Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois II: Date, Predictions & Fight Breakdown for the 2025 Heavyweight Title Rematch

The world of boxing is preparing for one of the most intriguing heavyweight rematches in recent history: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois II. Set for July 12, 2025, at Wembley Stadium in London, this bout is not just a sequel — it’s a redemption story, a legacy-defining battle, and a clash of styles that has boxing fans worldwide counting the days.

Usyk vs. Dubois I: The Controversial First Fight

In August 2023, Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles against British powerhouse Daniel Dubois in Poland. The fight became one of the year’s biggest talking points — not for Usyk’s technical mastery, but for a fifth-round sequence where Dubois landed a body shot, initially ruled a low blow, that sparked controversy across the boxing community.

Many believed the punch was legal and could have led to a stunning upset. Instead, Usyk recovered, regrouped, and eventually stopped Dubois in the ninth round via TKO. The debate never died, and the rematch now promises to settle the score once and for all.

Why This Rematch Matters

This is more than just another title defense. Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion and current unified heavyweight king, is nearing the twilight of his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Dubois, still only 27, is looking to cement his place in the upper echelon of the division.

For Usyk, the rematch offers a chance to silence any remaining critics who questioned his resilience after the controversial first encounter. For Dubois, this fight is the ultimate second chance — a rare opportunity to rewrite his narrative from challenger to champion.

Fight Prediction: Experience vs. Power

This rematch shapes up as the classic experience vs. youthful aggression scenario.

  • If Dubois can sustain a consistent body attack and cut the ring effectively, he has a real shot at forcing an upset.

  • If Usyk’s movement, jab, and defensive intelligence hold up, the Ukrainian maestro could coast to another masterclass victory on points or even secure a late stoppage if Dubois tires.

Early Prediction:
Usyk by unanimous decision or late-round TKO, but Dubois’s puncher’s chance remains very real — especially in the early rounds.

What’s at Stake

A win for Usyk would likely secure his place among the all-time greats, closing in on the elusive goal of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. For Dubois, a victory would catapult him from contender to superstar and redeem the questions that have lingered since their first fight.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Moses Itauma

With the stage set for July 12, 2025, boxing fans around the world can expect an electric night at Wembley. Whether you’re backing the masterful skills of Usyk or the raw power of Dubois, one thing is certain: this fight will be a defining moment in modern heavyweight boxing.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Moses Itauma: Heavyweight Clash Could Happen in Late 2025

The boxing world is buzzing with speculation as talks intensify around a potential showdown between the reigning unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and British rising star Moses Itauma — a bout that could take place as early as late 2025.

Usyk’s Reign: The Pound-for-Pound Master

Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian master technician, has already cemented his legacy as one of the greatest cruiserweights and heavyweights of his generation. Following his stunning victories over Anthony Joshua and his current pursuit of undisputed status, Usyk remains at the pinnacle of the sport. With his signature footwork, boxing IQ, and granite chin, he has proven nearly impossible to solve inside the ring.

Moses Itauma: The Heavyweight Phenomenon

At just 20 years old, Moses Itauma is rapidly climbing the professional ranks with an undefeated record and an aura of invincibility. Dubbed by many as a future world champion, Itauma has showcased exceptional power, agility, and composure beyond his years. Under the guidance of promoter Frank Warren, Itauma’s rise has been carefully managed, but his dominant performances suggest he may be ready for a world-title challenge sooner rather than later.

Frank Warren Hints at 2025 Superfight

In a recent interview, veteran promoter Frank Warren teased the boxing community with the possibility of an Usyk vs. Itauma clash before the end of 2025. Warren believes Itauma could become a “once-in-a-generation” heavyweight, and a bout against Usyk would be the ultimate litmus test for the young Brit.

“If Moses keeps developing the way he is, and Usyk is still active, the fight could absolutely happen before 2025 is out,” Warren hinted.

Why This Fight Could Redefine the Heavyweight Division

A match between Usyk and Itauma would pit experience against youth, technical brilliance against raw power, and a future legend against a modern great. The timing seems ideal: Usyk, likely seeking a final blockbuster bout before retirement, and Itauma, eager to announce his arrival on the world stage.

