Agreed ? Terence Crawford Sends 5 Word Warning To Canelo Alvarez As Fight Finally ‘Agreed’

Terence Crawford has spoken for the first time since it was reported that a fight against Canelo Alvarez was agreed

The clash between the two pound-for-pound greats was first discussed last year after Crawford defeated Israil Madrimov to win the WBA super-welterweight title in August.

Talks died down though due to Canelo’s reluctance to negotiate the bout prior to his September fight against Edgar Berlanga, which the Mexican won to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO super-middleweight titles.

With both men now seemingly rested and recharged following their latest bouts, the year began with fresh optimism that a fight could indeed take place later this year.

Crawford and Canelo both met with Saudi chief Turki Al-Alshikh over the weekend, with it now reported that a deal is in place for the mega fight to take place.

‘Bud’ has given his first reaction since the reports that the bout was agreed, taking to social media to share his confidence that he will be victorious.

“Ima shock the world watch!!! The best is yet to come. I had it in my back pocket this whole time.”

It would indeed be seen as an upset to many if Crawford is able to defeat Canelo, due to him needing to jump up a further two weight divisions from 154lbs to 168lbs.

Crawford has only competed once at super-welterweight after moving up from 147lbs. Prior to that he reigned as undisputed welterweight champion after defeating long-term rival Errol Spence Jr, and Spence has given his prediction for how the Canelo fight could go.

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford have held positive talks with Turki Alalshikh as they eye a huge mega-fight in 2025.

Canelo Alvarez and Crawford are two of the biggest pound-for-pound stars in the sport and are coming to the later stages of their stellar careers in the squared circle.

The Mexican is currently unified world champion at 168lbs [super-middleweight], and was first called out by ‘Bud’ after his victory over Edgar Berlanga last year.

Crawford is currently WBA champion at 154lbs [light-middleweight], but has made a vow to pile on 14lbs to make the huge showdown, which would likely be the biggest opportunity of his career.

Talks had not begun last week, with Crawford waiting patiently to see if Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh can lure Alvarez into a lucrative deal to secure the clash.

But the pair attended the Ring Magazine awards in London this weekend, and both held separate talks with the influential Alalshikh over a clash.

And a report from renowned ESPN Knockout journalist Julius Julianis has suggested the pair have already reached an agreement.

He claims that the pair are both set to meet in September in Las Vegas after the talks progressed quickly when overseen this weekend.

‘Anything is possible’- Canelo Alvarez sets record straight on Terence Crawford mega-fight

Canelo Alvarez has opened the door to a money-spinning showdown with Terrence Crawford.

The 34-year-old Mexican took his record to 62-2-2 by beating Edgar Berlanga via a unanimous decision in September.

David Benavidez’s name has been touted and William Scull says his team have been approached over a unification fight.

Canelo was stripped of the IBF title after refusing to take on Scull, who was his mandatory opponent.

But 37-year-old American Crawford is the fight fans want to see and Alvarez has finally broken his silence.

“There’s always a chance there,” he told Ring Magazine. “We’ll see, but there’s always a chance there. We’re here to make the best deals, and there’s always the chance.”

Crawford is 41-0 and has won world titles in four weight classes from lightweight to light middleweight.

As Alvarez suggested, it would take a large purse to tempt him into fighting the dangerous southpaw.

But fans may get their wish as Turki Alalshikh is desperate to see the bout happen.

“I want to see Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn, I want to see of course Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua,” he said on Froch On Fighting.

“I want to see Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, and I also want to see Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia the rematch.

“For Oleksandr Usyk he will wait for the card of February. He has said he wants to fight one or two fights more, and I would like to see the Dubois rematch.”

Crawford has been calling out Canelo since the Mexican’s win over Berlanga.

“Yo Turki, tell them we are going to go for Canelo next,” he said on an Instagram live video following Canelo’s dominant win over Berlanga.

The camera was then turned to Alalshikh, who replied: “Yes. Let’s go! Canelo, come on. We are ready.”

“Canelo-Crawford, the biggest fight in boxing. But we stay ready though.

