Errol Spence Jr. or Jermell Charlo, Who Should Vergil Ortiz Jr. Fight Next?

The light middleweight division has been experiencing a churn. Excitement surged with the arrival of Terence Crawford. Reasons were aplenty—from talks of bridging the gap toward Canelo Alvarez to a more practical achieving glory in yet another division. Now, Bakhram Murtazaliev has shocked the world. At Florida’s Caribe Royal Resort, he knocked out the heavy favorite Tim Tszyu and retained his IBF light middleweight title. Though a title defense, the upset might have set in a chain reaction.

But it appears in this shake-up that one low-key entry seems to have slipped out of the collective memory. After a prolonged break, Vergil Ortiz Jr. returned early this year. After two non-title bouts, on August 10, he squared off against Serhii Bohachuk for an interim title. For the first time in his career, Vergil Ortiz Jr. had to walk the distance. Nevertheless, the explosive KO artist delivered a solid ‘Fight of the Year’ contender. However, it’s over two months now. There’s still no clarity as to who the Grand Prairie-born boxer will fight next. There are a few potentials, though.

The Fight That Almost Was: Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu

Interestingly, one of the earliest names that cropped up for a matchup was that of Tim Tszyu. In fact, the Sydney-born fighter and Ortiz Jr. were slated for a face-off on the August 3 Crawford-Madrimov card. But Tszyu’s injuries that he suffered during the Sebastian Fundora bout led to a cancellation. The prospect of an Ortiz Jr.-Tszyu fight was foremost in their thoughts when Oscar De La Hoya and HE Turki Alalshikh joined an interview.

But ‘The Soul Taker’s second career loss yesterday might have put a spanner in the works for any future matchup. Speaking about the divisional upheaval, following last year’s loss to Crawford, reports emerged that Errol Spence Jr. too joined the 154-pound weight class.

Could Vergil Ortiz Jr. face Errol Spence Jr.?

Vergil Ortiz Jr. had already expressed a keen interest in pursuing a face-off against the former welterweight champion. The idea of a showdown at the Cowboys Stadium held particular appeal to him. “I think the fight that makes that happen is the Spence fight. If he gets through Fundora and he’s healthy… we can run it at Cowboy Stadium,” he said during an interview. The fight makes for an intriguing contest. Though passingly, Spence Jr. has hinted at retiring from the sport. Hence, there’s a good chance he might want to go out on a high note—perhaps as a world champion.

For both Spence Jr. and Ortiz Jr., it would be a legacy-defining clash. Stylistically, it would be two heavy-hitting Texans going at each other. Spence Jr. would be testing his strong fundamentals against a fighter known for his devastating power. But a few caveats could be in play. Many feel the loss to Crawford has taken a heavy toll on the Long Island-born southpaw. Then, injuries apart, he underwent eye surgery early this year. It’s already been over 12 months since he entered the ring. So will the odds weigh him down?

Then one might have to consider Errol Spence Jr.’s options as well. Ever since he moved, talks of a fight against Sebastian Fundora surfaced. After a few rounds, when it appeared the matchup could be mere speculation, it seemed that a fight could be in the making for a 2025 face-off. So would the ‘Big Fish’ be interested in facing a fearsome interim champion risking a second career loss or straightaway go after the unified title holder, where, at least on paper, he stands a better chance of winning?

Jermell Charlo: Another target for Ortiz Jr.?

Apart from Errol Spence Jr., Vergil Ortiz Jr. had Jermell Charlo as well in his sights. The former undisputed light middleweight champion has yet to make a comeback following the loss to Canelo Alvarez last September. Ortiz Jr. made his intentions clear even before he could mark his 154-pound debut against Frederick Lawson. Though he said, ‘anyone at the time,’ when a reporter specifically took Jermell Charlo’s name for a future fight, Ortiz Jr. made it explicitly clear, “I just, I just want to fight the best. I want to prove that I’m the best.

Incidentally, promoter Oscar De La Hoya too appeared interested in a Charlo fight. Reportedly, he went back on an old tweet from the ‘Iron Man’ and told him to reach out following the April 27 Thomas Dulorme match.