Usyk vs. Itauma: Early Predictions

  • Usyk’s advantage: Superior ring IQ, unmatched movement, and championship experience.

  • Itauma’s advantage: Youth, size, knockout power, and hunger for greatness.

Boxing fans can expect fireworks if the bout is officially signed. Whether Usyk’s experience or Itauma’s youthful explosiveness prevails, the matchup promises to be one of the most anticipated heavyweight showdowns in years.

This potential 2025 bout could mark the passing of the torch — or another chapter in Usyk’s legendary career. Stay tuned.

Oleksandr Usyk will face Daniel Dubois  within the next few days, Daniel Dubois undisputed fight reaches new deadline: ‘That’s the priority’

Oleksandr Usyk will discover if he will face Daniel Dubois next within the next few days.

Dubois and Usyk met in a huge showdown in 2023 which saw the latter pick up the victory after surviving a controversial ‘low blow’.

Usyk recently beat Tyson Fury twice, while Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua, which sees the pair now holding all four of the heavyweight world titles.

Dubois was set to defend his IBF title against Joseph Parker, but was forced to withdraw and instead appears to prioritise an undisputed clash with Usyk.

Stumbling blocks could sit in the way with the IBF set to order Dubois to face Derek Chisora, while the WBO will likely order Usyk to face Parker.

But it is understood an undisputed bout will take precedent, and a July date is being reserved at the UK’s 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium.

When giving a new update on the clash, Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk insists a resolution has to be made imminently so an agreement is in place in time for the date.

He told Sky Sports: “If undisputed makes itself possible – it will be the priority.

“We will come to know it within the next couple of days.”

Usyk always keeps in shape and is waiting anxiously to see if he can land yet another undisputed bout.

The Ukrainian entered the history books and became the first undisputed champion since 1999, when he beat Fury in May last year.

And now after wiping Fury out, a sequel with Dubois would cement his name as the division’s leading star.

Parker is also a credible option having earned his shot, and Usyk is yet to touch gloves with the New Zealander.

Initially it appeared the Briton himself could look to reschedule his bout with Parker.

‘Dynamite’ has too become hot property in the division, and is confident he is the best positioned to stop Usyk for the first time.

He said: “Definitely July, a big fight in July against Usyk. That’s what I want.

Oleksandr Usyk’s ‘priority’ is the undisputed world championship fight with Daniel Dubois

Unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk wants the undisputed title clash with Daniel Dubois but a mandatory defence against Joseph Parker remains an option; unbeaten champion Usyk holds the WBO, WBA and WBC heavyweight titles, while Britain’s Dubois has picked up the IBF belt

An undisputed world heavyweight championship bout with Britain’s Daniel Dubois remains “the priority” for Oleksandr Usyk and a decision on his next fight could be made this week.

He had to vacate the IBF heavyweight belt to take his December rematch with Tyson Fury. The Ukrainian won that second Fury fight and remains the unbeaten holder of the WBO, WBC and WBA world heavyweight titles.

Dubois picked up the IBF championship which he defended against former champion Anthony Joshua last year. After losing to Usyk in 2023, Dubois has been calling for his shot at revenge.

Usyk, though, has been ordered to make a mandatory defence of his WBO belt against heavyweight contender Joseph Parker.

That is an option for the Ukrainian star, but setting a unification fight would take precedence over a mandatory obligation. In that case the WBO could allow Usyk to box Dubois first.

An agreement one way or the other should be reached soon, otherwise the WBO will call for Usyk vs Parker to go to purse bids.

Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk revealed to Sky Sports that fighting Dubois is their preference.

“If undisputed makes itself possible – it will be the priority,” he told Sky Sports.

If Usyk is on course to fight Parker or Dubois next, Krassyuk noted: “We will come to know it within the next couple of days.”

Biggest fight in boxing today?

Promoter Frank Warren previously told Sky Sports: “We’re working at this moment on what his [Dubois’] next fight will be.

