You’ve got to add more weight and gain more muscle so it’s harder but we’ll see on fight night.”

Next, he was asked what Crawford would need to do on the night to win having previously explained it would be a difficult night for ‘Bud.’

“Be smart, take his time, box and move. Don’t sit there and let him drop bombs on him.”

Finally, he offered up a game plan for Canelo’s route to victory.

“I feel like Canelo will be pressing, everything behind the stick, catch him trying to pull out, pull back, cut the ring off, things like that. He going to have to bully the smaller guy, don’t let him dictate nothing, show him that’s your weight class.”

Errol Spence Brutally Issues 5 Word Warning To Canelo Alvarez About Facing Terence Crawford

Errol Spence has experienced the quality of Terence Crawford first hand so knows what Canelo Alvarez can expect

Spence clashed with ‘Bud’ in July 2023 as they contested the first undisputed welterweight championship of the ‘four belt era’.

Despite a valiant effort from ‘The Truth’, the skills and explosiveness of Crawford proved to be too much, as he put on an incredible display to stop Spence in the ninth round and capture all four world titles at 147lbs in a historic moment for himself, and the sport.

With ‘Bud’ now gearing up to face unified super middleweight champion Canelo, his former opponent Spence has issued a firm warning to the Mexican superstar who is on the verge of becoming a two-time undisputed champion at 168lbs.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, ‘The Truth’ spoke of the upcoming mega-fight between Crawford and Canelo, as he backs his countryman to upset the odds and become a five-weight world champion, stating ‘if anyone can, Crawford can’.

“I’ll be going for ‘Bud’ if he fights Canelo, I’ll be going for him. I don’t know if he’s going to win or lose but I’ll definitely be going for Crawford. I think if anybody can pull it off he can pull it off.

He’s chasing greatness so why not. Canelo went up to 175 and fought Kovalev and fought the other guy [Bivol] too, so if he can do it, and he started at 147, so if he doing then why can’t ‘Bud’ do it.”

Canelo is pencilled in to face IBF super middleweight champion William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in what is the first of a four fight deal with Riyadh Season.

Victory over Scull would set up the huge showdown with ‘Bud’, which is expected to take place in Las Vegas this September.

“I Have A Favourite” Artur Beterbiev Gives Honest Verdict On Canelo vs Terence Crawford: “I Have A Favourite”

Undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev has given his thoughts on the upcoming mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

It was revealed recently that the pound-for-pound stars have finally agreed to face each other later this year, with Canelo set to make a defence of his WBA, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles, and potentially the IBF if he first defeats William Scull in May.

‘Bud’ Crawford will attempt to become a five-weight world champion against the 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico who has proven his dominance at 168lbs since capturing undisputed gold with a win over Caleb Plant four years ago.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Beterbiev gave an insight into what he believes Crawford’s chances are of prevailing against Canelo when they face each other. Though many feel that the weight jump could be too much for ‘Bud’, the Russian brands it a ’50/50 fight.’

“I’m not really a big fan of boxing, but this fight I will watch … I have a favourite from them, but we’ll see… It’s an interesting fight, 50/50 fight.”

Beterbiev has previously praised Crawford as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, so many will assume he is the favourite mentioned.

Crawford, who has been victorious in all 41 of his professional outings, became a four-weight world champion last August when he conquered WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov, albeit in a performance that didn’t seem to impress as much as his previous efforts.

It is no secret that facing Canelo will be the biggest test of the 37-year-old’s impressive career, which has saw him claim the undisputed championship at super lightweight as well as welterweight.

Canelo captured all four titles at super middleweight with that victory against Plant in 2021, going on to make four defences of his crown which included wins over Gennady Golovkin and Jermell Charlo.

He was stripped of his IBF belt last Summer after he chose to face Edgar Berlanga instead of William Scull, who was mandatory challenger to the IBF title at the time, but will have the chance to earn that belt back when he faces Scull in May ahead of the Crawford bout.

Terence Crawford

As for Beterbiev, he rematches a former Canelo foe in Dmitry Bivol later this month.

“He’ll Win” Roy Jones Jr Makes New Canelo vs Terence Crawford Prediction As Fight Agreed: “He’ll Win”

Terence Crawford looks to have landed a fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez after first mentioning it around 18 months ago.

Though initially dismissed by Alvarez, who holds three of the four major belts at super-middleweight, due to the American being naturally smaller and last competing two divisions down at super-welterweight.

Crawford persisted, however, and, with the backing of Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh, the fight looks set for September this year. It will see ‘Bud’ pack on a further 14 pounds should he want to come in at the 168 limit as he attempts to be the first man to beat Alvarez in that division.

Speaking to the Ring Magazine, multi-weight great Roy Jones Jr said that the outcome of the fight was in the Mexican’s hands and that, with the right gameplan, it goes in his favour.

