Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois II: Date, Predictions & Fight Breakdown for the 2025 Heavyweight Title Rematch

The world of boxing is preparing for one of the most intriguing heavyweight rematches in recent history: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois II. Set for July 12, 2025, at Wembley Stadium in London, this bout is not just a sequel — it’s a redemption story, a legacy-defining battle, and a clash of styles that has boxing fans worldwide counting the days.

Usyk vs. Dubois I: The Controversial First Fight

In August 2023, Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles against British powerhouse Daniel Dubois in Poland. The fight became one of the year’s biggest talking points — not for Usyk’s technical mastery, but for a fifth-round sequence where Dubois landed a body shot, initially ruled a low blow, that sparked controversy across the boxing community.

Many believed the punch was legal and could have led to a stunning upset. Instead, Usyk recovered, regrouped, and eventually stopped Dubois in the ninth round via TKO. The debate never died, and the rematch now promises to settle the score once and for all.

Why This Rematch Matters

This is more than just another title defense. Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion and current unified heavyweight king, is nearing the twilight of his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Dubois, still only 27, is looking to cement his place in the upper echelon of the division.

For Usyk, the rematch offers a chance to silence any remaining critics who questioned his resilience after the controversial first encounter. For Dubois, this fight is the ultimate second chance — a rare opportunity to rewrite his narrative from challenger to champion.

Fight Prediction: Experience vs. Power

This rematch shapes up as the classic experience vs. youthful aggression scenario.

  • If Dubois can sustain a consistent body attack and cut the ring effectively, he has a real shot at forcing an upset.

  • If Usyk’s movement, jab, and defensive intelligence hold up, the Ukrainian maestro could coast to another masterclass victory on points or even secure a late stoppage if Dubois tires.

Early Prediction:
Usyk by unanimous decision or late-round TKO, but Dubois’s puncher’s chance remains very real — especially in the early rounds.

What’s at Stake

A win for Usyk would likely secure his place among the all-time greats, closing in on the elusive goal of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. For Dubois, a victory would catapult him from contender to superstar and redeem the questions that have lingered since their first fight.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Moses Itauma

With the stage set for July 12, 2025, boxing fans around the world can expect an electric night at Wembley. Whether you’re backing the masterful skills of Usyk or the raw power of Dubois, one thing is certain: this fight will be a defining moment in modern heavyweight boxing.

Oleksandr Usyk will face Daniel Dubois  within the next few days, Daniel Dubois undisputed fight reaches new deadline: ‘That’s the priority’

Oleksandr Usyk will discover if he will face Daniel Dubois next within the next few days.

Dubois and Usyk met in a huge showdown in 2023 which saw the latter pick up the victory after surviving a controversial ‘low blow’.

Usyk recently beat Tyson Fury twice, while Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua, which sees the pair now holding all four of the heavyweight world titles.

Dubois was set to defend his IBF title against Joseph Parker, but was forced to withdraw and instead appears to prioritise an undisputed clash with Usyk.

Stumbling blocks could sit in the way with the IBF set to order Dubois to face Derek Chisora, while the WBO will likely order Usyk to face Parker.

But it is understood an undisputed bout will take precedent, and a July date is being reserved at the UK’s 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium.

When giving a new update on the clash, Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk insists a resolution has to be made imminently so an agreement is in place in time for the date.

He told Sky Sports: “If undisputed makes itself possible – it will be the priority.

“We will come to know it within the next couple of days.”

Usyk always keeps in shape and is waiting anxiously to see if he can land yet another undisputed bout.

The Ukrainian entered the history books and became the first undisputed champion since 1999, when he beat Fury in May last year.

And now after wiping Fury out, a sequel with Dubois would cement his name as the division’s leading star.

Parker is also a credible option having earned his shot, and Usyk is yet to touch gloves with the New Zealander.

Initially it appeared the Briton himself could look to reschedule his bout with Parker.

‘Dynamite’ has too become hot property in the division, and is confident he is the best positioned to stop Usyk for the first time.

He said: “Definitely July, a big fight in July against Usyk. That’s what I want.

Oleksandr Usyk’s ‘priority’ is the undisputed world championship fight with Daniel Dubois

Unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk wants the undisputed title clash with Daniel Dubois but a mandatory defence against Joseph Parker remains an option; unbeaten champion Usyk holds the WBO, WBA and WBC heavyweight titles, while Britain’s Dubois has picked up the IBF belt

An undisputed world heavyweight championship bout with Britain’s Daniel Dubois remains “the priority” for Oleksandr Usyk and a decision on his next fight could be made this week.

