Mega fights in boxing are generally hard to come by, but fans have been blessed over the past few years with big names swallowing their pride in the chase for glory. This year, we’ve seen Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk deliver a true spectacle. Last year, we saw Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis link up.

That latter fight went swimmingly for Tank, who knocked out Garcia with a vicious body shot after knocking him down earlier. Davis is certainly not scared of the high-profile names, so it’s no surprise to hear the recent rumors about him potentially fighting Shakur Stevenson. While most expect a very even fight, Davis’ team doesn’t believe that will be the case.

Shakur Stevenson doesn’t have a “hammer”

Tank’s trainer, Kenny Ellis, recently spoke about the potential fight and is adamant that Davis has something that Stevenson simply doesn’t: power.

Ryan Garcia AND Gervonta Davis

They can’t be 50-50 if Tank can punch and Shakur can’t punch… Let’s say Tank is behind and he’s got to get himself out of trouble, and that motherf***ing hammer is going to get him out of trouble. Now let’s say Shakur’s behind and he’s got to get himself out of trouble. How’s he going to get himself out of trouble? He don’t have no hammer.

Ellis does concede that Stevenson “can box” and has “great IQ“, but he claims Davis does too. Tank’s trump card is his incredible power, which Stevenson simply doesn’t have, or hasn’t shown it to this point so far.

Ellis ended up taking it a step further, really laying into Stevenson and giving him no chance: “Tank is faster. He’s bigger. He’s stronger. He’s smarter. He ain’t got nothing on Tank. If it goes 12 rounds, I’m walking away from boxing.”

The much-anticipated heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is finally set to happen at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh this Saturday.

The pair will be battling it out for all four major heavyweight titles, marking the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000 and the first champion of the four-belt era. Originally pencilled in for February, the fight was delayed due to an injury Fury picked up during training.

The postponement has only ramped up the tension, with a recent spat involving Fury’s dad John and a member of Usyk’s team adding more spice to the mix. On top of the championship belts, both undefeated fighters are set to pocket a hefty payday.

While the final figure won’t be confirmed until after the fight, it’s estimated to be around $150m (£116m), according to The Independent. Last year, it was agreed that the purse would be split 70/30 in Fury’s favour.

Usyk accepted the smaller share on the condition that Fury donates £1m of his winnings to Ukraine, reports Birmingham Live. If the reported purse is accurate, Tyson Fury is set to bag a whopping $105m (£82.9m) from this weekend’s bout.

Last year, legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum revealed that the ‘Gypsy King’ would not be satisfied with a mere $100m offer. In an interview, Bob Arum revealed: “If you told Tyson Fury he’s set to make $100m, he’d really get p****d off,” elaborating further by saying, “Because he thinks and I think he’s right that he’s gonna make a lot more than that.”

Tyson Fury is no stranger to high earning fights in Saudi Arabia, having previously pocketed a hefty £35m from his crossover bout with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou last October.

Oleksandr Usyk’s coach has refused to rule out a mixed martial arts “wildcard” option if he defeats Tyson Fury again.

Earlier this year, Oleksandr Usyk was able to overcome Tyson Fury in their undisputed heavyweight boxing showdown. It was an incredible contest full of many twists and turns, but in the end, it was Usyk who managed to get his hand raised in victory.

Now, as you can imagine, the plan is for them to run it back. They made a whole lot of money the first time around, and that’ll likely be the case with the second one – regardless of where it’s held.

In a recent interview, Usyk’s coach Sergey Lapin discussed some fascinating possibilities for what he could do after the Fury rivalry is over.

Usyk’s exciting future

“He’s proven he’s the best of this generation and once he’s retired Tyson Fury, he will consider his options,” Lapin told Betway. “Maybe that’s dropping down in weight again. Or, maybe there’s a wildcard option on the table for him, be it in the boxing ring, the MMA cage. Or, even Conor McGregor’s Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC).

“Can you imagine Usyk and Jon Jones fighting to prove they’re the baddest man on the planet?” he continued. “Or maybe it’s a third fight with Anthony Joshua in the MMA cage. Maybe it’s Jake Paul at Cruiserweight. Although, Usyk would need to fight him with one hand behind his back though to make it fair.”