“The weight won’t be the factor. The factor will be how Canelo chooses to make the fight. If Canelo comes out and does what Canelo should do, he wins the fight. If he comes out and does what he shouldn’t do, Crawford wins the fight.”

As for what that entails, Jones believes that if Alvarez lets Crawford control the centre, the American gets the victory and Canelo will be dealt just his third defeat in over 60 fights.

“If Crawford is allowed to control the centre of the ring, he’ll win.”

According to a member of Crawford’s team, the fight is set for September 13 in Las Vegas. While he is expected to sit on the sidelines until then, Canelo is readying an announcement for a May opponent.

“It S**ks”- Team Benavidez Sets the Record Straight on Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford

The potential showdown between Terence Crawford and Canelo Álvarez in September in Las Vegas has got the boxing fans hooked. The reason, you ask? It’s because of the contrasting styles, ring IQs, and different weight classes. As anticipation for the match grows, opinions on the potential winner remain divided. And now, Jose Benavidez, the older brother of the WBC Interim Light Heavyweight, David Benavidez, has added his voice to the conversation.

The 32-year-old once faced Terence Crawford in a brutal knockout loss for the WBO welterweight title in 2018. Having seen Bud Crawford up close, he knows exactly what the 41-0, 31 KO boxer brings to the table. However, Jose Benavidez seems to have more reasons for making his prediction. He recalled how his younger brother never got the opportunity to fight Canelo, preventing him from showcasing his skills. Now that a potential showdown between Terence Crawford and Canelo Álvarez is on the horizon, Jose has already chosen his side. What did he say? Let’s find out.

Jose Benavidez thinks Terence Crawford is a beast

Jose Benavidez was recently seen in a press conference for the David Morrell vs. David Benavidez fight. In an interview with Fight Hub TV, he was asked about how the fight would unfold. And Jose Benavidez didn’t hold back and confidently stated, “I mean, like I said, Crawford. Crawford’s a fu***ng beast. He’s smart. He knows what he’s doing.”

While talking about the opponent, he acknowledged that while Canelo is the naturally bigger fighter, size alone doesn’t determine the outcome of a fight. He added, “Canelo, you know, I mean, he’s not that big of a guy. Obviously, he weighs more. But I mean, you can’t take nothing from Crawford. He goes in there and wins.”

READ MORE You can’t KO him : Disagreeing With Jake Paul, Boxing Legend Warns Terence….

Meanwhile, he also expressed disappointment for his younger brother. “You know it s**ks that my brother didn’t get that opportunity. Only Canelo knows why that didn’t happen. And he’s gotta keep moving forward, you know,” he lamented. As the interim super middleweight champion, Benavidez was Canelo Álvarez’s mandatory challenger. However, Canelo reportedly demanded an extremely high price for the fight. With no progress, Benavidez moved up a division and defeated Oleksandr Gvozdyk to win the interim light heavyweight title.

Moving forward, when pressed further about Terence Crawford’s fighting intelligence, Jose didn’t mince words. “The thing with him is he’s just a smart motherf***er, you know,” Benavidez said. He also highlighted Crawford’s ability to switch between southpaw and orthodox stances, making him unpredictable and dangerous. He further added that many fighters who faced the Mexican champion seem intimidated before the fight even begins, but he believes Crawford won’t have that mindset. “So Crawford is going there to win, he’s not going in there to fu***ng lose,” he predicted.

Though Benavidez believes in Crawford’s abilities, other analysts and boxers hold different opinions.

Mexican boxing legend Julio César Chávez has recently placed his bets on Canelo. He predicted a knockout in six or seven rounds. While Chávez acknowledges Terence Crawford’s skills, he is adamant that the 13-pound weight difference between the fighters will prove insurmountable. “Crawford is a good fighter but there’s weight classes,” the three-weight world champion explained.

In contrast, others like Jake Paul and Oleksandr Usyk have thrown their support behind Terence Crawford. ‘The Problem Child,’ speaking on the Ring Champs podcast, argued that Crawford’s versatility will give him an edge. Furthermore, he thinks “that Terrence has the skill and is a bit fresher than Canelo. If I had to put my money on it, I would probably go with Terence.”

Terence Crawford

Oleksandr Usyk, on the other hand, echoed similar sentiments. On The 3 Knockdown Rule podcast, the undefeated heavyweight champion praised Bud Crawford. “I like Terrence; it’s …my friend, but it’s crazy man. Listen, I… I say Terence win yes, …Terence win, but listen, Terence, it’s different, man. Terence work in two… two sides—right and left, but it’s very smart, man. It’s very, very very smart, but feel, distance, and the place…,” Usyk stated.

With both fighters at the top of their game, the predictions remain split. What is certain is that this fight will be one for the ages. Can Terence Crawford defy the odds and become the first to defeat Canelo in his prime? Do share your thoughts below!