He had to vacate the IBF heavyweight belt to take his December rematch with Tyson Fury. The Ukrainian won that second Fury fight and remains the unbeaten holder of the WBO, WBC and WBA world heavyweight titles.

Dubois picked up the IBF championship which he defended against former champion Anthony Joshua last year. After losing to Usyk in 2023, Dubois has been calling for his shot at revenge.

Usyk, though, has been ordered to make a mandatory defence of his WBO belt against heavyweight contender Joseph Parker.

That is an option for the Ukrainian star, but setting a unification fight would take precedence over a mandatory obligation. In that case the WBO could allow Usyk to box Dubois first.

An agreement one way or the other should be reached soon, otherwise the WBO will call for Usyk vs Parker to go to purse bids.

Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk revealed to Sky Sports that fighting Dubois is their preference.

“If undisputed makes itself possible – it will be the priority,” he told Sky Sports.

If Usyk is on course to fight Parker or Dubois next, Krassyuk noted: “We will come to know it within the next couple of days.”

Biggest fight in boxing today?

Promoter Frank Warren previously told Sky Sports: “We’re working at this moment on what his [Dubois’] next fight will be.

“He’s got some options there but the fight I’d love to see happen would be him against Usyk. For obvious reasons: the four belts on the line, the controversy of the first fight [Warren disputes the low blow that dropped Usyk]. And the fact that, in my opinion, Daniel’s come on and become a different fighter over the last 18 months or so.

“Whether it’s Riyadh or Wembley, it is the biggest fight in boxing, and if it’s at Wembley it’ll sell out.

“I prefer it to be in the summer, for obvious reasons. It’s an open-air show.”

‘Wanna deck someone’ – Daniel Dubois calls out Anthony Joshua as he names three-man fight shortlist

Daniel Dubois named Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker on a stacked three-man shortlist for his next fight.

Dubois, 27, flattened Joshua at Wembley Stadium last September in front of 96,00 fans to defend his IBF heavyweight title.

He was scheduled to meet Joseph Parker as the co-headline to Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol in February for his next fight, but withdrew from the bout after coming down with an illness.

Parker wound up defeating a sluggish Martin Bakole on the night, and the New Zealand boxer has since called for a fight with Ukraine’s unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk has been ordered by the WBO to make a mandatory defence of the belt against interim titlist Parker.

However, Usyk could go instead go into a fight with Dubois, as the IBF will grant an exemption to allow a four-belt unification bout come first.

“One of the big three. That’s what I’m after right now…I heard a lot of people saying that after the Parker thing, that I’m ducking people.

“But right now I just want to deck someone…Line them up for me. I want them.

“Stay tuned, guys. I’m coming back soon. I can’t wait to get back in there – firing on all cylinders…back with a vengeance. I can’t wait.”

The camps of both Usyk and Duboi can submit an exemption to the WBO for their fight to take priority over Parker’s shot.

However, Dubois’s promoter and founder of Queensberry Promotions Frank Warren insists nothing has been put forward from his side of things.

In that case, and if the WBO doesn’t approve the request, the IBF can order their highest-ranked contender to face Dubois instead.

That would be No.2-ranked Derek Chisora, who beat Otto Wallin in an IBF eliminator last February.

“But [the IBF] will allow him to have a unification if we get it approved [by the WBO].”

Warren also promotes Parker, but asserts his team would favour the Dubois vs Usyk fight first.

“We did ask them to order the fight between Joseph Parker and Oleksandr Usyk, the mandatory, which they have done,” he added.

“So there are three choices. It is: do the unification [Usyk vs Dubois], defend the title against Joseph Parker or vacate the belt. So now the ball is in Usyk’s court…

“Four belts is the priority for obvious reasons, and I think it’s a fight that will sell out Wembley or do massive business in Riyadh because of the controversy in the first fight.“So I think that would be the number one choice, and Daniel has come on a bundle since that fight, so it would be interesting.

“It doesn’t affect Joseph Parker in any way, because he maintains his position as the interim champion, and that means he gets the winner.

“So we’d get him another fight in the meantime, maybe even on the undercard [of Usyk vs Dubois].

“If not Usyk, then he will fight someone in the [WBO] top 10 in a voluntary.”