“He’s got some options there but the fight I’d love to see happen would be him against Usyk. For obvious reasons: the four belts on the line, the controversy of the first fight [Warren disputes the low blow that dropped Usyk]. And the fact that, in my opinion, Daniel’s come on and become a different fighter over the last 18 months or so.

“Whether it’s Riyadh or Wembley, it is the biggest fight in boxing, and if it’s at Wembley it’ll sell out.

“I prefer it to be in the summer, for obvious reasons. It’s an open-air show.”

Mike Vs Usyk: Evander Holyfield Delivers Honest Verdict On Prime Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk

Mike Tyson vs. Oleksandr Usyk is a fantasy fight that many boxing fans have debated in recent years.

Mike Tyson was world heavyweight champion during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and after becoming the youngest world heavyweight champion ever, he defeated fighters such as Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Trevor Berbick on his way to becoming undisputed.

It is an achievement that Usyk also recently achieved, following up on his undisputed glory at cruiserweight back in 2018 by repeating the feat in the banner division last May to claim all four world heavyweight titles.

Another man that was undisputed at both cruiserweight and heavyweight was Evander Holyfield, and he has weighed in on how a potential prime Tyson vs. Usyk fight could go.

Speaking to Mail Sport Boxing, Holyfield claimed that a prime Tyson would have beaten some of the best heavyweights in boxing history, including George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Tyson Fury, Wladimir Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

However, when it came to predicting a winner between ‘Iron Mike’ and Usyk though, Holyfield admitted he couldn’t split them.

“I don’t know. I don’t exactly know that one.”

Holyfield himself knows what it is like to have shared the ring with Tyson, having gone up against ‘Iron Mike’ twice in the mid 1990s.

The first bout ended in an 11th round stoppage win for Holyfield, while the second fight became infamous due to Tyson getting disqualified in the third round for biting the ear of ‘The Real Deal.’

As for Usyk, he is expected to return to action this summer, where the Ukrainian could take on IBF champion Daniel Dubois in a bid to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion

“No Doubt”: Frank Bruno Makes Emphatic Prediction For Oleksandr Usyk vs Prime Lennox Lewis

British heavyweight legend Frank Bruno has had his say on a fantasy showdown between Oleksandr Usyk and Lennox Lewis.

Oleksandr Usyk and Lewis remain two of the few fighters in the history of boxing to have held the undisputed heavyweight championship during their respective careers

The Lion’ captured the undisputed championship when he defeated Evander Holyfield in their highly anticipated rematch back in 1999, after they fought to a split draw in March of the same year. Lewis outpointed ‘The Real Deal’ over 12-rounds, winning via unanimous decision to add the WBA and IBF titles to his WBC crown.

Usyk become the first fighter in boxing history to claim the first undisputed heavyweight championship of the ‘four belt era’ when he defeated Tyson Fury in May 2024, becoming the first man to beat ‘The Gypsy King’. The Ukrainian icon repeated this feat in their rematch 7-months later, cementing himself as arguably the greatest heavyweight of his generation.

In an interview with iFL TV, Bruno talked down Usyk’s chances against ‘The Lion’, who he lost to by KO back in 1993, claiming he would not have been as successful during that great heavyweight era of the 1990’s.

“I don’t think in my era he would have got this far. In his era, he’s done very well. I’m not being b****y when I say that, I’m only talking from the heart. He wouldn’t have stood [a chance with the likes of Lennox Lewis]. They’re too big heavyweights for him, naturally big guys, you know.”

Usyk is now said to be considering his future in the sport, although the 38-year-old looks set to fight on as he targets a potential rematch against IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who he defeated 2-years ago in a controversial showdown.

Rematch is clocking as Oleksandr Usyk Delivers His Honest Verdict On Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois

Oleksandr Usyk has seen off the challenges of both Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.

The current unified world heavyweight champion remains unbeaten in the professional ranks having cleaned out the cruiserweight division to become undisputed before repeating that feat up in the banner division

Along the way, he knocked out Dubois in August 2023 despite being down for several minutes after what was ruled a low blow, having already dispatched ‘AJ’ twice over 12 rounds.