But like Spence Jr.’s case, Charlo’s case is a bit complicated. Following the Canelo fight, the Louisiana-born fighter faced a slew of personal problems. Then, early in January, reports emerged that WBC had conferred on him the status of ‘champion in recess’. The decision led to the title being declared vacant. A few months later, the WBA followed suit. As of now, Jermell Charlo has been keeping a low profile, and there’s no clarity about his next move.

Nevertheless, after a few months, even if he steps into the ring, will the fight with Ortiz Jr. resonate with fans?

Winding Up

Both Errol Spence Jr. . and Jermell Charlo turned 34 this year. They might be at the tail end of their careers. Hence, there’s a big question. Would either of them risk a fight against a younger, hungry contender like Ortiz Jr., especially with a loss potentially spelling the end of their time in the sport?

Of course, things have not been easy for the Grand Prairie-born fighter either. A move to a higher division seemingly exposed his vulnerabilities. It may only be a matter of time before a determined boxer of high caliber exploits it to his advantage. Could it be Terence Crawford? There are quite a few who support the matchup. Then there’s a high possibility of Jaron Ennis finally making a move to 154 pounds, presenting another enticing challenge for Ortiz Jr.

Let us know what your takes are on Vergil Ortiz Jr.’s options. Who do you feel he should fight next?

It appears we͏ are on the verge of͏ witnessing another major crossover su͏perfight between MMA͏ and boxi͏ng, with Conor ͏McGr͏egor once again a͏t the fo͏r͏efro͏nt. McGregor and Crawford were ori͏ginall͏y slated to ͏fight͏ in two bout͏s: one in boxing and the other in MMA. And acc͏or͏din͏g to repo͏r͏ts,͏ a͏ massive $200 million purs͏e had b͏e͏en set͏ f͏or͏ the fighte͏rs.

However, although Crawford initially ͏declined due to skepticism about co͏mpeting in MMA, citing, “Me and Conor got on the phone and started politicking to try and figure something out. Man, I’m not getting in no (expletive) Octagon with you so you can be kicking and elbowing me!” Nevertheless, days after refusing to step inside the Octagon, ‘Hunter’ has come forward to emphasize his fight with McGregor, Getting back on the mat! Ay, Conor, getting back on the mat! Stay tuned, baby! Stay tuned,” said Crawford on through social media.

Interestingly, Dana White was asked about endorsing this super fight in one of his conversations with ‘Outta Pocket with RGIII.’ The host asked the UFC CEO if would he promote the fight considering the fact that Conor McGregor’s in it. Dana White gave a single answer to this question, “No.”

The host reminded him about the fact that Crawford was a former wrestler, to which the UFC CEO said under no circumstances did he believe that it would be a wise decision for ”Hunter’ to step inside the Octagon, “He’s a smart guy too, saying, “I’m not fighting you in the octagon. You’re not kicking me in my legs,” and you know what I mean? He’s smart. He’s one of the greatest of all time in boxing. Stay in your lane, and he’s absolutely right in what he’s saying.

Conor McGregor‘s last boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather witnessed a very active participation from the UFC CEO but his second one may not have Dana White by his side. Regardless, as Crawford accepts the multi-million dollar fight, what’s ‘Mystic Mac’s reaction to it?

Conor McGregor reacts after Terence Crawford accepts the dual-way fight

As soon as Conor McGregor witnessed the Terrence Crawford video, he was immensely impressed by Crawford’s decision and he took to his Instagram handle to share it on his story. In the captions he stated that he has immense respect for the ‘Four Division-Champion’, “Is this you accepting the fights now, my brother Terrence! MMA is Saudi for Riyadh season. Followed then by a boxing bout!”

He further added, “Tremendous Terrence, well done. I ACCEPT! @turkialalshikh ITS ON BABY RIYADH SEASON WITH THE NEW BRUCE LEE, CONOR MAC G. And boxing’s pound for pound number 1 tremendous Terence C! JUST WOW!”  Hyping this up, Conor McGregor further stated that it would be an amazing clash, “What a spectacle! You’ve never seen these moves Turki. I am a master martial artist. I am the maestro. Let’s go. I will show.”

It must be noted that the conversation of their boxing match goes way back to 2020. Back in those days, Crawford emphasized that he would fight McGregor under the right circumstances, “They put that money up, hell yeah I’ll go over there and fight him.” Fast forwarding to 2024, hopefully, this is the right circumstance. With, both the fighters agreeing to fight each other, are we going to witness a class fight between them? State your thoughts in the comments below.