Since last September Anthony Joshua’s boxing career in doubt after ‘serious’ body injury

Anthony Joshua, a former two-time heavyweight champion has reportedly sustained a serious injury to the “top half of his body,” delaying his return to the ring this summer, according to talkSPORT

Following his stunning knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September, Joshua has been sidelined, with his return eagerly awaited.

Potential opponents and comeback hopes

Promoter Eddie Hearn had previously mentioned potential matchups against Tyson Fury and a Dubois rematch, with Joseph Parker, Deontay Wilder, and Martin Bakole also in contention.

However, Joshua is currently unable to resume full training due to an injury that has left him “unable to punch properly.”

Hearn confirms injury timeline

Hearn confirmed that the issue will keep AJ out of camp for eight weeks but declined to disclose specific details.

“Nothing major, but it means that he’s been returning to training and it’s not quite ready to turn back to camp. He needs about another eight weeks until he can punch properly. You’re looking at April-May till he can start camp properly, so it leads us to the back end of the summer.”

Dubois rematch plans on hold

A rematch with Dubois was originally planned for February, but minor injuries forced Joshua to withdraw.

“AJ desperately wants revenge, but the only issue is timing,” Hearn told the BBC earlier this year.

“For the rematch to happen in February, training camp would have had to start in a couple of weeks. There are always niggles, and he had a few, so physically, it’s just a case of whether AJ is ready.”

Joshua’s form before injury setback

Before his loss to Dubois, Joshua was on a four-fight winning streak, having bounced back from consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021 and August 2022.

He secured victories over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius, followed by impressive knockout wins against Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou, which suggested a return to his peak form.

Rematch is clocking as Oleksandr Usyk Delivers His Honest Verdict On Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois

Oleksandr Usyk has seen off the challenges of both Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.

The current unified world heavyweight champion remains unbeaten in the professional ranks having cleaned out the cruiserweight division to become undisputed before repeating that feat up in the banner division

Along the way, he knocked out Dubois in August 2023 despite being down for several minutes after what was ruled a low blow, having already dispatched ‘AJ’ twice over 12 rounds.

Since then, he had to vacate the IBF belt to honour a rematch with Tyson Fury, which he won having beaten him the first time to become undisputed.

It was Dubois who picked up that belt after his win over Fillip Hrgovic, then he defended it with a career-best showing against Joshua back in September. He had his man down at the end of the first round and by the fifth round knocked him out and left him unable to continue to retain his crown.

Anthony Joshua opted not to take an immediate rematch at the time, but that is a fight that is now a real possibility for Dubois as he looks to return to action following an illness that kept him out of his proposed fight with Joseph Parker back in February.

Speaking to Al Arabiya English, Usyk was asked if that rematch was possible and how it might go.

“There’s always a chance. In the first fight, Daniel was a winner, but it’s boxing, if there was another fight, I’m not a great predictor. It would be interesting to see another fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.”

Usyk is rather hoping it will be he who faces Dubois as he strives to become a two-time undisputed champion before he retires.

“It will Be A Harder Fight” As Daniel Dubois Set for Summer Return With One Man Targeted

Daniel Dubois is likely to make his ring return this summer after withdrawing late in the day from his last fight.

That was supposed to be a voluntary defence of his IBF world title against tough challenger Joseph Parker in February

However, Dubois came down with a virus in the final hours before the fight so was pulled from the card. Martin Bakole stepped up and was stopped inside two by the in-form Parker.

Daniel Dubois became IBF champion after beating Filip Hrgovic in June last year, then backed it up with an imposing knockout win over former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua in September.

Right now he has several options including honouring the fight with Parker, a second bout with Joshua, or a rematch with Usyk who beat him in August 2023 after a controversial body shot that had Usyk down was ruled low.

Usyk recovered, rallied and went on to stop Dubois. This time, a fight with the unified Ukrainian champion would be for undisputed honours.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, promoter Frank Warren gave an update on the health of Dubois.

“He’s recovering and he’s eager to get back in the ring again, having basically worked very hard and spent a fortune on a training camp for a fight that didn’t happen. He’ll probably be back in summer.”

He was then asked whether that return will be against Parker or Usyk.

“Well, what’s a harder fight, Joe Parker or Usyk? What’s the bigger fight? It’s a no brainer. I don’t get where anybody’s brains can be on this.

“He ain’t ducking anyone. The objective of the fight that didn’t happen was that the winner would face Usyk. So if the Usyk fight can be made, it will be made. We’re talking.”

With the extra confidence and momentum Dubois has built up since his first fight with Usyk, and Usyk being two years older, the rematch could be a different proposition entirely.