“We stay ready, that way we ain’t got to get ready.”

Canelo and Crawford could potentially meet at a catchweight but the American has claimed he would move up to 168lbs to make the fight happen.

Demetrius Andrade says Terence Crawford could not beat Canelo Alvarez by moving up two divisions

The fight betweenSaul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford is still in the realm of total uncertainty, but that does not prevent the whole boxing world from continuing to give its opinion on it.

One of them is Demetrius Andrade, who recently spoke out on the matter, making a statement that, although not surprising, makes him look good with the narrative that the Mexican is almost unbeatable and that there is no one who can knock him down or make him lose on the scorecards.

According to Andrade, Canelo Alvarez would beat Terence Crawford at 168 pounds, and the Omaha, Nebraska native has been moving up in weight, going from 147 pounds to 154, where he was able to finish off Israil Madrimov. However, although Crawford wants to expose his undefeated record against the Mexican, he would have to move up two divisions, and there he would hit a wall.

In words shared with Fight Hub TV, Andrade said he loves Crawford very much, whom he considered “a good friend,” so he did not hesitate to give him some advice: “He saw me beat people up, I saw him beat people up. I think the stories could go on, but when it comes to weight, empowerment, that s… is real.

“Canelo is a fierce wolf and can run all night. I think Crawford has the skills, but when it comes to Saul taking punches and blocking his power punches, Canelo also knows how to move. He has agility. Not like a robot. I mean, it’s going to be tough (…) I don’t think Crawford can beat Canelo. But I still think he can give him a good fight. And I’ll be sitting there watching it,” he said.

Super Prediction: Canelo Alvarez Vs Terence Crawford: A Potential Super Fight In 2025

After all this time, the bout that every boxing fan worldwide has been waiting for has yet to take place. The internet was dominated on the final day of 2024 by multiple reports of a potential fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez. The news spread like wildfire despite the lack of specific details about the fight, and numerous prominent boxing-related media pages made similar claims.

In order to continue attracting the PPV buys that he did in his prime, superstar Canelo needs a well-known fighter that people want to watch when he returns to the ring in May to defend his three 168-pound titles. A fight between Canelo and WBA 154-pound champion Crawford is apparently of interest to Turki Al-Shiekh.

According to reports, Canelo had demanded $150 million for Crawford, which Turki might not be prepared to pay given Terence’s lack of track record as a PPV draw. Although the 37-year-old Crawford has only fought in one high-profile bout in his 16-year professional career, against Errol Spence in 2023, it’s a matchup that would be exciting to die-hard boxing fans who are familiar with him.

Tim Bradley, the commentator, claims that after studying Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez, he concluded that the Mexican star would be thoroughly outclassed if they square off in 2025. Bradley doesn’t explain why he thinks the smaller and weaker Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) can defeat Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs), the undisputed super middleweight champion. He believes he can.

Just 1 Word: Former Champion James Toney Sums Up Terence Crawford’s Chances Of Beating Canelo In Just 1 Word

Can Terence Crawford jump up a further two divisions and beat Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez? Former three-weight world champion James Toney has given his take.

Though Terence Crawford only recently made his debut at super-welterweight, he now wants to pack on a further 14 pounds to challenge Canelo, who has been ruling the roost at super-middleweight for years.

Both men are four-division world champions and considered two of the best fighters in the sport. However, many feel that, even despite Crawford’s elite skillset, the ask is too much here given the size difference.

Toney – who is no stranger to weight jumps having won world titles at middle, super-middle and cruiser as well as challenging at heavyweight – first told AB Boxing News that he didn’t see any contenders in Crawford’s current division handing him his first loss.

“Terence Crawford is an incredible fighter. It’s gonna be hard to beat him, anybody at 154.”

Asked specifically about moving up in weight to face Canelo, Toney said ‘Bud’ wins ‘easy’ before sneaking in a comparison to himself.

“Easy win [for Crawford]. Easy win. Trust me … Canelo is a good fighter, but he’s not on James Toney’s level.”