“It Might Be Hard to Come Back”: Terence Crawford, Caleb Plant, and Others Console Tim Tszyu After Devastating Loss to Bakhram Murtazaliev.

Tim Tszyu had a night that he would like to erase from his memories and record. The Australian fighter had a chance to reclaim a title and reclaim a top spot in the light middleweight division. But he ended up being outclassed, outpunched, and outmuscled by Bakhram Murtazaliev.

Murtazaliev not only defended his IBF title but also secured a devastating win, as he picked up a third-round technical knockout win. The challenger, despite being the heavy favorite, never looked settled, as he took a knee four times at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando and dropped his second consecutive fight of the year.

Bakhram Murtazaliev proves his mantle against Tim Tszyu

The first hit on Tszyu came in the second round, where his leaky defense again put him in trouble and ate a left hook. Instead of trying to recover and go into a shell, he launched a counterattack. That strategy failed, as he took another left and at once went down. He took a tumble in the dying seconds of the second round, again. Tszyu’s agony was cut short in the third round, as his corner threw in the towel.

After the loss, Tim Tszyu admitted his loss and gave no excuses. He said, “The better man won tonight. No excuses. I tried my best. Boxing is not meant to be perfect. I think it was after the first shot. Things didn’t go according to plan. He’s the man at 154. He’s the champ.” Tszyu’s loss has shaken up the boxing landscape and had pros and fans taking to their social media accounts, to express their candid opinion.

Terence Crawford and pros wish for Tszyu’s speedy recovery

Caleb Plant lauded Tim Tszyu for fighting on despite the knockdowns and accepting his mistakes after the loss. He wrote, “Good man. No excuses. Real good fighter. Rest up, regroup and we’ll see you again soon @Tim_Tszyu is great for the sport and even better guy.” With another loss on the trout, Tszyu might take a break from boxing and recover from the cut that he sustained in his fight against Fundora in March and then get his confidence back.

Terence crawford

Terence Crawford asked not to trust the fans and lauded Murtazaliev for his credentials despite not being a popular face. He declared, “This why you can’t listen to these fans. They don’t know boxing at all. Just because you never heard of a fighter doesn’t mean he’s a bum. Now everyone is high on Murtazaliev. Yall need to stop downing fighters just because yall don’t pay attention to them.” Notably, Bakhram Murtazaliev held a record of 22-0 before his fight with Tim Tszyu and defeated Jack Culcay with a comprehensive victory to win the IBF crown.

George Kambosos Jr. had a similar take as he asked for respect for fighters coming from not-so-mainstream countries. He announced, “This game ain’t easy, I hope Tim is physically ok, he’s always been a good kid, mainstream media wake up, maybe learn your lessons and stop writing bull**it every second of the day, blowing to much smoke, there’s other great fighters in the country too, god bless everyone 👏🏻.” His remark particularly referred to how in the build-up to the fight, many fans had Murtazaliev as an underdog despite being the champion and boasting an undefeated record

Andre Berto took a jibe at Tim Tszyu’s father, boxing veteran Kotsya Tszyu, and believed his recovery would take a long time. He said, “Sh-t looked like a set up… And his father finally made it over to watch his son fight in person smh. Those are the type of shots that it might be hard to come back from… That was wild 🤦🏾‍♂️.” Tszyu, like his father, became a world champion. But with consecutive losses on a trot, he might have a long way ahead to replicate his father’s legacy.

Terence Crawford Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If He Is Now Interested In A Jaron Ennis Fight

Terence Crawford has a long line of contenders looking for a fight, not least Jaron Ennis.

The 27-year-old from Philadelphia became welterweight world champion after Crawford vacated the belts and moved up a division. Still intent on the challenge, ‘Boots’ Ennis has said he is willing to join him at super-welterweight

In a feature with The Ring Magazine, Crawford didn’t blame the younger man for calling him out, but said he gained nothing from answering.

“They’re doing the right thing calling me out. I definitely get it. But I had to work so hard to get the [big] fights I got. They ain’t done half of what I did to get to me. You want me to backtrack and forget the biggest fight in boxing – me and Canelo – to fight Boots or Vergil? What am I gaining from that?”

