Carl Froch Sums Up Chris Eubank Jr Slapping Conor Benn With An Egg In Just 4 Words

Carl Froch has shared his view on the Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn press conference egging incident.

Eubank Jr and Benn met this week in Manchester for the launch press conference of their long-awaited battle, which takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26

They were originally set to meet back in October 2022, before the fight fell through just days away from the event after Benn failed a drugs test.

Benn has claimed his innocence to this day, with one of the reasons stated for the possible failed test being the consumption of too many eggs. Eubank Jr clearly doesn’t agree with that assessment, and took it upon himself to smash an egg in Benn’s face during their face-off.

Former unified world champion Froch had many rivalries during his own career, the most notable being against George Groves, which culminated in a fight at Wembley Stadium where Froch knocked out Groves.

It means that ‘The Cobra’ knows first hand what it is like to have a bitter feud with an opponent, and he revealed on his Froch On Fighting YouTube channel how he’d have reacted if it had been him in Benn’s shoes.

“I’d have been fuming.”

Froch then explained the advice he may give Benn next time he sees him.

“He didn’t just get slapped round the face, he did it quite hard, he also got egged. When you get egged you’re fuming. I’d have been p**sed off. I’m going to give him advice. The first time with Groves I was fuming. You get in there and load up and make mistakes.

“You advertise your shots a little bit and make split second decisions where it’s wrong. You’ve got to be calmer. Boxing is all about discipline.

Eubank Jr and Benn are set to meet again at another press conference on Thursday, with added security expected to try and avoid a repeat of their face-off incident.

“It’s Happening”: Chris Eubank Jr Reveals Where Conor Benn Fight Will Take Place As He Announces “It’s Happening”

Chris Eubank Jr has revealed that his much anticipated grudge match against Conor Benn will finally happen in 2025.

The two were meant to continue on their family rivalry back in October 2022, but just days before the fight news broke that Benn had failed two VADA tests for banned substance Ostarine in the build-up. The contest was pulled at the last minute and Benn has been going through the process of getting cleared to fight in the UK ever since – something he recently announced was complete.

Negotiations to rearrange the Eubank bout immediately started and the teams are making progress after initially butting heads over the purse split.

With Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh involved in the talks, fans speculated that the clash might take place in Saudi Arabia. However, whilst speaking to Fight Hub TV, Eubank confirmed the contract is in the final stages and that the fight will happen in the UK.

“Yes, we are close, the fight will be made, 2025 will be a huge year for boxing and I’m excited. The contract is in its final stages. It looks like it’s going to be early this year and it looks like it’s going to be in the UK which was something that was very important to me because this fight obviously has a lot of British history involved in it so if we can get it in the UK then that would be amazing, I’m just waiting for the announcement.

The Benn fight is going to happen there is no plan B with that.”

Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn backed that up, telling iFL TV that if the fight gets over the line then it will take place in a stadium in Britain.

“Here. UK baby. It’s a stadium fight.”

In an interview with The Stomping Ground Benn has revealed that he has said ‘yes’ to the fight and is ready to go.

“If it gets done it gets done I’m tired of talking about it. I’ve said yes to Barios and I’ve said yes to Benn just give me a date. I’m ready and I only need 6 weeks.”