Since then, he had to vacate the IBF belt to honour a rematch with Tyson Fury, which he won having beaten him the first time to become undisputed.

It was Dubois who picked up that belt after his win over Fillip Hrgovic, then he defended it with a career-best showing against Joshua back in September. He had his man down at the end of the first round and by the fifth round knocked him out and left him unable to continue to retain his crown.

Anthony Joshua opted not to take an immediate rematch at the time, but that is a fight that is now a real possibility for Dubois as he looks to return to action following an illness that kept him out of his proposed fight with Joseph Parker back in February.

Speaking to Al Arabiya English, Usyk was asked if that rematch was possible and how it might go.

“There’s always a chance. In the first fight, Daniel was a winner, but it’s boxing, if there was another fight, I’m not a great predictor. It would be interesting to see another fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.”

Usyk is rather hoping it will be he who faces Dubois as he strives to become a two-time undisputed champion before he retires.

Anthony Joshua backed to land surprise world title shot in undisputed ‘tournament’ after Oleksandr Usyk order

Anthony Joshua has been backed to land a shot at the WBO world title if Oleksandr Usyk vacates.

That is according to talkSPORT pundit Spencer Oliver, who believes he has cracked the ever-complex heavyweight conundrum.

Oleksandr Usyk is keen to fight for the undisputed crown against Daniel Dubois with preliminary talks underway for a summer bout.

But a stumbling block was produced by the WBO who subsequently ordered Usyk to defend his title against Joseph Parker

He could be forced to vacate if he chooses to face Dubois, or could look to file for an exception with the WBO to grant all four belts being on the line.

If he chooses to face Dubois and vacate the WBO strap, a small possibility could see Parker immediately upgraded or thrust into a shot at the belt.

And Oliver discussed what he believes will unfold, with Joshua to be first in line for a shot at Parker if the situation resolves itself.

He said on the latest episode of talkBOXING: “Yeah I am across it, I think Oleksandr Usyk is looking for another dance partner.

“Who I believe will be Daniel Dubois. I think that fight happens next even though the WBO will want him to fight someone new.

“He will be a full world champion and then Anthony Joshua boxes him for that WBO title.

“Then the winners box each other for the undisputed titles, that is the route and road map I see.”

When asked if Joshua was a credible challenger for a world title despite his defeat to Dubois, Adam Smith insisted it was a valid option.

He added: “Of course, he’s reigned as a two-time heavyweight champion and a poster boy for boxing for many years.

“He’s lost to Dubois who was in great form and brilliant. AJ is still a massive name in boxing.

“Of course he deserves it, under Ben Davison he was looking good, He got beaten up, but he can recover from that, he did against Andy Ruiz.

“The Fury fight is the big fight for Joshua, but I still think that can too so I worry before that.

“But does AJ deserve a chance to fight for a world title again? 100 per cent.”

Joshua was on a positive run beating Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin before losing to Dubois.

oleksandr usyk

The British powerhouse is also still a commercial juggernaut, and was eyeing the huge fight with Fury this year.

But Fury chose to retire from the sport and his future remains uncertain having yet to pencil in his next meeting.

His promoter Eddie Hearn suggested it will still be another month or two before he can return to a full training camp, which could see him fight just once this year.

Anthony Joshua’s hopes of redemption have taken a hit as Oleksandr Usyk has reiterated his wish to face Daniel Dubois in his next bout.

The WBO had ordered Usyk and Joseph Parker to start negotiations for a mandatory heavyweight fight, giving them a 30-day deadline to agree on terms after Parker’s victory over Martin Bakole. The WBO stated: “Please be advised that the WBO World Championship Committee is hereby ordering the commencement of negotiations between the subject matters fighters to discharge the WBO mandatory championship obligation in the Heavyweight Division.”

The organisation further declared: “By virtue of this order, the WBO Interim Championship shall be terminated expeditiously in compliance with our institutional policy of only one world champion per weight class. The parties have 30 days to reach terms. Failure to do so will result in this Committee ordering purse bid proceedings in accordance with WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests.”