The four-weight world champion then compared the current Ennis situation to when he wanted to face Manny Pacquiao.

“This is like when I wanted to fight Pacquiao. I had everything to gain. I’d won multiple world titles by then and been Fighter of the Year. My record was night and day different when compared with Boots and Vergil and me and Pacquiao.

“Pacquiao was at the age where he couldn’t afford to take another loss, so fighting a guy like Terence Crawford at that point of his career wasn’t smart. I couldn’t get a Pacquiao fight even though I had multiple accomplishments, but everybody else could. I was bitter at the time, but it was a business decision. I understand now.”

Terence Crawford seems to be waiting it out for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to respond to an offer before deciding what his next move will be. As for ‘Boots’, he defends his IBF belt against Karen Chukhadzhian – the man he beat for the interim belt last year – on November 9.

If you had to guess, how much do you think Terence Crawford weighed on fight night for his clash with Israil Madrimov on Saturday, Aug. 3?

Surprisingly, Crawford was the bigger man in the ring when he won a unanimous decision over the previously undefeated Madrimov.

The California State Athletic Commission released official fight night weights for everyone on the card at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Not only was Crawford heavier than Madrimov, but he also experienced the fourth-biggest weight gain from the official weigh-ins.

After weighing in at 153.4 pounds on Friday for the official weigh-in, Crawford weighed 169.8 pounds the night of the fight. The 16.4-pound weight gain is almost two pounds more than what Madrimov put on for the fight.

Madrimov was officially 168.6 pounds when he failed to defend his WBA title against the future Hall-of-Famer. Here is a list of the most significant weight gains from Friday’s weigh-ins to fight night on Saturday.

In their super middleweight fight, Steve Nelson jumped 25.4 pounds when he clashed with Marcos Ramon Vazquez.

  17. What can we take from Crawford’s weight gain, and does this tell us much about his form for a fight with Canelo Alvarez? Traditionally, fighters competing closer to their natural weight gain less from weigh-in to fight night.Fight Picks: Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov - The RingThat’s usually because they didn’t need to shed as much water weight to hit the contracted limit. It’s almost impossible to say for sure, but it’s not a wild guess to predict Crawford would likely weigh in between 165 and 167 pounds for a fight at super middleweight and only rehydrate up to 173 or 175 for fight night.

Making the weight doesn’t show how well a fighter can perform at that size. We wouldn’t know that without seeing the fighter in the ring.

However, Crawford’s jump in weight ahead of the fight with Madrimov proves he’s appropriately suited for 154 pounds–even if it means he won’t be as devastating of a puncher at that weight as he has been at 135, 140, and 147 pounds.

With a fight with Canelo seemingly up in the air as the Mexican legend exchanges words with Saudi power broker Turki Alalshikh, we’ll have to wait to see what Bud’s next fight will be and in what weight class.

Canelo Alvarez felt Israil Madrimov won the fight against Terence Crawford on August 3 and warned he will only fight the four-weight champion if Turki Al-AlSheikh’s money is right for the Mexican.

The 34-year-old’s words could simply be a game to warm up a possible fight against Bud Crawford, which has been in the conversation since the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority expressed an interest in the boxing super-fight.

So now the man from Guadalajara threw a dart targeting the unanimous decision in favor of Crawford as he claimed the WBA and WBO super-welterweight titles, arguing Madrimov didn’t deserve a loss on his record.

Canelo wants Crawford

Crawford prevailed at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles with Al-AlSheikh in attendance, winning via a 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 unanimous decision to improve his career record to 41-0-0 (31 KOs) in the first time he’s failed to knock out an opponent since Viktor Postol in July 2016.

And after watching Crawford’s fight, Canelo Alvarez considered taking on Bud would be easy money because of the weight difference in favor of the 34-year-old, who competed at light-heavyweight as recently as 2022.

“Why not? I think Crawford, don’t get me wrong, is a great fighter,” Canelo told the Sway’s Universe podcast. “But for me, at my weight, it’s an easy fight. It’s easy money.

“I saw Crawford in the last fight and now he doesn’t move much. So, if the money is right, why not?”