Dave Allen Predicts Usyk vs Daniel Dubois Rematch After Sparring Both and says “He Knocked Me Out”

Popular British fighter Dave Allen has shared the ring with many of the world’s top heavyweights including both Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois.

Right now, all of the belts in the banner division are in possession of these two men. Dubois, after beating Filip Hrgovic, was upgraded to IBF champion when Usyk – who remains in possession of the WBA, WBO and WBC – vacated that title to make a rematch with Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian is unbeaten in his professional career. He first cleaned out the cruiserweight division to become undisputed champion, then moved up to heavyweight and, after beating Anthony Joshua twice and Fury twice, he repeated that feat. He is now heading towards the end of his career, but is motivated by becoming a two-time undisputed champion in the division, three-time overall.

That means he could well face Dubois for a second time having already knocked him out back in summer 2023, albeit after being down himself from what some think was ruled rather controversially to be a low blow.

Having shared the ring with both men – and famously entering after Usyk gave him a concussion in the gym – Allen gave his prediction for the second fight to Seconds Out.

“I sparred Dubois nine years ago. He gave me whiplash on my neck from a jab, and Usyk knocked me out. I think Dubois could beat him. Usyk’s not getting any younger, he’s an old man, and he’s not a heavyweight really, I give Dubois a big chance.”

After Dubois withdrew from a voluntary defence against Joseph Parker last month due to illness, the path is now clear and the undisputed fight against Usyk looks very likely to be next, much to Parker’s disappointment.

Anthony Joshua could be fighting for a heavyweight title soon as he occupies an eliminator range in the rankings.

Anthony Joshua, a former two-time world heavyweight champion, has risen two spots in the most recent Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings.

Joshua’s rise comes after losing by knockout to Daniel Dubois late last year.

While Tyson Fury is ranked No. 1 despite declaring his retirement in January, Oleksandr Usyk is still in a class above the top 10.

The last time Anthony Joshua fought, he lost to Dubois via knockout at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.

Following consecutive losses to Usyk in 2024—the first setbacks of his professional career—Fury made his decision. Many in the boxing community, however, question whether his retirement is permanent.

Bakole was knocked out by Joseph Parker after filling in for Dubois on short notice, while Zhang was halted by a stunning body blow from Agit Kabayel in the sixth round of their WBC interim heavyweight bout.

Joshua’s ascent in the rankings comes after the division underwent major changes.

Bakole, who was once ranked No. 6, is now No. 7, and Zhang plummeted from No. 4 to No. 6.

After his career-best victory, Kabayel climbed to No. 4, and Anthony Joshua is now No. 5 behind Zhilei Zhang, a German boxer.

Also calling for rematch as Anthony Joshua Sums Up Joseph Parker’s Chances Of Beating Daniel Dubois In 3 Words After Bakole KO

Anthony Joshua has fought both Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker.

He beat Parker for the WBO belt back in 2018 in what was his first fight to go the full 12 rounds. That made the Brit a unified champion, but since then he has been dethroned first by Oleksandr Usyk who beat him in 2021 and 2022, then by Dubois in September who stopped him inside five rounds as Just AJ attempted to become a three-time world champion

Parker and Dubois were due to fight this past weekend but a late illness to ‘DDD’ meant Parker instead faced late stand-in Martin Bakole and knocked him out inside two rounds.

Speaking to BoxNation, Joshua was asked what chance Parker stands against Dubois if the two meet and believes the New Zealander has ‘a great chance’

“A great chance. He’s a phenomenal fighter, so is Dubois. Great Chance. I feel like Dubois had to show a little bit more with his fight with Hrgovic, he had to dig deep. His fight with Miller, he had to dig deep, his fight with me he kind of like, it’s like he announced himself as the heavyweight slayer as he called himself. Dubois, he’s just edging it.”

Despite Parker coming through adversity after being knocked down in his victory over Zhilei Zhang, ‘AJ’ still sounded caution about his ability to fight through tough moments.

“Look at Parker, he’s gone in there and knocked out Bakole. If it gets tough, I’ve seen it from Dubois, he’s managed to come through, with Parker, he’s gone in there and blasted out Bakole. It would have been nice to see a bit more, see what his engine’s like in the later rounds, see what grit he’s got, but he’s gone in there and done what we all want to do as heavyweights and knock him out.”

Parker will be hoping the Dubois honours their fight and he gets his world title shot, though some believe Dubois may instead push to go straight in with Usyk for an undisputed clash.