Canelo’s options for bouts in the super-middleweight ranks that attract serious attention are dwindling, particularly since David Benavidez has moved up to light-heavyweight. It’s for that reason that many in the sport feel that the Crawford fight, which he once all but dismissed, now looks likely

Terence Crawford

He has made it clear that he will begin looking at opponents in January, likely for a May return. With Crawford just returning from some niggling injuries, the timelines may sync up for a megafight.

Canelo Alvarez vs Crawford 2025: Terence Crawford and other possible opponents for May

Canelo Alvarez has established a tradition of having two fights a year: May and September, the latter on the weekend that celebrates Mexico’s Independence.

Since 2022, he has scheduled his fights in these two months and it is expected that he will do so again, so it is more intriguing who will be his next opponent.

Saul Alvarez could choose Terence Crawford as his next opponent

Due to the lack of interest in accepting the challenge of David Benavidez, the mandatory WBC 168-pound challenger, Terence Crawford (41-0) looks like a strong option for Saul Alvarez (62-2-2) and his first fight of the year.

Although it seems that the fight is more media than competitive, as Crawford fights at 154 pounds, the super welterweight, two categories below that of the Guadalajara native.

However, both Crawford and Sheikh Turki Alalshikh are trying to convince Alvarez to accept the fight, for which he was asking for $150 million.

More options for Canelo Alvarez

Given how unconvincing the fight against Terence Crawford could be in sporting terms and the evasiveness against Benavidez, today at 175 pounds, Saul Alvarez could have other interesting options to open 2025 in the ring.

Another name that has been mentioned for Canelo is Christian Mbili, a 29-year-old Frenchman with an undefeated 28-0 record, who in his last fight defeated Sergy Derevyanchenko in August and would be a contender for the World Boxing Council

A possibility that in September was already ruled out was William Scull (23-0), the IBF challenger, an organization that removed the undisputed tag from the Mexican for refusing to fight the Cuban and stripped him of his world title.

Boxing News is keen to propose a couple of natural super middleweight fighters. Diego Pacheco is one of them, who has a record of 22-0 and 18 knockouts. The 23-year-old would be a challenger for the WBC and WBO, although on January 25 he has his next fight against Steven Nelson (20-0) in Las Vegas.

The other option listed by the media is the Cuban Osleys Iglesias, who at 27 years of age has a record of 13-0 with 12 knockouts and is making his career with the International Boxing Organization.

While waiting for a date and opponent to be announced, Canelo Alvarez does not seem to have any other options, unless it were for a rematch with Jaime Munguia, but it looks difficult after his defeat to Bruno Surace, with whom he would go for the rematch. In the meantime, all information seems to be just rumors.

Just in: Errol Spence Sums Up Terence Crawford’s Power In 4 Words As He Continues To Chase Canelo Fight

Errol Spence saw his undefeated record come to an end at the hands of Terence Crawford.

The two fighters took part in one of the biggest fights in recent memory when they met at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas back in July 2023

Errol Spence headed into the fight as the WBA, WBC and IBF welterweight champion and with a record of 28-0, while Crawford held the WBO welterweight belt and had a record of 39-0.

It was seen as a 50-50 fight in the build-up, but it certainly didn’t transpire that way, with ‘Bud’ claiming a dominant ninth round stoppage victory to become undisputed and solidify his place as one of the pound-for-pound best in the world.

Having come out on the wrong end of the result, Spence revealed at the post-fight press conference just how hard his rival hit, needing just four words to sum it up.

“He’s a strong dude.”

Spence then explained just why he felt that Crawford was able to dominate so easily.

“I got a feel for his power probably like first, second round. You know, everybody at this top level have some type of power. But I think because my timing was off he was catching me in between shots.”

Spence is still yet to return to the ring since the defeat to Crawford, but has been linked with a move up to super-welterweight to take on WBO and WBC champion Sebastian Fundora.

As for Crawford, he is still craving a clash with unified super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, and one fighter who has sparred both men has given his prediction for the bout.