Canelo’s appearance at light-heavyweight saw him lose via unanimous decision to the WBA champion, Dmitry Bivol as the Mexican weighted in at 174lbs. Crawford came in against Madrimov at around 154lbs for the win.

Canelo, although dropping down weight for his fight against Jaime Munguia, still came in 14lbs heavier than Crawford’s super-welterweight clash.

Terence Crawford added another bejeweled line to his career ring resume on Saturday night in Los Angeles, defeating Uzbek champion Israil Madrimov by decision to take his WBA title at 154 pounds and claim belted status in a fourth division since going pro in 2008.

The 36-year-old Nebraskan won eight of 12 rounds in the eyes of one judge and seven of 12 on two remaining scorecards to boost his record to still-pristine 41-0.

The win opens up another series of options for the pound-for-pound star’s next fight and the B/R combat got together in the aftermath to frame those options in terms of what could happen, what probably will happen, what we wish to happen and what would stretch the limits of the modern internet.

Terence Crawford to face Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles in bid for world title at fourth different weight | Boxing News | Sky Sports

Take a look at what we came up with and drop a thought in the comments.

Crawford has always been a belt-acquiring type.

He was “only” a one-title winner as a lightweight, but developed a fondness for jewel-encrusted trinkets upon moving to 140 and didn’t the weight class until he was recognized as champion by the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO.

He had the same M.O. at welterweight, where he consolidated his greatness with a brutal stoppage of Errol Spence Jr. last summer that made him a four-belt champ.

The win over Madrimov yielded a single belt at 154 and the fastest route to gathering all four goes through Fundora, the freakishly tall (6’5.5″) southpaw who emerged with the WBC and WBO titles after a bloody 12-rounder with Tim Tszyu in March.

It was Fundora that Team Crawford had its eye on while plotting a course at 154 in the first place before Fundora veered off into a would-be fight with the also-climbing Spence that’s since been postponed.

Maybe it’ll be next. Maybe they can match the winners.

But now that Crawford is a champ at 154 and former for Errol Spence Jr. has moved up the ladder, there’d certainly be interest in getting the two welterweight rivals back together for a re-do of their highly-anticipated bout last summer.

Crawford was a dominant winner but there were suggestions that Spence’s issues with making 147 pounds might have compromised his effectiveness, so there’d be enough reason to believe the outcome could change to make it an easy sell.

And if Spence and Fundora do get together first in their own title bout then it’s an even easier sell for the winner to go straight into what’d be a three-belt showdown with Crawford.

“The possibility is there,” Crawford told Forbes.

We’ll leave this one to the money guys.

Crawford has been working with boxing insurgent Turki Alalshikh, and it was the Saudi entertainment authority boss who assembled the Riyadh Season fight card on which Crawford’s dethroning of Israil Madrimov was the main event.

Terence Crawford becomes 4-division champion by defeating Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision | AP News

Alalshikh was predictably making the rounds at ringside and in doing so chatted up Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya, whose prized welterweight prospect Vergil Ortiz Jr. climbed to 154 to begin the year and has won two straight bouts by first-round KOs.

He’s on the schedule for a third fight at the weight later this month and Alalshikh said on Saturday’s fight broadcast that Crawford-Ortiz was a fight he wanted to orchestrate going forward.

Ortiz is 21-0 with 21 KOs since turning pro in 2016, fighting an average of 3.38 rounds.

If you’re a fan of Canelo vs. Crawford, Saturday was a rough night.

The idea that Crawford was pushed 12 rounds for the first time in eight years and was touch-and-go on the scorecards with a guy at 154 pounds who’d had just 10 previous fights doesn’t do much for the idea that he can climb another 14 pounds to face a guy on Alvarez’s level.

And while we won’t suggest we’re experts on “Bud’s” psyche or the way he presents himself, he certainly seemed a bit less intense about the proposition after going 12 rounds with Israil Madrimov than he had in the months and weeks prior.

It was less competitive and more financial.

“If the money’s right,” he said, “we got a fight.”

Toward that end, the aforementioned Turki Alalshikh said he’d made an offer to Team Canelo and it would be up to the Mexican superstar whether or not it’d happen.

Alvarez has a September fight scheduled with Puerto Rican slugger Edgar Berlanga, and you can count analyst Sergio Mora, a former champion at 154, among those thinking Crawford would be biting off more than he can chew.

