Wladimir Klitschko Needed Just Two Words When Asked If He Can Beat Tyson Fury At 48 Years Old

Wladimir Klitschko continues to tease a return to the ring.

The former long-time world heavyweight champion hasn’t fought since losing to Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium back in April 2017.

Nearly eight years on from that fight, rumours continue to persist that he could be set to make a comeback as he looks to break the record of the oldest world heavyweight champion in history.

Boxing legend George Foreman currently holds that accolade, having lost held world honours at the age of 46 years and 169 days old.

Klitschko turns 49 in March, so would comfortably beat the record if he does pick up a world title again, but question marks remain over what condition he may be in.

One potential opponent for Klitschko could have been Tyson Fury, if he would have been victorious in his world heavyweight title rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in December.

Speaking ahead of the fight, Klitschko needed just two words when asked by Fight Hub TV if he still feels he is capable of beating the likes of Fury.

“Of course.”

Klitschko then revealed just why he is so confident he would be successful.

“Why are there rumours out there? Because I’ve been active and trained every day since I retired in 2017. Do I got it? Of course. Am I ready? Of course. Have I been sparring? Of course.

Those questions about coming back. I never left. There are a lot of things that can happen in the next year. A lot depending unfortunately from the war that is going on in our home country Ukraine.”