This development initially seemed like good news for ‘AJ’, who is eager to reverse his previous loss to ‘Triple D’. Their encounter at Wembley Stadium last September saw Dubois secure a knockout victory in the fifth round against Joshua. Yet, Usyk’s latest declaration of intent to challenge Dubois throws a wrench into Joshua’s plans for a comeback fight.

Ukrainian boxer Usyk has expressed his eagerness to take on Daniel Dubois in the ring, stating in an interview with Al Arabiya News: “We want to fight Dubois. My team is ready. A lot depends on how God will give us a way to do it and the second person who can do it is His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh, because he is the person who can organise this fight. I think there would be obstacles otherwise.”

Usyk praised Saudi Arabia as a boxing venue, saying: “The only person who can organise it is His Excellency and the Riyadh season. You know, I always fought on the land of my opponents. At present, Saudi Arabia has created the best environment, and organised these fights, so it has become like my second home. When I box in Saudi Arabia, it feels like our second home – great people, great fans. We can go to look around and meet with people. Currently, we cannot host fights in Ukraine, but we can have them in Saudi Arabia – they are very kind to us.”

With anticipation building for a rematch between Usyk and Dubois, speculation is rife that the potential undisputed heavyweight world title bout could be staged at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium. Alexander Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, confirmed to Sky Sports: “We are now working on this fight [Usyk vs Dubois II], Wembley as one of the options.” The two heavyweights previously clashed in 2023, where Usyk emerged victorious with a ninth-round TKO. The fight was not without controversy, however, as Dubois had floored Usyk with a body shot that was subsequently ruled a low blow before the fight reached its halfway mark.

If Usyk achieves his goal and defeats Dubois once again, he has his sights set on a bout with ex-UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Despite Pereira’s recent title loss to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, ‘The Cat’ is still keen on a showdown with ‘Poatan.’ “Yes, I would be interested [in a Pereira fight], but only after the fight with Daniel to merge our belts,” Usyk declared. “I even considered the option of fighting in a cage. It is a joke, but every joke contains an element of truth.”

Knockout Artist Who Lost To Oleksandr Usyk Admits He’s “Too Good” And Ends Hopes Of Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk is expected to announce his next opponent soon.

The Ukrainian last fought in December when he defeated Tyson Fury in their rematch, coming out on top by unanimous decision to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles.

It was the second straight victory for Usyk over Fury, having also beaten ‘The Gypsy King’ by split decision last May to become undisputed heavyweight champion.

Oleksandr Usyk vacated the IBF belt after that meeting, which is now in the possession of big-punching Daniel Dubois, who has picked up stoppage wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and most recently Anthony Joshua in his last three fights.

A rematch between Usyk and Dubois has now been touted, after the pair originally met in August 2023. It was a controversial bout, with Dubois believing he had dropped the Ukrainian with a body shot, only for it to be ruled as a low blow.

Usyk recovered and claimed a ninth round stoppage victory, and now nearly two years later it looks as if the two men could be set to meet again.

There is another fighter that is no longer interested in a rematch with Usyk though, and that is former undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev.

Beterbiev previously lost to Usyk in the amateurs, and once revealed he was keen on a rematch in the professional ranks at cruiserweight.

“I repeat, from a pure sporting perspective I would be interested in this fight, of course, because we boxed in the Olympics and the World Championships as amateurs.

It would be interesting to try as professionals, not for money, although money would be nice, but my interest in this fight would be purely sporting, much more than monetary. Much more.”

However, Beterbiev has since admitted to Fight Hub TV that he isn’t keen on the bout anymore, even if Usyk were to move back down to 200lbs.

oleksandr usyk

“No, he’s too strong for me you know. He’s like heavyweight you know it’s too strong even if he came back down. He’s too strong [even at cruiserweight], too good.”

Beterbiev was last in action in February when he lost his undisputed titles in his rematch with Dmitry Bivol, and he’s explained what he expects to do next.