“I don’t think he should be moving up to super middleweight,” Mora said. “There’s a limit to greatness.”

Terence Crawford pocketed a disclosed purse more than three times larger than now-former WBA champion Israil Madrimov for their boxing showdown this past Saturday.

Crawford, who became a four-division champion with a unanimous decision over Madrimov to capture the WBA junior middleweight title, earned a disclosed purse of $2,500,000 for his handiwork. Madrimov, competing in his 10th professional bout following an extensive and decorated amateur career, earned a $750,000 disclosed purse in the losing effort.

The California State Athletic Commission released the event’s salary report on Monday in the aftermath of Crawford vs. Madrimov, which took place at Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium.

In addition to Crawford, one other fighter on the card crossed the seven-figure threshold with their disclosed purse — now-former WBA super lightweight champion Isaac Cruz earned a $1,500,000 disclosed payday for his stunning upset loss to Jose Valenzuela ($500,000) in the event’s co-headliner.

A complete list of the Crawford vs. Madrimov salaries can be seen below. As always, these figures do not represent a fighter’s total earnings, as certain sponsorship incomes, pay-per-view earnings, and other streams of income are not publicly disclosed.

Terence Crawford won a world title in a fourth weight class on Saturday with a unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov.

On two of the judge’s scorecards, one round separated the two men, and it appeared Madrimov gave Crawford one of–if not the most brutal fights of his career. When Crawford was asked if Madrimov had brought him his toughest fight, the future Hall-of-Famer quickly dismissed the idea.

“I wouldn’t say it was my toughest fight,” Crawford said. “I think Mean Machine [Egidijus Kavaliauskas] was a tougher fight than that. I think Gamboa [Yuriorkis] was a tougher fight, I think [Jose] Benavidez was a tougher fight. I may have got the knockout, but they were tough fights in their own right.”

Crawford defeated Kavaliauskas via ninth-round TKO in a rough-and-tumble affair. Kavaliauskas has just two losses in his pro career, both to undefeated fighters.

The first was to Crawford in 2019, and the other came against Vergil Ortiz Jr. in 2021.

Crawford stopped Gamboa in June 2014 in an all-action fight. The win was Crawford’s first defense of his WBO lightweight title and one of Bud’s first truly spectacular performances.

In an epic grudge match that featured a legitimate punch being thrown during one of the press conferences, Crawford scored a thrilling 12th-round KO win over Jose Benavidez Jr. in an all-out war.

Why does Crawford not consider the Madrimov fight his toughest despite winning by the smallest margin of his career?

No opponent has ever come within a round of winning a fight or drawing with Crawford on any judge’s scorecard.

“I was touching him up with the jab,” Crawford said. “I think my jab was beating him up all through the fight. He landed a couple of right hands that were telling for the judges or the fans, but it was nothing that I had never seen before.”

As a spectator and someone who has seen every Crawford fight since 2013, I would say the Madrimov fight was his toughest.

UPDATE:Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov live results: Blow-by-blow updates, highlights and analysis

While the Kavaliauskas fight had some tense moments, there was never a second where I questioned if Bud was in control. Crawford earned and deserved the victory over Madrimov, but there were some moments when I wondered if this was the night we see the all-time great take his first loss.

The fight’s difficulty level had nothing to do with Crawford showing any signs of slippage; it was more about Madrimov’s skill and game plan.

The Uzbekistan fighter might be the second best 154-pound fighter in the world, and depending on his opponent, we could get some answers to that question in his next fight.

TERENCE CRAWFORD makes his highly-anticipated return to the ring TONIGHT in a thrilling world title clash against Israil Madrimov.

Bud hasn’t laced up his gloves since an emphatic 9th-round TKO victory against bitter rival Errol Spence last summer.

owever, Crawford will be determined to keep his undefeated streak going by winning the world title even after moving up to 154lbs for tonight’s thrilling fight.

Before the main event, Andy Ruiz Jr’s eagerly anticipated bout with Jarrell Miller was controversially scored as a majority draw after 12 brutal rounds.

Main event ring-walk time: 11.30pm ET / 4.30am BST (approx)

Both of these fighters are looking upon a victory as a springboard for their career in the heavyweight division.