After mike tyson, Canelo Says He Is Willing To Fight Jake Paul Under One Condition

Jake Paul is adamant that he will face Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez and cause ‘the biggest upset in the history of boxing.

Four years ago the prospect would be laughable, to many it still is now. However, the brash 27-year-old has just come out the other side of eight rounds against Mike Tyson, 58, as main event of a record-breaking Netflix partnership.

Jake Paul – who coasted to a unanimous decision over Tyson in an underwhelming and often sad affair – had made it clear pre-fight that he would be calling out the four-weight world champion from Mexico.

In the ring after the face, he said Canelo ‘needs’ the fight.

“Canelo needs me, so I’m not even going to try and call him out. He knows he wants a payday. So, he knows where the money man is at… He’s going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the [stuff] I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is true and I’ll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing. We’ll fight to really see who is the face [of boxing] because, after this event, I’m going to be claiming it.”

Though Canelo has told Paul to ‘stay in his lane’ in the past and is very much still competing at the pinnacle of the sport, a clip from The Full Send podcast shows that he is open to the idea only when his top-level days come to an end.

“When I’m done with boxing [at the highest level], why not? Yeah, maybe. I think it’s good cause what happens is other people who never watch boxing, they don’t know anything about boxing, they want to watch Jake Paul because he brings fans from other world. Maybe [I’ll take the Paul fight].”

As it stands, Alvarez, 34, holds three of the four major super-middleweight titles and is still looking for big money fights against his peers. Ahead of Jake Paul on waiting list, at least in terms of a fan enjoyment perspective, are both David Benavidez and Terence Crawford.

Paul’s team remain convinced that the fight can happen in 2025. Promoter Eddie Hearn, who has worked with Canelo in numerous fights in the past, told the Ariel and Ade Show he believes it can happen.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Canelo took that fight because Canelo’s just about the money.

Terence Crawford

“It’s such an easy night for him, but I think Jake’s matchmaking is really smart, other than the Tommy Fury fight which they lost, they have never been in a fight where there was any danger at all really, other than the first 20 seconds against Mike Tyson.

“They obviously know, unless they are deluded beyond any imagination, that it all ends with Canelo Alvarez.

“Will they take that challenge? Maybe if the money is astronomical.”

Terence Crawford versus Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is a fight that very much excites fight fans despite the great difference in weight between the two elite-level world champions.

Once upon a time, the fight would have been easier to make: ‘Canelo’ picked up his first world title down at light middleweight, but has since moved up through the weights and won belts all the way up to light heavyweight. Right now he holds all four titles in the super middleweight division having recently defended them once more against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia.

Throwback to when Terence Crawford left the ‘next Floyd Mayweather’ on the canvas with ferocious uppercut

Omaha’s Crawford is the naturally smaller man who has been undisputed at both lightweight and welterweight. He has beaten the likes of Shawn Porter, Kell Brook and Amir Khan though his most impressive win came last time out against Errol Spence Jr.

That was in July last year and after that protracted period away from the ring he debuts up at 154 lbs in a world title fight with Israil Madrimov on August 3, perhaps in preparation for the further two weight class jump for the Canelo fight he’s been targeting for a year.

Former heavyweight champion and one time ‘Canelo’ gym mate Andy Ruiz Jr, previously advised ‘Bud’ to stay away from Canelo.

“I think Crawford could be the best in the world at those divisions but I think he should stay away from Canelo right now. Let Canelo do his thing. For sure I know that Crawford’s gonna be the face of boxing after Canelo does his thing.”

But Ruiz has now changed his opinion and in an interview with FightHubTV praised Crawford’s skillset and believes it’s ‘his time’.

I think that would be a good pay day for Crawford and he deserves, you know, it after all the things he has been though, especially with different promoters and all that. It’s his time.”

Ruiz has a huge fight himself on Crawford’s undercard in August when he takes on Jarrell Miller.

Meanwhile, ‘Canelo’ is working on his next fight date in September and has been linked with Chris Eubank Jr as well as Edgar Berlanga.
